Nope Roger Marshall says the opposite and Jerry Moran bragged about delaying the getting mumped for a year. It’s all fine guys.

It just sucks that a bunch of kids are getting royally screwed because of their idiot parents. I want to sit here and say eat crap, I voted in your interest but you were too rough ridin' stupid so good luck, but man, so many kids are going to get caught up in this.

Very intentional too. There is zero chance he knew this word before someone wrote it in the speech for him.

It's "brown bread" ice cream.  Vanilla base with maple syrup and grape nuts.  I dont know what brand of rock salt.  It's off the shelf from HyVee or Ace.

My in-laws make me turn that rough ridin' thing like once or twice a year. I offer to buy them one that plugs in and turns automatically, but apparently me sweating my ass off in 100 degree weather makes the ice cream taste better.

Are we finally at a tipping point here? This bill appears to potentially be a death knell for many rural areas. I'm not a rural KS expert by any means, but i've read enough to know that many of these small towns are almost dead anyway and if they lose nearby hospitals, they are truly effed. Their already minuscule property values are just going to decline further but they prob don't care much about that because they are going to die in their homes anyway because there is no nearby healthcare. Maybe this is a comment in another or its own thread, but i'm genuinely curious. These people are absolutely mumped right?

Congrats to all who bottom ticked the home buying and then bottom ticked the 2.125% 15 year mortgage during covid. Feeling deep sadness for Gen Z tho.

https://x.com/Barchart/status/1940565812563399028

was just having this conversation. i'm locked at 2.75 on a 30. My house value just keeps skyrocketing even though I don't want it to. My first house in PV that I paid 150k for now sits basically untouched from when I owned it amongst mega mansions. I'm sure the owner gets a call or knock on the door daily from someone that wants to buy and knock down. It was an awesome 2 bedroom "starter" home like many others in PV. It's now valued at $350k per tax assessments. Imagine coming out of college and that is the starter home price and your interest rate is 7-8%. No chance of us being able to afford that. It just can't continue...can it?

I had several terrible bouts with the Ivy when I was a youngster but either I developed some sort of immunity to that crap or have just been fortunate enough to not stumble into it anymore.

same with me. I used to get it bad when I was a kid. I would "just get it" at least once a year by being near it and not even in it. It was awful. I just remember by entire arms and legs being covered in bubbles. Suffering through that must have built up immunity or something as I just stopped getting it when I hit HS and now that i'm old ballz.

« on: July 03, 2025, 09:10:58 AM »
No pit stuff here, but i've read that the average will go down as some people will tip less since they won't be taxed. I doubt i'll even think about it. Back in my work travel days, I had a manager that always calculated the tip on the before tax amount. I had never considered that before and it made sense, but I don't do that either.

Before and after school programs is huge.

I don't understand what Maga actually wants.  They want mostly uneducated desperate labor, I get it.  They want that labor to have kids so there is more desperate labor, I get it.  They want to get rid of social programs, I get it.  They want to reduce the definition of "able bodied" from 18y/o to 7y/o, I get it.  They want to reduce child labor laws so that those able bodied 8 year olds can pull an overnight shift at McDonalds, I get it.

The thing is, you simply can't have all of that.  If you want all that labor, you have to make it so they can have kids.  Those kids have to go somewhere from the time they are born to when they become strapping able bodied 8 year olds.  What do they expect the bottom 50% of the country to do?

This is such a dog-caught-the-car moment.  It's wild.

Can someone who voted for this post here and explain the plan, please?

Yep, study after study shows that early child care is hugely beneficial. Plus, common sense shows that helping people out with childcare in general helps parents keep jobs. This is yet another example of them blatantly stating that they don't care about their voters. The problem is the same as before. They will just go on Fox and say all of the above, but that this is what "insert current Dem" wants and idiots will believe it.

Essentially Flyertalk / Re: Unofficial Movie Trailer Thread
« on: July 02, 2025, 07:56:13 PM »
This looks good. But it might be one of those where the trailer is so good that I might be let down by the full movie. Man, the art of trailer editing has skyrocketed the last 10 years. People say it's cliche now to have a reworked popular song but I love it when it makes sense like this. I might read the book first. I read The Martian after watching the The Martian so I'd like to do it the other way around.

Can't recommend the book enough. It was very good. I am excited about the show/movie but to me i do think it showed too much...

I read a couple comments to that effect. The last part of the trailer spoils a revelation in the book. Bummer but I still want to read it. Agree that the trailer should have ended at about 2:20.

I'm not really in to space/alien movies and I enjoyed the crap out of this trailer, but have no desire to see the movie after watching it. Like, halfway through I thought I might check it out, but i'm pretty sure I just watched it but without spending 3 hours.

My daily driver is the csp. Hyatt card for my hotel stays. I haven't churned in a long time.

same for me. I will churn the SW cards every two years with Mrs SF to keep the companion pass, but that's about it for me. Like Rusty, I like to have a mostly central spot for points that I can move around. Since I don't stay at Marriott anymore for work, I use Hyatt mostly for hotel. I try and use SW to fly since I almost always have a companion pass. Outside of those two, I just grab flights that are the most cost effective, usually through Chase. I have room to grab another card or two, I can never decide on which is the best deal for me so I usually just sit tight.

I think SW is gutting the companion pass as well fyi

whoa, haven't heard this. would be a bummer. I'm on my second year so was planning on what type of business Mrs SF was going to be in for the application this fall.

there was a survey sent out hinting at dropping it and/or only being part of a new 6? tier system and only the top tier getitng it. something like that.

Hopefully I can snag it one last time before any changes. I think lots of the other changes are coming soon, so it will prob be too late. Guess I need to plan some more stuff until end of year and they become even more like all the other shitty airlines.

The mainstream media’s clamor over the possibility of a revolt by republican congressmen is so dumb.

The “big beautiful bill” will pass the house.  Resistance from GOP representatives is performative and merely a thinly veiled last minute request for pork barrel concessions…which they will get and which will also result in even larger deficits.

Trump will command the GOP and they will do his bidding until his last day in office.

It's so stupid. The idiot from Alaska voted yes and then said how horrible it was. Moran sent something out about he delayed something for like a year, but voted to wreck rural Kansans. They all know its a crap bill, but they know it won't affect them because as long as Joe Biden has two houses and his kid has a laptop, they will still get their votes with that R next to their name.

I've never had it before, even after for sure being in poison ivy. I guess it's pretty common to get it for the first time later in life.

First started showing symptoms 8 days ago.
It started on my forearms.
Then it showed up on my legs.
Now a huge rash on my neck.
I think it's coming for my face next.

WTF is happening?! Why poison ivy, why are you doing this to me?

Any magic cures or remedies I should know about? Anti-itch creams including calamine lotion have done next to nothing so far.

if its spreading that much, I would head to urgent care asap and get a shot.
