Kansas State Basketball is hard / Re: The effect of oscar's title game
« on: April 10, 2012, 07:36:45 PM »
similarly, there's no real difference between winning the national championship and playing in the national championshio game.  that's why oscar weber is a national championship winning coach.

Would oscar have been fired if he had won the game and had similar results for the next 7 years?

Of course not.  Even though the argument can be made that he won with Self's players, he did coach the team.  That's why I think you guys will have a pretty good year next year.  It's the years after that I'd worry.  Let's face it, basketball like any job is all about what you've done lately, and lately his results were horrible.  Lately being the last 5 years.

Maybe Weber won't make the same mistakes he did at Illinois.  For your sake, I honestly hope he doesn't.  Just don't be too quick to hop on the bandwagon after next year.  History has a way of repeating itself.

May want to read both sides before you blindly follow him.  I bought the "honest and classy" routine for 8 years before I woke up.  Anyone really interested can read a rebuttal to the Manhattan article on Weber here. http://alioneye.com/

PurpleKrush.. leave these people in peace.  It's not bad enough that you spew your Weber-first crap all over the Illinois boards, you feel the need to do it here too?  Weber was a nice guy.  He wasn't paid to be a nice guy, he was paid to win ball games.  He didn't and got fired.  End of story. Make excuses all you want about Eric Gordon, etc...  it was old news years ago.

PurpleKrush represents the views of the majority of the Scout board.  They are delusional,  pro-Weber (not pro-Illini) and thin-skinned beyond belief.  DO NOT take what this idiot says as representing the majority opinion of most Illini fans.

I'm sorry you guys have been invaded by Illini posters.  Most of us came here simply to sympathize with you as we know what you are going through firsthand.  Only difference being you guys already know what you're getting.  Good luck.

Purplekrush is obviously one of the delusional Illini whiners from the Scout board.  Probably also known as either Peoriaman or Nova.  Please disregard.

Currie reminds me of our ex-AD, Ron Guenther.  He got burned by a couple of coaches that left so now he wants the "safe" hire.  The guy who will never leave (no matter how much you want him too).  I understand the meltdowns but a lot of your success or failure next year will be in how much of your current team stays and how much they buy in to Weber's system... such as it is.  You guys have one heck of a point guard, something Weber could never recruit at Illinois and that's key to his motionless offense.

Sorry guys, I'm trying to find the silver lining for you, I really am.

I'm in a bad state of mind right now, and probably just being dense, but wtf are you talking about?

oscar Weber, ever the master motivator decided to have a "funeral" for Bill Self when he took over the Illinois program.  That and the following video have become a running joke over the years.  I'm sorry that you now have to deal with it.

I have never felt the way that I'm feeling now about an athletic team/hire/whatever.  I am just out of my mind angry.
We need to come up with some nicknames for him! Something that will describe just how shitty he really is.

We just called him Bubbles.. because that's where you were most years.

From an Illini fan who wished we'd gone after Frank Martin...  you guys have my most sincere and deepest sympathies.  It took 9 years and a new AD for us to get rid of him... hopefully you don't suffer that long.

I actually like K-State.  Be prepared for 30 seconds of passing the ball around the perimeter followed by a desperation three.  Oh, and the bonus of having Weber stand on the sidelines shouting "MOOOOOOOVE!" for 2 hours.  You guys are right to be upset.  K-State is certainly better than this.
