Kansas State Basketball is hard / Re: Meltdown-o-meter.... 3/17/2010

Hands down the best thread I've read on here.  Keep up the self-defeating attitude, fellas...it should ease the blow.

If UNT won today, would it be the greatest win in the history of your program?

If so,
Nah...I'd say when we beat Oklahoma State two years ago that was the sign of us turning the corner in building a consistent winner.

Plus, people take notice when you beat a program with actual history and a tradition of winning.

Beating a team coached by a drug addict is your program's greatest win?

He was just a drunk, wasn't he?  Maybe scripts...but he was no Texas Rangers manager.

Also, is your board name also the last line uttered threateningly in a Tempe hotel room?  "Tell anyone about this and there's gonna be Ell to pay."

UNT scouting report (catsfan0304 approved):
A Look at North Texas

The Mean Green went 24-8 (13-5 in the Sun Belt Conference) with a win at Western Kentucky and a loss to Florida International. The Mean Green return 5 starters off of a team that went 20-12 (11-7) last season.

The Mean Green are lead by G's Josh White and Tristan Thompson and F's Eric Tramiel and George Odufuwa. White averaged 15 points/game (leads the team), 2 rebounds/game and 4 assists/game (leads the team). White won Sun Belt Freshman-of-the-Year honors and shoots 83% from the free throw line.

Thompson averaged 14 points/game, 3 rebounds/game and 2 assist/game. Thompson also shoots free throws well (81%) and also co leads the team in 3 point shooting % with White (40%).

Tramiel averaged 13 points/game, 6 rebounds/game and 1 assist/game. Tramiel shoots 56% from the field and Odufuwa and Tramiel are big time shot blockers.

Odufuwa averaged 12 points/game, 11 rebounds/game (leads the team) and 2 assists/game. Odufuwa had 21 blocks and was second on the team with 29 steals last season.

ya happy?

Isn't Asprilla from the Sun Belt?  He should lead the scouting report against these scrubs.  Will be a good way for him to practice his English.

Watched a little of their conf champ game.  They had to play out of their minds to beat whoever the f^ck it was they played.  One guy on their team posterized another dood then rolled his ankle.  Cool play, probably ESPN top 10.  They're like 6" shorter than us at every position.

Bring on Billy Donovan, his greasy hair and Eddie Munster widows peak, cuz da Catz are gonna roll

Freddy left FIU along time ago, way before Josh White got there.  Dude couldn't help scouting, plus, WE DONT NEED HELP.  Even if we play horrible...we still win by 15.

Well then scrap that idea
Josh and Freddy were both freshmen in 07-08...but looking at the box of the FIU/UNT game it seems Aspirilla didn't play.

The same Freddy Asprilla that was Sun-Belt Frosh of the Year in 2008-09?  No wonder he didn't play. He wasn't even an active player on FIU's roster.
You're right...I just pulled up the box score from the 08-09 game and he didn't play in that as well.

I love "next opponent" threads.
You guys already know how your OOC schedule lines up for 2010-11?

6
In all seriousness, you've got a good board and you guys are great about taking jokes in good humor and giving as well as you get. I hope we see a good game on both sides, and may the best team win.

But, if for some reason the best team doesn't win... I'll be pulling for you through the rest of the tournament.

See you all again during football season.

Man, screw that.

No problem.

The other thing is after Tramiel and Odufuwa they only have one other big that plays.  I expect them to be in serious foul trouble in the first half.  They will have a lot of trouble with Kelly and JamSam defensively.
Your podcast and breakdown are fairly accurate, especially considering you've admittedly only watched a game and a half of North Texas basketball.

The other big you mentioned, Jacob Holman will only see the floor if we're in serious foul trouble...he's talented and athletic, but also very much a true freshman and has seen his minutes cut or eliminated as the season progressed.  Cameron Spencer (6'8" 275lb) will see the bulk of the frontcourt reserve minutes...which, again baring foul issues, shouldn't be more than about 15 minutes.  Spencer won't score, but he eats space and rebounds efficiently for his time on the floor.

Either, if not both, Odufuwa or Tramiel will have a double-double.  Mark it.  I'm intrigued to see the interior battles if for no other reason than how good both teams are at getting to the line...and considering both our bigs have been very adept at staying out of foul trouble.

Josh White and Tristan Thompson are at times explosive scorers and at time questionable decision makers...I'm sure that sounds familiar.

Shannon Shorter can play the 2,3 or 4...is our best defender...and is a do the little things kinda player that every team needs.

Our bench has shown flashes of brilliance...but unless one starts to just go crazy scoring the ball, the only one who may see more than 15 minutes is Collin Mangrum, a decent shooter who rebounds and defends well.

All of that considered, I stand by the 100-0 prediction offered up earlier.

I'm pretty sure those idiocratic tards from Texas think that everything in texas is bigger including their score.  So i say let them think of their score as inflated but we all know it won't be come game time. :powerespect:
English...it isn't a strength, huh?

I wouldn't expect you to know this but it does in fact take both a penis and balls to procreate, which I have done on a couple occasions.  By the look of the UNT women, I'd forgo any procreating too.   I'm sorry that you missed the poll a couple months ago of who your favorite Disney Princess was.  I believe Jasmine won in a landslide.  Anyhoo, you keep being obsessed with small school athletics which have no national or even regional relevance.  Meanwhile, I'll be "enjoying" gay men prancing around the ice in full body animal costumes at the Sprint Center remembering how badly we beat the "Not Nice Putting Surfaces/Eagles."  Good day.

My obsession with irrelevant small school athletics will be over after Thursday.

Then, we move on to round two and either the child raping polygamists or the Tebow worshippers.

I really do think this is being criminally overlooked as great mocking point for the Gators.  Say something mean about Tebow and steam starts coming out of their fans' ears.
Really few things make me happier than knowing his combine shuttle time was 6.66 seconds

Bravo, pussycats. I have to tip my hat to you on turning the Racism tables on this kid.

Your school is in a state so dedicated to the opposite of diversity that the census workers can count minorities on their fingers. Even the ones that have lost fingers or limbs in unfortunate thresher accidents don't have to worry about losing track.

Your school is situated in Pottawatomie County, the place that John Brown picked out specifically to make sure he'd be slaughtering pro-slavery advocates.

Your message board has a KKK head ready and waiting right next to the smiling KSU sign happy face, just so your fans won't have to spend too much typing to express their feelings.

If I had a dollar for every black person in Kansas who wasn't on scholarship or drawing a paycheck from the Royals, I wouldn't even be able to afford a full meal at Applebee's or whatever shitbox it is that qualifies as fine dining in your state.

You've all got stones to try and play the racism card. Big, big stones. Except for 1/64th... His wife already took his.
I wonder if 1/64th's wife's name is 3/5th?

I think he means small as far as your impact and influence on the collegiate sports scene.  Also your penises.

Didn't really want to go there......but he's right.   :peek:

It takes a certain breed of... something... to mock ANYONE in a thread that started over his commitment to go see DISNEY ON ICE. We may never know who has a bigger penis, but we can easily find out who has bigger balls. Just have your wife Fed Ex me the jar she keeps yours in, and we'll size things up.

I'm not going to rip on this guy too hard... Under different circumstances, a guy who was going to miss what might have been your first 2nd round NCAA victory in 25 years ought to be excoriated.

But the reality of the situation is that 1/64th, unlike the rest of you, is at least going to have something to distract him from the lingering sorrow during Saturday's second round action.
Do you think that even the humor of James Gregory could cheer them up? http://www.manhattancvb.org/CurrentEvents.aspx?EID=1697

Isn't Nick Collison  the one who forced his younger brother and a friend to engage him in fellatio?
Ironically enough, that was Jim Rayburn

OKC Thunder coach Scott Brooks is going to give Nick Collison the day off on Thursday to watch his alma mater.  Can any of you guys confirm this?  It'd be great to get the chance to try and meet a Kansas basketball legend.
