Gilson DeJesus and Nick Williams tried to buy weed from me at a party at University Commons because they heard we were smoking earlier in the night.  They were not happy when I said that I didn't have any.

Sat by Travis Reynolds during a Cats game when he should have been playing.  If I remember right, he quit the team near the end of the season that year. Was probably just there to root on his fellow JC boy QB.

Not a player, but Mark Fox was a complete prick during Asbury's basketball camps.  He would make me run laps non-stop for not following directions.  He would run the whole camp while Tom would make a brief appearance one of the days.

Got to play knockout agains Elliot Hatcher during another Cats basketball camp.  Was proud to lose to that stud.

Helped Manny Dies climb the goalpost after we beat Nebraska in 98.  My friend and I each grabbed a leg and lifted him up.

Saw Tony Kitt on numerous occasions coked out of his mind at different parties after he graduated, and also watched him get in a fight with a guy half his size.  Pretty even fight too, which blew my mind because Kitt was a beast on the court.

I'm guessing a trade for Dillion Gee is going to be the next move by the Royals.  I would be okay with it, if we don't have to give up much.

Santana sure has come a long ways from being dealt for a scrub like Brandon Sisk, to now getting $13.5 million a year for 4 years.  He fits the mold of a Twins pitcher.

Not upset, but not overly excited as well.  Really like that he is a switch hitter, and I hated the idea of the rotating DH. To me that meant Dyson, Infante, Colon, Perez, and Peguero would be getting those at bats
and I would much rather prefer Morales over all of those options besides Perez getting some DH at bats against lefties.

From 2009-13 Morales hit .286/.339/.494 in bad hitters parks.  Let's just hope he shows up in good shape and having a full Spring Training helps him out and proves that last year was an anomaly.

You guys hear the exciting news? Chris Getz is joining the front office in some capacity.

You should check out and post the opening kickoff.  Lockett completely layed someone out on that play as well.

It's Tate!

Bill said he's been battling injury. And if Bill discloses an injury, it must be bad. :frown:

Yeah my younger brother is pretty good friends with Tate, and supposedly he's had 5 surgeries on the same knee since coming to K-State.  I don't think we'll see him on the field anytime soon.  One other thing he told me was that Deante Burton told him that he is 7th on the depth chart right now and that he for sure will be traveling with the team.  It doesn't sound like the coaches want him to redshirt, and it looks like Deante will get a good amount of pt on special teams to start off with.

Wouldn't we want to redshirt a guy who's 7th on the depth chart, though?

You would think so.  That's exactly what I asked, why the hell wouldn't he redshirt with all of the talent we have at WR?  Doesn't make a ton of sense, but a lot of things could change in the next coming months.

Withey dominated that game defensively. NC State was throwing up some ridiculous shots at the end due to his play earlier in the game.  Hope the hawks kill UNC.

Well looks like Trim did more damage to Will than we originally thought. I just got a message from a buddy who works at K-State, saying that Spradling is definitely leaving the team.  This guy is not a big sports fan, so I'm pretty confident he's getting solid info and not from some Wichita radio station. I hope Tay starts working on his ball handling.

the most obvious thing to point out is you all are racists. You can't name Black players you hated because you can't differentiate between them.

How about Tiller, Lacedarius or Byron Houston? Remember when Byron punched Wiley Howard?

Or that one time when Byron got caught jacking off in his car at a stoplight in Oklahoma City. Too bad for Okie State when your all time leading scorer is a repeated sex offender.

Kansas State Basketball is hard / Re: Frank and substitution...
« on: January 25, 2012, 06:38:51 PM »
This is the only thing that ever frustrates me about Frank.  If he wants to pull somebody for doing something stupid then fine, that's his style of coaching.  The thing that drives me crazy is when Vic, Shane, Diaz, Jones, and Angel or Tay are all in together.  And yeah I know that combo might not happen a lot, but you get my drift.  It seems like once a game our announcer makes a comment like "oh wow look at this lineup, where is the scoring going to come from"?  We have a deep enough bench where we don't need to sacrafice 3 or 4 minutes of our worst players all playing at the same time.  Just wish he would mix and match a little better when he's in the pissed off subbing mode.

good god.  there must be a hundred.  bishop fight, ell rape, etc.  what's your personal favorite?

My favorites were the fact that David Allen was driving a new car (He told me it was his brother's) and the constant golf games (told me his clubs were "borrowed" from his girlfriend's dad). That and the massive steroid use during the venables and mike stoops era (Joe Bob, Mark Simineau, Travis Ochs, etc...)

Do you know for a fact those guy were taking steroids or are you just speculating on that?  I have never heard that before.

are you saying that maybe they all just caught shrinkingsmen's disease after they stopped playing?

lol. seriously. what planet are you people from? half our team looked like professional wrestlers in the 90's.

Guess the one player on our 2003 starting defense that didn't take steroids?

matt scott is so butthurt about gameday giving KSU love

I met that guy randomly at a bar in Lawrence a few months back, and boy does he hate him some KSU.  Called it Mancrappening or however you would spell that ridiculous attempt of an insult.  I also brought up the dumbstick comment, so don't worry guys.  It was weird I talked with him and his gf (who was a classy cat) for like 30 minutes.

I'm calling it right here and now: KU misses the torn-a-ment. Sorry all you Self apologists, there's not four or five first-rounders to carry him, especially after TR's injured.

And you're an idiot.  They aren't missing the tournament.

I swear, we've heard about Jamar's "big gains" every off season since he got here.  Yet, he's still skinny and plays like a pussy down low.  I'll be impressed when I see him actually banging in the post.

I actually think that Jamar plays pretty tough down low.  He fights for position down low on the offensive end probably better than any of our bigs.  He just doesn't go up strong all the time, which like Dax said can be pretty frustrating.

this whole "try hard" vs "not try hard" argument reminds of all the morons who voted for Tyler Hansbrough instead of Michael Beasley for POY

Beasley tried very hard on the court, though. He was a much harder worker than Hansbrough.

He was a very good defender, but he wasn't always working hard, and definitely wasn't as good as he could have been.

But Frank managed him beautifully.

You have to work incredibly hard to make getting that many rebounds look that easy.

Or have really good instincts.

Rebounding is not an instinct. It's an acquired skill. It's also the biggest "hustle stat" in basketball.

Yeah instinct was probably the wrong word to use.  I was talking more about how to position yourself and how to read the ball off of the release.

LJ is a big slow back that had success behind one of the best run blocking lines ever and a crap load of carries.

Definitely agree with that.  That line was amazing, especially Willie Roaf.   Regardless LJ played 8 years in the league and is richer than he could have ever imagined.  Not a good example.

Yeah is there anyway this game isn't a track meet?  I'm really looking forward to it, should be entertaining.  I'm hoping that we are able to go on some long 8 minute 80 yard drives to keep RG off the field as much as possilbe.

Citing Larry Johnson as your example Belvis is kind of Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).  The guy ran for 2100 yards his senior year, was a heismen finalist, was drafted in the first round, ran for 1700 yards in back to back years, and played 8 years in the league.  Oh and he's not in his prime.  He's 31 years old and is a running back.  If anything he actually proves that if you can really run the ball, then you can still be a pretty effective back if used right.  And I really don't think blocking and all of the other things that go into being a complete back are not important.  My issue is with the people who have concluded after 8 plays that Bryce can't do anything, but run the ball.  Maybe that's true, but until we actually get some kind of a sample size then it's hard to draw a conclusion either way.

I'm going with the school of thought that the coaching staff has seen Bryce for over a year now and have him 3rd or 4th on the depth chart.  Do you think the coaches are stupid or don't want to win games?  Which is it?  I'm only giving you two options!

stubborn and stupid in this particular case.
