 That was all glorious.

When Lucy Van Pelt said "Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you're the Charlie Browniest", she wasn't talking to Charlie Brown; she was talking to Iowa State.

My favorite.

BGG, he is off the roster right now and will not be on the WS roster either

So he can still be in uniform and in the dugout?

Weird

Most fun sports summer ever?

I think so.

A couple years ago, Stan and I went deer hunting. He shot this monster buck with a bow from about 300 yards. We proceeded to load the buck in the back of my truck (Stan doesn't own a truck, he's way to cool for that.  Just borrows one when he needs one).  We start driving home and the buck starts thrashing around in the back. Wasn't dead.  Wasn't NEAR DEAD!  Stan jumps out and proceeds to get this monster buck in a headlock. He yells at the buck "who's the greatest college football color man of all time!"  Then he manipulates the deers lips into saying STAAAANNNNN WEBBBBBEEEER.  Well, it didn't sound exactly like "Stan Weber" but it was pretty good for a deer.

It's hard to be the angriest fans I'm America when oscar is your coach. With Frank it was natural.

At freshman orientation for my daughter 4 years ago, Pat Bosco gave me his cell phone number and told us if we needed anything just give him a call. Well we never needed anything.

I have Pat Bosco's cell # in my phone guys!  Feels pretty elite!

True story:  Jack Hartman is a native of Dewey, OK, about an hour away from Okie State, where Hartman played collegiate basketball.  Hartman always had an affinity for the Pokes.
Although at this point it probably is just nit-piking but I once worked with a fellow who said his father went to HS with Jack at I thought Shidler OK, which  is on the East side of Kaw Lake on the highway South of Dexter.  Shidler is 100-150 miles West of Dewey but is about an hour from Stillwater while it may be 1-2 hours from Dewey to Stillwater.  Again, I think, but not positive, he was recruited to OSU to play FB and his first job out of college was as an assistant to Coach Iba for the Cowboys BB team, but I cannot remember if Jack actually played basket ball in college.

This is another old geezer story: before he went to Coffey JC, where he won a National JC BB championship, in the 1950's Jack was the HS BB coach at either Plainville or Phillipsburg (one of the "P" towns North of Hays). Can anyone verify that fact and what town it was?

He was the head basketball coach and head football coach at Plainville.

After he retired he did the color analysis for radio.  my wife called him the colorless color man. He was horrible. I mean way worse than coach Z horrible.

Like my wife said in her sleep last night, DO ME ChiCat!

The TV show thread made me wonder if you should go in with an official looking camera man and a microphone like you are coming to interview them about the phone they "found".  Probably safer than a throw down.

Great game.  Great crowd.  Legends room needs to be twice the size.

Too many Legends. Not even fun. Should be reserved for just me and my friends. And Ernie Barrett.

I am afraid of being PI'd by Trim. Met Daris in OKC that magical night of the Cats win/KU loss. Been lurking sense.

I was in OKC that night with OrangeCityCat.

I seem to remember you got in a tussle with a KU fan that night.

I sit in Section 17. Someday I'll say Hi.
:surprised:

Yeah, if BGG met Daris and observed me, he almost certainly met/observed a who's who of gE simultaneously.

AIN'T NO SWEETS!!!!  Best thread ever btw.

Like 40 of 'em.

It'll have to be in a few years.  I'm not in the fOOD.

I've only been to the GW game this year. I used to be a silent member of Team BID. Now I'm on team _Fence. Come back. It's fun. You not being there isn't going to change anything.

This.  Ain't no sweets!  I was with my wife and 4 daughters. Would have bought you all a round but the line was too long at the bar. I still owe you.

Kansas State Football / Re: Is KU football the worst program of all time?
« on: September 15, 2013, 02:10:14 PM »
KSU fans have a very very short memory. Back in the late 1980's, Sports Illustrated had an article ran that labeled KSU as the worst program of all time.

Well now you're just making stuff up.
