IF (and that's a big if), that's their best hire since Mangino. He may/may not get things turned around, but he'll create a culture conducive to winning and should be able to recruit reasonably well by KU standards. It'll be interesting to see what he does offensively. But, at a minimum, he'll be way cheaper than Miles and way more competent than Beaty.

1. Their FB program would get a lot better

2.  This thread wouldn't make it to 1200 pages

I'm not certain that Baylor can maintain the high standards set for champions by KU.

First world problem here:  Family bought me several articles of Adidas sportswear for Christmas.  They look OK, but wonder, does wearing Adidas carry the stink of cheating?  I mean, decent universities with no record of athletic cheating are sponsored by Adidas, right?  So, should I return these Christmas gifts?

His story goes back a long time, but may be best remembered as the OU coach that coached the 1988 team that played KU for the national championship.  Always wore double-breasted suits, and had a way to connect to players from a lower income demographic--I think he grew up poor himself.  Made him a fantastic recruiter.

Did we have any coaches outside of Tom Asbury that regularly wore double-breasted suits?

Texted my niece, a UN Lincoln grad, that the Nub lineman looked huge, like Nebraska had gone back to the days of Dr. Tom's steroid buffet.  She was not amused.

Between Pringle and Lockett, pretty good day for the katz
Yeah Pringle had that return and he also downed a punt inside the 5.

Yeah Pringle had that return and he also downed a punt inside the 5 2.

There, fixed it for you.

All this KU QB talk makes me wonder what became of Sparkles.  About 8 years ago, the he was at the Rally House by Oak Park Mall in Overland Park pitching a book that he wrote, but I wasn't able to get there.  Reesing actually did live up to the hype of him being the chosen QB.

Knowles dropped another touchdown pass in the 3rd quarter.  But he looked pretty studly on that 7 yd reception (1st of the game for him).

Dammit!  Howard drops one into his hands in the end zone and he doesn't handle it.  Announcers say KU defender broke it up, but a decent, much less good, wide receiver, would have snagged that.

Don't the biggest beatdowns come in Lawrence?   For some reason the games don't become as lopsided when played in Manhattan.

Just felt like posting this all-time great photo

I went to that game!  I remember when KU got to our side of the field in the 3rd quarter, when the bench was playing, and Snyder pulled the 2nd and 3rd stringers and put in the starters to prevent a conversion.  That really PO'd the locals.

Watched a modern take on Little Red Riding Hood, except Little Red Riding Hood is an illiterate white trash teen girl with her heart in the right place, and Kiefer Sutherland is the big bad wolf in the form of a freeway killer.  Little Red Riding Hood lives in LA and steals her mother's beat up Dodge wagon after her mom gets popped for prostitution (Amanda Plummer).  LRRH then goes to grandma's house (trailer) in Stockton.  Not a Reese Witherspoon fan, but she did a great job acting her character.  Brooke Shields is the serial killer's wife.  An interesting movie.

Has anyone else noticed that he has suddenly become inconsistent in his pass-catching?  I can think of at least 2 TD's he's dropped that were catchable passes.  I know that he comes through with stud plays, but am wondering if anyone else has noticed (besides NFL scouts)?

You should be, we don't have the roster that we can be assured of easy wins against any conference opponent.

Don't players withheld for quarantine and COVID infection kind of make any of these games a toss up?  If I weren't lazy I'd look up the number of affected players on each team, sure makes each game exciting.  Bad exciting for last week's OU, good exciting for last week's Qatz.

None of the gems mentioned the horrors of having to play a game that started at 11am.  At least that's one less thing they're griping about.

I may not have read closely enough, did the land thieves contrive this to be the fault of the Big 12 conference?

I always forget which Morris twin is the deadeye with a pellet rifle, Markieff or Marcus.  Anyway, they thug on:

« on: May 10, 2020, 06:33:06 AM »
pollard has a bit of dirt because he's an open pot smoker and because he let the morrises use his car to take some 15yr old girls around lawrence but i could be talked into seeing him join coach hass on the sidelines as well

It's ironic that in Lawrence that Pollard carries more baggage for smoking pot than he ever did for giving that SUV to one of the Morris twins (then used to party with teen girls below the age of consent).

Heir apparent is Mark Turgeon.  Very few crimson and blue faithful would object to his hire.

When I first graduated from K-State, I got assigned to  Paris.  The company apartment had a bidet, which seemed mysterious, until one of the ladies at work explained how common it was.  She ended up fixing me up with a beautiful French girl.  Came to find out that most French consider you low class / low hygiene if you don't use a bidet.

It was weird to be watching Creighton - St. John's play to the half, and then the announcers said the rest of the game was cancelled.  Looked at my phone, and Big 12 cancelled tourney to....
