If Currie is willing to say this...

He needs to prove be consistent in his standards.

Currie IS consistent, because we DO NOT have a "tremendous commitment to success in men's basketball at KState."

Well which mid-level p5 coach is about to get fired for performance?  That's the standards set by KSU.  Carmody is rested and already available I think.

We have lower standards for basketball than KU or ISU does for football.

He's an Xavier guy through and through and they love him there.

Again, I would take him in a heartbeat, but it ain't happening.

I'd become a woman for a raise from $860K to $2mill. Who wouldn't?

the same things were said about Sean Miller as he waited for a true basketball job to open up and Mack is going to do the same.  And I would be shocked if Mack didn't have significant additional compensation like the rumored six figure speaking engagements Buzz had with some Wall Street firm ran by a Marquette alum.

Here's my question....have we really met expectations for this year? Did people really go into this year thinking we were bottom two in the conference, would have a losing home record in conference and be hoping to make the NIT? I know we are young. I know we are injured. But this is the first year we have had a losing home conference record since Wooldridge's first year. That year we played our starting strong safety 15 minutes per game in conference. Is this roster really equivalent to that roster from a talent stand point?

So let's say we go another year. And let's say the criteria is a solid NCAA birth (where we are talking seeds in February, not field); win a game; top half of the league. Basically be what the program was when he took over. If that is the litmus test, how confident are you right now that we can realistically meet those goals? We struggle to score the ball and we lose our top scorer this year. So we effectively have to find about 15-20 ppg to get to a competitive offensive output next year. Where's that coming from?

If I gave you $10,000, and said you had to bet it on meeting those goals or not meeting those goals, where would you put the money? Because if you say that these are the goals for next season, and you don't think we can realistically meet them, then what's the point of continuing another year of fan apathy, being disgruntled, etc? Plus, if your primary target is Brad Underwood, what is the likelihood he does not take another job after this year?

As I've said over and over, I really want Coach Weber to fit at KSU. I think he's a great fit for the university and a very nice man. But there are a lot of signs pointing the wrong direction right now to think that next year we are going to take a huge leap forward simply because we are a year older. I would be more than happy to eat crow on these feelings, and I hope I do. But there's just too much mounting data to ignore any longer.

this is ksusouthpaw, who i believe is a great man and an even better advocate for kansas state university.
