Do we owe him that remaining $6.5M if we drop his ass, or is there a buyout?
$2.5 mil is the buyout, I believe.

You know who else has won one?

My guy Brad.

At S freakin' FA.
Love Brad and think he definitely should be in serious consideration for the job...but I do wonder how much of his success is due to playing in a very weak league.

UTSA had actually been pretty successful prior to Brad (they got rolling in HC Danny Kaspar's 8th year in 2007-08)

07-08 26-6 (13-3) - Southland reg. season champs, NIT Opening Round
08-09 24-8 (13-3) - Southland reg. season and tourney champs, NCAA First Round
09-10 23-9 (11-5) - 2nd in Southland
10-11 18-11 (9-7)
11-12 20-12 (12-4) - 2nd in Southland
12-13 27-4 (16-2) - Southland reg. season champs, NIT Opening Round (Kaspar took the Texas State job after the season)

The only notable opponent BU has beaten (besides VCU) is Memphis. They also lost to a 10-19 Tulane team earlier this year. Brad is obviously a much better coach than Kaspar, but I do wonder how he'd handle the mess he'd inherit here (ADJC's meddling ass included) as compared to the favorable situation he stepped into in Nacogdoches. He'd be extremely tough to ignore with another tourney upset, though.

Soren was saying with Grunhard that he thinks Bill will retire in August because of "health" to get Sean the interim title and a year long tryout

Soren has been reading too much GPC.

Let's remember to be respectful of the 2010 KStateo Football Poster.  He gave his life fighting for our freedom.

Ok, so I did some digging over the holidays and unfortunately had to interrupt some family time to see if this rumor had legs.

Based on three people I spoke with, who have previous ties to K-State and likely connections to Venables, none of them have heard such a rumor about BV coming back this offseason as HCIW.

How reliable are these sources? One I would think to be pretty well in tune with things, the other two I really can't say. Therefore, I'm not going to say there's absolutely no way and/or that this rumor is 100% false. Time will tell, but the men I interacted with sure acted surprised to hear the rumor because they hadn't heard a peep of anything related to BV.
Sounds like a total Wallace move.

Richt sucks
Yep. Georgia is considered a top 10 CFB coaching job and with the level of talent he's gotten to Athens, he really hasn't done much in the last decade.

delton and this juco wr better be the real deal or we could go 3-9
what about the defense? we're still going to be shitty.
im giving the defense a bit of a pass, the injuries killed us this year
Injuries killed the offense too, tho.
I guess Barnett could come back but most indications are McDaniel is gone so this year might just be a sneak preview.  The bright side is Shelly has been encouraging so maybe Hughes and Sullivan are good.
I have it on very credible authority that Dante will be back next season. Danzel will not be (barring some sort of miracle).

lol @ leach being a good fit at k-state

massive belly laugh lol
Yep. As long as he's been around, he's never even garnered a division title (at least to my knowledge). No thanks.

Danzel played against TCU in the first half, at least. He missed the USD game but he was suspended for that one. His career as a purple cat is over, I'm afraid

The tucks would have a collective aneurysm at the recruiting classes he'd reel in.

I'm not afraid of Keuchel. Although we only got 1 run off of him, we had many chances to get 3 or 4 runs early. Perez, Cain, Morales, Zobrist, Moose and Escobar all seemed to see the ball well off of him, and have good ABs. Hos and Gordon looked lost. But how many times have those guys gone from ice cold to red hot?

If we lose today, its more likely the Houston bats do damage against Cueto early than Keuchel does some Bumgarner routine late.

Hos and Gordo looked bad, but Keuchel usually dominates lefties anyway. I think it all comes down to Cueto, though. Have to have Young ready to go if he struggles early.

I am not a very good fan, and even worse on twitter. I'm willing to be a bad fan if they keep winning and making me look like a fool.
Same.

Bill's last great scheme, he already told Bobby, "listen Bobby, i don't have much time, i want you to succeed me in this limestone purple palace.  throw this game to me, they will can you, and you can start coaching up here by Monday, bring any assistant you want except your brother, Sean will run the special teams of course, and please keep Andre.  Get Venzy back to run the defense, and none of this co-coordinator bs.  one last thing Bobby, i love you."

Not entirely sure if everything has been covered so far ITT, but thought I'd go ahead and post a recap from an A- source...

Barnett- strongly insinuated that he's going to give it a try on Saturday   :crossfingers:

Cook - injury was just a bad stinger, was practicing with Hubes as early as Tuesday at QB. doubtful to be the starter, tho, since Bill wants him at WR due to Heath likely being out  :frown:

Heath - high ankle sprain, doubtful to play  :frown:

Delton - surgery went well, knee wasn't as bad as originally anticipated, expected back around the Baptist game    :)

Burns - will play  :frown:

Shelley - will play

So apparently 8 times out of 8 the team that has won the first game has won the series.  Yeesh it's already over.

The DS has been played for 20 years.

I'm not sure of the constraints, but the announcer quoted this statistic during the game.  Maybe it's when the visiting team wins the first game?  I dunno.  Looks bleak.

You figure Cueto should win today, and we'll lose to Keuchel.  I gotta think Houston picks up one of the other two.
The winner of Game 1 is 8-8 since the format moved to 2-2-1.
