I think Herron will move to another position. He's athletic AF.

Stockpiling a bunch of hs QBs and finding different positions for a bunch of them seems like solid strat imo.

Saban used to say that you recruit every teams running back because he is there best athlete, then move them where you want.

Teams now put that dude at QB more often than not.

2012 we had Childs and Tuggle were both RB's that played defense.  The speed of these two caused the strip fumble for a touchdown against OU.  Team speed in 2012 on defense was great.

Did we offer CK less because we knew that it was going to be a tougher sell to fans? Thinking if we pay him less people will be more willing to accept him as the coach.  Then after a year or two of success they give him an extension with a massive raise.  Will we offer him more on the assistant and recruiting side?

I’m not going to have any reaction until I get a full breakdown from @jrake

if the leading candidates for the job were LittreLL, norvell, klieman, brown, wolford, leavitt, etc., then i will forever believe that gene made the best hire possible by selecting klieman. that doesn't mean i think klieman will succeed. i think it is more unlikely than likely that he will succeed. but keep in mind, i'm defining success by the set of standards that this bipolar, sociopathic fan base has set for the program - which in my view is to win 8 or 9 games every year, never go 6-6 or god forbid sub-.500, seriously compete for the league title every year, and make a CFB playoff run every five years. which simply isn't going to happen.

if i thought the k-state fan base would continue hating klieman into the start of the season, demanding his firing after every narrow victory against an FCS or CUSA school, then i would for sure root for the football team like i never have before (i've never rooted for a k-state sports team). but ya'll will come around. klieman will say "impressive!" things at the press conference, he'll sign a recruit that nobody thought k-state could get, he'll hire a coordinator with a brilliant track record at a directional michigan school, d scott will write a fluffy feature about the star of the spring game ("will this be the next keithen valentine!?!") and it will be Team Klieman all the way.

until he loses the big 12 opener.

then you'll want him fired immediately, and you'll want him replaced with the hot new south alabama coach (!) who won eight games against a schedule that included georgia state, texas state, arkansas pine bluff, savannah state and wagner. "i think he could be really good guys!"

I am anywhere from 6-9 wins a year as long as we look good doing it.  Sub .500 where we are young or have a bunch of injuries I am OK with, but would argue that 6 wins should be possible.  Sub .500 where our team doesn't appear to have direction and is at an overall talent disadvantage I would have a problem with (AKA this year).  Playoffs?  Lets get real we would piss down our leg in the championship game on the very last play of the game to miss the CFP.  That is just the KSU way and as a long time fan am ready for that KITN.

One assistant is a 100% stone cold lock, and that is Sean Snyder.

Will he return to being just ST and not piss everyone else off?  Odds that he stays around more than a year?  What about the real CK, Coleman and Seiler?

I am glad this process is over now but I'm still not excited about this coach.  I'm sure that will change if he wins.  Winning can change a lot of things. 

That being said, I think everyone needs to have realistic expectations because the next few years may be tough due to the cabinets being bare.  Hopefully the assistants he brings are amazing and we can finally start recruiting.

But is it really that bare?  We were a couple plays away from winning against Texas, TCU, Baylor and possibly ISU.  It appears that we have some RS Frosh that can play.  Defense dealt with injuries all year and offense battled itself on who would be QB (identity).  2 non-con + KU = 3 Wins.  Need to get three out of OSU, TCU, Baylor, ISU and TTU (three of them at home) to get to a bowl.  Hang in tough against the other teams and call it a successful year 1 of the rebuild?  Realistic?

What about Josh Gattis?  Been WR/OC for multiple teams.  Learned from Franklin and Saban.  He is throwing his name out for the Temple head coaching position.  Being at Penn State and Alabama should have taught him how to recruit at a high level.  Knows about team prep and coaching for big games.  If we are considering taking a shot with someone at the top of the FCS, why not take a shot at a coach that has been with elite power 5 programs.  Calling PSU elite might be a stretch, but still top 15 in the country.

Maybe, except ditch the powercat and replace with the wildcat head we had at midfield in like 1988 that was 20 yards wide.

I am down with that.  Just think all chrome helmets with shiny purple logo would be sweet.  Could go for a further throw back and go with letters.

We’ve been talking to P5 coordinators not named Venables.

Will take!  If we are going to gamble, let's gamble!   OC or DC?  Is it sad that I just want an exciting team to watch and a coaching staff that can recruit?  11 we lost close games but still was a fun season.

Giving one year and if we don't see improvement on the field and recruiting next year I will not renew my season tickets or parking pass.  Probably wouldn't consider getting them back in the future because of getting used to having my fall Saturdays back.
