Welp, eff the haters. Gonna have a guy check out this old brick building and if it's ok, gonna make an offer.  Kinda doubt it matters tho, the seller is asking way too much. I would need to put in about $70k fixing it up. If I paid around asking price, I'd be upside down on it after renovation. But fingers crossed

Missed this thread the first time around.  I don't have kids but the horrors of KCMO school district get overblown.  There are some good schools in the urban core.  If you work downtown, get your kids in the crossroad academy...Lincoln Prep is good.  Then there is always the private school option.  It's going to take people who care about their kid's education to ever fully turn around the district...so more people like you!!!
