hard to believe that the harbaugh to ku rumors were just that- rumors

I mean his wife is from freaking olathe
smh idk but I have to believe he was in play there before they landed high value target beaty

I don't want to make it seem like I think he's coming back to Michigan, because in the end, he won't.

Harb's will leave us at the alter again, this time for Oakland, and then we'll scramble to find some Schianoish retread.

Michigan has gone all out for Harbaugh since October, there is no plan B.

I just listened to a writer from the Miami Herald who said that the Dolphins owner, Stephen Ross, is also Michigan football's biggest donor. He suspects that Ross leaked that Harbaugh contract offer to attempt to scare the Raiders off and to show what the Dolphins are willing to pay.

Did you mean to say that "Michigan" is willing to pay, or did you mean that the Dolphin's owner is using his alma mater as a means to acquire Harbaugh for himself in Miami?

Ross is working to get Harbaugh back to Michigan, he'll keep Philbin for another season, most likely.

Either way, Miami won't be a player for Jim.

I think the ranking of coaching destinations is heavily dependent on where the coach is from and has recruiting ties to. Somebody from Big 10 country probably would rank Ohio State and Michigan 1 and 2. If you aren't from the area, the Michigan job sucks. Even Rich Rod couldn't win there.

I've been thinking about this, and I kind of disagree (although I used to agree). I think the ability to recruit travels with you. Yes, it's nice to have certain ties to an area, but if you're coaching at OSU or Michigan and know how to handle HS coaches and kids, you'll have instant credibility anywhere you go in the region. I think of the success Urban had in Florida and what a guy like Jim Mora's done at UCLA and think you just need to know what you're doing means more than where you're doing it. The jobs that are top jobs are top jobs largely because they have easy access to gobs recruits, (and is really the biggest factor keeping UNL down).

I could be wrong, though. :dunno:

I think you are probably right about the truly elite coaches like Nick Saban, Urban Meyer and Pete Carroll. There aren't more than 5-6 of those coaches in existence, though. I think fit is very important for most coaches out there. I'm certainly no expert, though.

What about Jim Mora at UCLA? Jim Harbaugh at Stanford? Rich Rod at Arizona? (I know you mentioned him as a failure going to Michigan, but WVU and UM should really overlap quite a bit when it comes to recruiting territory - IMO he had other issues). (It's also hard to think of coaches who go to a new region at all, much less successfully).

don't know, it's interesting to think about.

What do you think RichRod's issues were?

Didn't tailor his offense to suit the players already there, hired Greg Robinson to be his DC, was an bad person. He had some great recruiting classes, though.

Meh, not really, kind of , and LMAO no he didn't.

One thing I noticed about his Ohio State team. They were the most fundamentally sound tackling teams of the era. Don't know who should get the credit, tho.

Brady Hoke

He's pretty fat, so KU could save on coach's gear and office chairs and stuff that Weis left behind, plus, it's just continuity. He has one good year at every place he's coached, which is better than nothing. He'll be unemployed soon, and we'll be paying him 2 mil next year so you could probably get him on the cheap.

He recruits really well, actually. So there's that too. He doesn't wear a headset so you can save a bit there.

I know KU probably has their heart set on Harbaugh, but he's a lot less interested now that the tracks been removed.

Kansas State Football / Re: Piss Pounding Auburn - The Truth
« on: September 13, 2014, 03:39:12 AM »
I guess Snyder was looking to actually achieve a WIN against Auburn since you guys are a collective 0-4 playing AU with the last loss in 2007.  Some like to think you have the greatest QB in the nation, but '07 saw Josh Freeman teaming up with one of the best WRs to come out of Manhattan, Jordy Nelson.  As much as I like Nelson now that he's a Packer, You still lost...

Instead of being arrogant about your chances, maybe you should practice some humility like your great head-coach and see the match-up for what it really is...a great challenge for KSU.  Its ironic that you display such hubris when speaking of Auburn when you don't even realize that had Snyder gotten his way, AU's QB would be your starting QB next week.  What you saw from Baylor last season is going to seem like a slow-motion offense compared to what you'll witness next Thursday night.  Biggest difference, we'll actually field a defense much better than Baylor (or what ISU put up against you last week).

Good luck after next Thursday.  I've always admired Snyder as a coach.

Not that I didn't believe you (I didn't), but a quick search of http://stats.ncaa.org/rankings turned up the following:

2013 Total Defense

K-State - #26
Baylor - #28
Auburn - #86

2014 Total Defense
Baylor - #2
K-State - #35
Auburn - #46

What I find MOST interesting is that you reference LAST YEAR...

Further, perhaps your offense will seem to be in slow motion to our youngsters.  Again, a quick search of the web turned up: http://247sports.com/Article/Looking-at-the-pace-of-play-in-college-football-fastest-teams-29893036

It seems that Tech & Baylor both were in the top 6 of plays per game, with UT at #21 while Auburn failed to make the top 25.  Also, as to actual "pace" or time it takes to snap the ball, Tech was #2, Baylor #4 and UT #20... Again, no Auburn.

 :dubious:

Yeah, plus Baylor is, like, way better than Auburn this year.

Auburn fans think they're first team to run HUNH because  almost everyone else in the SEC plays 90's football, and they're ignorant to any other teams/conferences.

They also think their version is better than other teams/conferences because they've bought this Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) myth that the SEC is somehow a higher quality of football conference.

Because Bubba was a minority

nailed it.

Are we that shallow?

I was surprise you understood such a politically correct way of saying it.  Does that answer your question?

Joking aside, the constant "racist" jabs do get tiresome. That crap happened a long time ago. Give it a rest already.

So racism has been eliminated in Alabama?

Yup, just as much as everywhere else in the world.

That's what I figured. So don't just say "That crap happened a long time ago." It happens now.

eff you and your high horse.

Great post, Tigers. Intellectual, to say the least. BTW, you do to your 'Bama horses what you want (I can only imagine) but we don't drug our horses here and get them to be "high" horses. Guess drugging them is the only way you can have your hideous ways with them down your way.

I have calmed down some. I guess what really ticks me off about this crap is that I personally knew three people who were shot because of their race in robberies in Memphis, in two different events. In both cases the victims were white and the perps were black. This was testified to by surviving black victims of the robberies.

Where is the outrage? Where is Jesse Jackson and Sharptown. Where was the media? Where was the US so-called Justice Department with their civil liberties and hate crimes charges?
Modern race baiting is bullshit, and I am tired of listen ting to the holier than thou crap on here. Fun is fun, but there is a point where it goes too far.

You seem like you're really bummed that you can't lynch black people without repercussions, anymore.

their fans are jacked on twitter about it. good for them. if we got those i would burn the stadium down

Likewise, I'd be rather perturbed if Adidas rolled out some purple unis for us.

I would be perturbed if Adidas rolled out any uniform for us...

As a fan of a school who had Nike until 2008, and now wear Adidas, I can confirm that they are effing terrible. All of our alternate uniforms have looked like some version of the bumble bee chick from the "No Rain" video.

Well, you did manage to beat Michigan in your bowl game.  That should take the sting out of losing to a Division II squad.  Look at what beating Michigan did for App State when they were Div II  ;)

Hey! go eff yourself, pal!

 :impatient:
The term sodomy derives from the biblical story, but the term and its meaning post-date the bible.  It is clear that the bible condemns any type of sexual relations outside of marriage, but the "unnatural" acts referenced in the story of Sodom & Gomorrah and elsewhere probably refer to gay sex.  I don't know of anything in the bible that actually condemns anal/oral sex among consenting married adults.

Ok, so why does the bible consider being gay immoral? I'm learning a lot here guys, never read the bible and haven't really ever contemplated religion more than superficially.

Not that I'm against religion or anything,I guess I'm just indifferent, but if they have some awesome explanation as to why being gay is "wrong" then maybe I can be swayed. I don't buy it being unnatural though, it exists in other species and is pretty clearly not a "decision".

15
Does anyone have cliffs on why sodomy is viewed as immoral? I know the bible had some story about the sodomites and the entire city died or something, I don't know, is that it?

Seems pretty flimsy.

I feel like some of this our (Michigan's)fault for making Waters look so good in the bowl game.

Could Hoke have set you guys up for the long con? I mean we did have 2 of our starting DB's suspended and Gardner out with an "injury".

Perhaps, he decided it was best to sacrifice an already terrible season to push out Mike Bishop 2.0 and make our(Michigan's) path to the 2015 NC that much smoother.

Now, the question is, did he pay off Lockett for "the drop"??  :gocho:

all good questions.  an even better question for you:  why is mgoblog so terrible?  it makes me dislike u of m and I don't want to do that.

I don't know man, it's ran by this hipster weirdo guy. The message board is the absolute worst, if you hate the content, then NEVER venture over to their message board, never...

i've woken up a few times recently in the absolute best mood ever, completely laughing my ass off. i also remember thinking i had just developed the funniest joke/story ever told while i was sleeping, but can never remember what it was the next morning.

I did the best joke thing this morning, actually.

I remember the punch line ended with something hacky like "...that shouldn't be something that happens."
Can't recall the rest of it, but trust me when I say it killed in my dream, like "standing O" killed.

". However, I look for Michigan to rely more heavily on their trio of backs and hope their offensive line can control K-State’s adequate (but not great) defensive front 7 to protect Morris as much as possible."

Our OL is horrible, and we've rushed for negative yards in like 4 games. The only reason we average 3.25ypc is because Gardner usually picks up a few long scrambles a game.

With that said, I have no doubt Borges will try to run almost exclusively, he ran our RB's 27 times against PSU.....for 27yds.  :Crybaby:

I can't wait for him to get fired, our only chance is just to just try to air out with the freshman and use our frosh RB's as a change of pace.

Good points. I do think Michigan faced better run defenses than they will see against us, though we aren't terrible. I'm also anxious to see if you guys are willing to run Morris, especially some of the zone/power read/speed option stuff that you seemed to use often near the goalline. Gardner reminds me of a more polished/experienced Daniel Sams; elusive, but more quick than fast. He also looks to have a better arm throwing down the field, but your OC did do a good job getting him on boots and roll outs where he could run it when needed. The Gallon kid is scary, if he can get the ball in space you guys will get some big plays against the K-State defense, and the backs can make some plays as well.

Was Toussaint hurt down the stretch?

No, he just sucked.

Well, really the OL sucked so bad that he could never "get going" Toussaint is a good runner in space, a guy recruited for the Rich  Rod spread. With our OL he could never get any space so his runs would be like -3,-2,-1,12,8,-3,-2,-3,10.

We eventually started giving more carries to our 2 freshman who are more "between the tackle runners", this helped a bit as they can get 2/3yds out of nothing, which is typically what they have to work with.

This is good confidence building for Michigan fans. They'll be able to say "we lost because our qb sucked" instead of "we lost because we suck"

We're a pretty cynical bunch, most of our fans already know/expect to lose, because we suck.

I'm sure we will suck more with Shane, but Gardner has lost us as many games as he's won. It's a big loss if ND/OSU Devin would have shown up, but we were just as likely to get Akron/MSU Devin and lose anyway.

wtf does your conference affiliation have to do with how you match up against a certain team? what's wrong with you?

L Clemson vs Ohio State
L Virginia Tech vs UCLA
L Duke vs Texas A&M
L Miami vs Louisville
L Boston College vs Arizona
L Syracuse vs Minnesota
L Maryland vs Marshall
L Pittsburgh vs Bowling Green

which one(s) of the above would you change, you weirdo?

Maryland,Pitt,BC, and maybe Clemson.
