Are we choosing to not dominate mid-majors in basketball?
« on: December 18, 2012, 07:35:59 PM »
Mid majors are barely able to fund their programs.

From the Cigars thread:

I know SBNation is very hit and miss, but this is a Villinova write up from a guy that seems to know what he is talking about with tournament money factored in.

How is it that we are so far behind the likes of Creighton, Gonzaga, Xavier, and others on the ability to field a consistently high level team?   Those schools have to move mountains to get NCAA eligible each year, but they do it.

They have practice facilities and capital investment, so don't bring that up in our defense...that was LONG overdue.

How do we not achieve more in basketball?  What's going on here?

This may be LKBSIQ but how does Squawk success affect our ability to sustain a competitive program?  It's not like we recruit the same players and there's not exactly a pipeline of elite basketball talent flowing out of Kansas.

Recency effect obvs but Willie Cauley-stein, perry Ellis, Connor frankamp, semi ojeleye.

2/4 is SIGNIFICANTLY better than 0/4.
