The problem is oscar won too much too soon.

Also, oscar told the players over the summer No. Colorado would be a tough team but they didn't take him seriously.

You guys have to be vocal. That disgrace of a person is literally sucking the fun out of your basketball program.  Anybody would be an improvement.  Anybody.

A friendly suggestion is to get former players to speak out.  Our bball alums didn't speak out until he was gone out of loyalty.  But loyalty should be to the program.  When your program hires an ass clown you need to just call him such and get rid of the bad person as soon as possible.

Who didn't see this coming?   Especially after oscar trashed him post tourney.

What did oscar say? I thought he just said Angel was playing hurt?

This was always oscar's biggest flaw, his insatiable desire to blame his players, assistants, athletic director, or fans for his own failures.  It is why his teams at Illinois were marked with such poor chemistry (aside from his second year).  It shows his true colors that he is so willing to talk down his players to anyone who will listen,  A complete 180 from almost all other coaches, most of whom use that kind of negative stuff sparingly because they want to build their players up rather than tear them down.

Something to the effect of "we needed someone to make a play and they didn't"

It doesn't get much worse than blaming your best player for your tournament loss.

On the bright side, Weber won't have to explain any more NCAA losses for a few years.  We all know how awkward he feels.

That was great.

This is all a foregone conclusion.  There is no way Weber makes the tournament the next two years with midmajor level freshman point guards.  It just isn't happening until they are uppeclassmen, and it might not happen then.  Who are you going to have inside?

Don't make the same mistake we did by letting him hang on and drag the program deep into the gutter.  Best case you give him two years of missing the NCAAs then fire him if his players are not looking like they can make it in the third year.

It really is incredible that people in charge of a million dollar basketball program decided to not allow oscar Weber to run the program into the ground but overpay him to do so.  So sorry for the loss of your basketball program.

show me MIAMI!

If he can fabricate a sick relative, he won't even have to sit out a year....boom, take over for Larkin next year.

Wow, how did you know this?  (I think at this point Miami as his destination is a forgone conclusion.)

Creepy.

Weber has been slighting Self for almost a decade now.  Aside from the funeral he boasted he "kicked [Self's] butt" when he coached SIU against Illinois when Bill was there.    (Even though he lost the game.)  Then just in the last week or so he made a crack about KU getting the title because of the officials.  Which while true is a really dumb thing to say, especially when the season's not over.

But if that wasn't enough, think about what Self went through losing to Bucknell with Roy's players while oscar Weber got coach of the year with his ... and acted like he did it all himself too.

There is a story on the Illinois board about a couple fans that bumped into Self at the Final Four in New Orleans right after Weber was hired.  They wanted to know if we hired a good coach and he wouldn't answer, he just looked at Norm Roberts and smiled.

Look, it's true KU has better players and better coaches ... but Bill's teams come out flat at times, and that is never gonna happen against KSU so long as Weber is still there.

Who is Weber going to bring in that's better?  Another Orris?

oscar loves Spradlin and guys like him.  He ruined our season last year by making a kid just like him our starting point guard.

who ruined your season this year?

We're in the tournament which is all I could have asked for with this team.  With the same guys, minus Meyers Leonard, we're looking like an 8 or 9 seed.

I'll leave you guys alone but my bitterness is still raw.  I see almost all of you see it for what it is but I wanted to set the record straight.  Looks like I didn't need to.  The funny thing is there are more people on our boards that think Weber is just unlucky than on yours.

oscar coached Illinois to its best season ever.  To bootstrap that into best nine year run is dishonest.  He had one of the worst six year runs ever.  I would trade his tenure for that of Henson's in the eighties in a heartbeat, and if a genie granted me one wish it would be that Weber never coached in Champaign.  We went from winning conference titles three of six years before he showed up to missing the tournament and being a basketball embarrassment.

oscar Weber needs to bring in a point guard to replace Angel.  That position will determine his legacy at KSU.

I suggested you guys could win your conference this year.  You have nice players.  I dont believe your future is as bright unless oscar somehow gets enough common sense to recruit some ball handlers.

Maybe if you guys are really mean to him he will start crying and just quit.

The scariest part is that the only real success oscar has had has been in year 1 with someone else's players. If there was any reason for optimism going into this season based on oscar's track record it was this. The talking point favored on other boards that we need to wait until oscar gets his own guys in here is not based in reality. It's going to get worse. Much, much worse.

The only positive thing I can say about Weber and your situation is that his first year at Illinois started horribly.  We looked like garbage and we lost a brutal game against Providence where we looked like we had never practiced before and yet that team rebounded and won the Big Ten title outright and made the Sweet sixteen and then we had our 39-2 season the next year.

The problem is that this was 1 1/2 seasons out of nine where his offense looked like something the team had practiced.  Not to mention, he had some all americans and all conference players on that team. I think the only reasonable conclusion is that Weber had little to do with that team snapping out oftheir funk.  I think they just learned to tune him out because after a few months they figured out he was a total moron.

Anyway, I'm just saying there is a chance the team figures it out.  Of course, this could end up being a bad thing because it could mean nine years of oscar Weber, and I personally would trade those twoseasons for a chance to do it over with another coach, but the fact is those guys did figure it out.  On their own probably. But it happened.  No thanks to oscar Weber.

You guys are seeing the b.s. machine that has protected oscar for so long.  Franchilla, with a straight face, claims the team has to play grind it out ball, even though they won a tourney game last year not grinding it out.  This is why nobody would say a bad word about oscar to Curry ... because coaches won't say a bad word about another coach to anybody.  Publicly at least ... amongst themselves I'm sure quite a few are laughing their asses off.

Anyway, this is my last post for a while.  Not trying to pile on, just trying to spread the truth about oscar.

If the kind of basketball you saw tonight got him hired, why would it get him fired?  Didn't Currie watch any Illinois games last year?

Are you guys really going to let Currie replace Snyder?  That simply can't happen.

It's not the players it's the coach.  Weber doesn't know what the eff he's doing so the players don't know what they're supposed to be doing.  When oscar Weber is out there yelling and waving his arms he's just pretending.  He doesn't know what he's doing, so he just has to act like he does.

He's an abomination to college basketball.

It just feels like the cupboard is bare because Captain Miserable is your coach.

We thought the cupboard was bare too but we hopefully are halfway decent.

I know you guys have it under control but some of you still need to realize, it is not the players.  When the team looks dazed and uncertain and cannot shoot or pass it is because they are getting inconsistent and confusing coaching.  Our beat writer said that if a player had a question under Weber each assistant and Weber would have a different answer.  There is a fundamental level of incompetence with Weber that is kind of amazing considering how far he has made it in coaching.  We looked dazed and confused with no purpose the last six years Weber was on campus.  It is not the players it is him.

But with that said, my point is made so I will mainly leave you guys be.  I can't promise I won't come by and chime in though at some point.  The truth does need to get out.

Pretentious frauds like Currie will never admit to anything.  Deny, deny, deny.  His enablers will support him and spread lies and misinformation to distract from the truth of things.

This guy not only hired a program killer for his basketball program, he gave him a multi-year $1.7 million a year deal that would cripple the program if he had to be terminated.

This is why so long as Currie is your AD you will hear nothing but propaganda about how fabulous and honest oscar Weber is.  Don't be surprised to see the focus go from being a winning coach to being an honest coach who doesn't cheat and who supports local businesses and buys only local produce at the Manhattan Farmer's Market.  After all, the only Reason oscar Weber doesn't win is because he doesn't cheat.  He is a top five coach in the country but he won't play dirty pool when it comes to recruiting like all good teams do.

That is all Weber and Currie can do because nobody that is concerned with winning is going to want to watch oscar Weber's abomination of a basketball program.  Five guys milling around with no purpose is not an offense but it's what KSU hoops fans are going to have to deal with while B Dubs is around.  The whole I had a great offense in 2005 doesn't really matter much when it is 2012.

« on: November 24, 2012, 11:26:55 AM »
oscar is the reason his players play bad.  Brandon Paul was awful last year.  Awful shot selection.  Awful passer.  It is oscar's coaching and his offense.  oscar coaches scared, he wants his kids to play like it is the 1950s.  That is why his players can't relax and just play.  How he made an NCAa final is beyond me.  Those guys must have just learned to tune him out.

Just don't make the mistake of piling on the players.  oscar blamed them his entire time at Illinois.  He was the reason.  He was the only reason.

Re: Rodney

oscar Weber has that effect on people.  If you had some guy who could never play basketball telling you everything you did was wrong you'd be depressed to.

There is a reason Weber has underachieved his last five years.  Its because he sucks and blames it on his players.  oscar Weber is a huge loser nobody likes and is no fun to be around.  He will bury everyone with negativity and it will feel like heaven the day he's gone.

Can you guys send Weber to a sports psychologist?  He coaches with his arms crossed shuffling up and down the sideline and screeching instructions the whole time.  He looks rough ridin' nuts.  Who wants to be around that?

He is such an bad person.
