Our defense is playing really well, minus the deep route by the slot guy.

Our Offense was starting to get it going towards the end of the half, finally.

The adjustments we need to make?

STOP PUNTING TO JOE ADAMS. - If we stop, they won't score. Easy as that.

PREVIEW

Oh Jeeze, the one we have all been waiting for and worried about is now upon us. That giant, Oklahoma, is coming to town and they sure are pissed after losing a game at home against Texas Tech. Landry Jones (when is this guy gonna disappear, i feel like i have heard his name for the last 6 years!) is one heck of a quarterback, and that entire offense is just one big monster. Sure, he's no Robert Griffin, and he doesn't have the numbers that Case Keenum puts up year after year (Houston as a school is a quarterbacks dream), but Landry sure knows how to play and he gets it done week after week. With that set of running backs, it almost doesn't matter who is in for their run game either, Whaley is a stellar former walk on who has really turned it up a notch this season. Ryan Broyles is one of the best wide recievers in all of college football, and OU even has their own under rated and under appreciated fullback in Trey Millard. On a side note, some of us Kansans must know of Marshall Musil, of Lacrosse, KS. who is a backup fullback for Oklahoma. I would be lying to you if I said that I sometimes don't wish that Millard would get injured, just so I could see Marshall get in the game. I had the priviledge of playing against him in high school, and we beat him (barely), and the kid is good!

Anyways, on to the game. As stated, Oklahoma's offense is a seemingly unstoppable machine at times. However, Kansas was able to hold them for an entire two quarters and keep the game close. Yes, thats right, KANSAS. Only the last place defense in almost every statistical category. This goes to show that OU can be slowed down and even stopped. Some of the things that scare me, though, is that a team as good as Oklahoma RARELY loses two games in a row. Also, a team that just came off a close loss at home is gonna be extremely angry and fired up, and much more focused on their next game in order to avenge their loss. Therefor, i'm worried that OU is gonna come into this weekend fired up and ready to roll on us. But, seeing as they lost to Texas Tech, and we beat Texas Tech, our guys should gain alot more confidence stemming from that. And we all know ol' Bill is gonna have them as focused and ready to play as ever. Oklahoma has yet to play a team with a mobile quarterback like Collin, and our mix of players does cause matchup problems with just about anyone. You can take away our run game, and we will find ways to hurt you with the pass. You can take away our pass game, and Klein and Hubert will just tear you apart. You can take away both of them to a certain degree, and Collin Klein will still find ways to tear you up running the ball. We have some tight ends with incredible hands that are also very good at blocking. All in all, each spot on the field can potentially cause matchup problems.

Against Kansas and Texas Tech, Oklahoma's Defense looked like they had never played the game of football at times. As a matter of fact, for most of the Tech game, Oklahoma's defense looked like high school kids. Look for Klein to take advantage of that weak link in the OU defensive backfield, Gabe Lynn, who single handedly gave Tech an entire drive in 3 consecutive plays (defensive pass interference, unsportsmanlike conduct, then allowed a pass completion for td. in 3 plays.) The linebackers for OU, however, are pretty good. Lewis is a good player and he will be a tough guy to go up against. He's smart, he's fast, and he's a future NFL player, mark my words.

For us, our pass defense doesn't look too good, but our statistics in that have been somewhat screwed. I mean come on, we had to face some of Colleges best quarterbacks this year. Harris, Griffin, Franklin, Doege. And now Jones. And after that, Weeden. Then after that, Tannehill. Then we end it on Steele Jantz. I mean honestly, we have the roughest schedule in terms of good quarterbacks we have to face. So of course our Pass Defense is gonna look a little bit bad, but really, its done well against high caliber, most likely future NFL quarterbacks. The keys to this are, bend and don't break. Landry is gonna make some passes on us, of course he is. Just don't let him put it in the endzone too much. Garrett needs to be man to man with Broyles all game, while Malone needs to play maybe some zone, or QB read type positions. Put him in a position to make a big play on the ball, because it is what he is good at. Our Defensive ends MUST maintain pressure on Jones all game long, do not allow him to set up comfortably play after play or else it will be a long day for us. Arthur needs to just keep being Arthur, flying to the ball every play and making the big stops when its critical. Our safeties must not let anyone beat them deep, keep everyone underneath them so that they can make the play before it breaks into a huge gain. I believe if we do all of this, we have a good chance of pulling this game out.

Offensively, we must keep doing what we have done all season. Nothing too flashy, nothing to big. Just make no mistakes, keep a nice mix of run and pass, and always have the defense on their heels wondering what the true The Chamber Collin Klein is gonna do next. Harper needs to play at the level he has been at all season, and Broderick needs to consistently be our deep threat. Make use of Braden Wilson a little more again this game, and that just gives us one more way of keeping Oklahoma on the tips of their toes. Again, Oklahoma hasn't really faced an offense quite like ours yet this season, so this should be a fun game to watch, and one of the best games of the college football season.

COLLIN KLEIN DARK HORSE HEISMAN??!!

Haha, no. But I wish he was. Honestly, if Klein was a Running Back, he might actually be a dark horse candidate.
35th in the nation in rushing yards.
4th in the nation with Rushing Touchdowns.
And 4th in the nation in Points Scored.

Pretty good numbers if he was a running back right? But he's a quarterback, and i wouldn't have it any other way.

FINAL PREDICTION:

I believe that if we do all the things I talked about, we win this game 42-35. Thats ONLY if we do what I discussed....

Now that we have an official Quiznos rep here, I have a bone to pick. Even though I almost never eat quiznos, I had a favorite  sandwich. It was called the Cabo Chicken Club. It had chicken and bacon and guac and chipotle ranch sauce. That sandwich is now gone, replaced by the far inferior turkey bacon guac. Please note my complaint and give me a coupon.

Actually, punitrator, the "Cabo Chicken" was not replaced by so mentioned, and by far inferior, Turkey Bacon Guac. Both sandwiches were around at the same time. The cabo, however, must not have been a big seller, being outsold namely by the other chicken sandwhiches, IE Baja, Mesquite, or Honey Mustard, which were all better tasting combinations. Quiznos has a habit, also, of taking away the things that everybody likes, and then bringing them back at a later date, not sure if this is being done as a future marketing tool (take away the sandwich, bring it back later and say "limited time only") or if Quiznos is just stupid as a company. I myself have no say in these things, im just the lowly dishwasher/sub maker. It is possible, however, for you to come and ask for the Chipotle MAYO, and ranch, and add guac. easy to do, and we wouldn't mind doing it. Thank you.

Only thing I can think of is sloppy people getting that  :lick: Batch 83 sauce all over the trays.

I always just throw my tray away and COMPLETELY ignore the sign that says not to throw your tray away.  From now on whenever I'm done, I'm gonna throw my tray away and yell "AND THIS IS FOR JMENZ!!!"

Score by quarters is at bottom of team statistics. If you take away the 14 we scored in the 3rd and the 3 they scored, their total going into the game was 79 Tech 3rd quarter points scored against only 21 by opponents.

I was just getting to that part of the page lol

I was sadly washing dishes in the back of the quiznos on Hayes Drive during the KSU - Texas Tech game. Thankfully, we had it on on the radio and I could listen to it. I heard a statistic that somewhat blew my mind...it went along the lines of, and don't quote me exactly i may get the numbers a little off...but supposedly all year long Texas Tech has outscored oppenents in the 3rd quarter with 70 some points scored compared to just lower 20's, if that.

Not sure i remember exactly what the actual statistic was, but it sounded outstanding, and the fact that we held them to just 6 points total in the last half, says something to the nation about our defense. I'm sure many people now are wondering...Just how good are the Cats?

In UFC terms, lets take a look at the "tale of the tape"

OFFENSE

Rushing: KSU - 206.0 (25th)     KU - 206.8 (23rd)
Passing: KSU - 130.2 (109th)    KU - 218.3 (69th)
Ppg: KSU - 29.3 (58th)     KU - 31.7 (40th)
Total Offense: KSU - 94th   KU - 40th

DEFENSE

Rushing: KSU - 96.8 (16th)   KU - 227.2 (110th)
Passing: KSU - 248.8 (84th)  KU - 337.8 (110th)
Opp Ppg: KSU - 19.5 (21st)   KU - 49.0 (120th)

SOME HISTORY

Sadly, Kansas currently leads us in the rivalry historically as our current record against them is 37-63-5. On a better note, in a 12 year span with LHC Bill Snyder as the head coach, KSU beat Kansas 11 times with the only loss during that span coming in 1992. KU wouldn't win again til a home game in 2004. Last seasons game was a blowout, 59-7, In Kansas States favor.

PREVIEW

(11) Kansas State (6-0, 3-0) have started out ranked nicely in the BCS standings. Coming off a huge win down in lubbock where the wildcats faced, yet again, a high powered offense featuring a young star in the making quarterback, Kansas State is looking ahead to a break in their season as they go to Lawrence to face the Jayhawks. Kansas State's defense should be able to handle this one pretty easily as they have had to face four straight games of high powered, big play offenses and have stepped up to the plate in those games. With KU, they are facing a good but not great set of offensive players. Obviously the key is to stop Jordan Webb, who might be KU's best player at quarterback since Todd Reesing. Another player that KSU is gonna have to key on and make sure they know where he's at is freshman #3 Darrian Miller, who has shown that he is one of the future stars for this ailing team. Miller had a strong showing against Oklahoma and this kid can run. He never goes down on first contact and always seems to get them 2 or 3 yards no matter what happens. Our D-line is fast and strong, and if they get ahold of him he shouldn't be able to fall forward as much as he did against Oklahoma. And even if he gets by the defensive line, our linebackers won't let him get anywhere. Webb, though  he's no Doege or RG3, has shown that he can get it done and his stats on the year are not too bad (11 tds to 5 ints, 1,238 yards).

Defensively, look for our d-line and linebackers to pressure Webb all day. Our line is much better then their o-line and we should be able to control the line of scrimmage, forcing KU to throw the ball more then they are wanting to. They are more comfortable running the ball and if we force them to pass early, it could throw them off all game. KU fans better hope Webb can run, because he's gonna be scramblin around most the day. Malone is playing at an All American level, and Garrett is consistently shutting down half the field, so with KU being forced to pass it could turn into more turnovers for our defense. They have some talent at wide reciever, namely Daymon Patterson and D J Beshears, but they don't amount up to our defensive backs talent wise. Again, defensively we should easily control this game from the start.

Offensivly, we should have a hay day. KU consistently ranks last or near last in each defensive category. Klein, Hubert, hell even Vai Latui would be able to rack up rush yards on these guys lol. Collin Klein should have a huge day, KU showed up strong in the first half of the game against OU but landry jones isn't the same kind of runner as Klein is, and that should be hard for KU to stop. Hubert and Pease are a nice combination as well, and KU will even have to watch out for Pease throwing the ball out of the wildcat. Offensively we run the table on their defense, and this game should be a blowout of epic proportions. We finally deserve one of those lol

It is a rivalry game, and you never know what can happen during these. But when your team has so much more talent then the other, its so hard to not expect a blowout.

PREDICTION

Kansas State stays undefeated on the season with a 49-24 victory.

Passing: KSU - 127.0 (109th)   Tech - 354.6 (6th)

Opp. PPG: KSU - 16.5 (17th)  Tech - 22.8 (45th)
Total Defense: KSU - 17th   Tech - 94th

Lets take a look at my predictions so far.

Baylor @ KSU - Predicted a win for the Cats in a "much closer game then anyone realizes." Final Score - 36-35

Missouri @ KSU - Predicted a win for the Cats, 35-28. Actual score, 24-17. got the point spread right, just not the numbers.

GAME PREVIEW

Kansas State went into the game against Missouri as the 20th ranked team in the nation, but still a 3 point projected underdog. The Tigers have a very potent mix of running and passing, able to move the ball either way against most teams. The Kansas State defense, however, showed why KSU is one of the top stories in College Football this year, as they stopped the Missouri offense and held them to 0 yards in the first quarter. After a resurgent effort by the Tigers in the final minutes of the game, the KSU defense proved to be too much to handle as they went down 24-17.

Going into the game against Texas Tech (4-1, 1-1 in big 12), #17 in the AP Poll, Kansas State (5-0, 2-0 big 12) knows that they are going to face yet again a powerful offensive attack. Texas Tech Quarterback Seth Doege is fast becoming one of the most prolific passers in College Football. He has amassed 1,315 yards through the air this year as well as 14 touchdowns to 1 interception. As if he's not enough to deal with, Running Back Eric Stephens is a tough runner who has a nose for the endzone, he has 468 yards through the ground and already 7 touchdown. He is also averaging near 5 yards per carry. To round out the offense of Texas Tech, Doege has to very competent young wide recievers in Alex Torres and Eric Ward, each with upwards of 15 receptions this season.

This season though, the Wildcats have came up against very powerful, efficiently run offenses and each time has shut them down. Voelker is turning into a sack machine, and Arthur Brown can not be stopped by anybody. David Garrett should be a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award by the end of the season. His lack of interceptions just goes to show the respect quarterbacks have for him as they never throw his direction. Nigel Malone is becoming an outstanding playmaker as well, a true ball hawk and natural instinct in finding the ball on every single play. The KSU Defense has bent but not broken once this year, always stopping the opposing team exactly when it needs to. The speed and quickness of our entire defensive unit is a nightmare for any team we go up against, and frustrates just about every offensive player wh goes against them.

Offensively, our running game is truly one of the most exciting to watch every Saturday. The mixture of Hubert, the emerging Pease, and running game of Collin Klein gives us so many options that each defense we play against has no idea who to tackle. They have to go after 3 players on every play, and its a confusing and exhausting thing for the opposing defenses to go through. Braden Wilson is one of the top fullbacks in the nation and when he leads the way for you, your almost guranteed 3 to 5 yards each play. Chris Harper is quickly becoming the go to guy in the passing game, and Brodrick Smith is a very good deep threat. It seems no matter where we turn, we have someone who can make a play for the Kansas State Wildcats.

The game is at Texas Tech,  which may pose some problems for our Wildcats. Then again, problems don't really seem to matter to KSU this year.

PREDICTION

Kansas State wins in a tough game at Texas Tech, 28-17. The offense breaks away in the fourth quarter to make the lead bigger then the game really is.

Total Defense overall: KSU - 15th     Mizzou - 43rd

OVERVIEW AND PREDICTION

Kansas State is coming off another huge win over Baylor, thanks largely in part to the Defense making another great stand in the 4th quarter. Arthur Brown led the way, intercepting Robert Griffin III for the first time this season, which led to the Anthony Cantele go ahead field goal. Up 36-35, Brown proceeded to make a key sack on Griffin to pretty much seal the victory for the Cats. Klein had a good game overall, his highlight of the day being breaking free for a long 63 yard run in the 3rd quarter.

Going into the game against Missouri, its looking bleak to those outsiders who are just now noticing the Cats. They look at the game and think that Missouri has such a high powered offense and that they hung in there, for the most part, with then #1 Oklahoma, putting up 28 points and only losing by 10. Missouri (2-2) has some talented key players, including quarterback James Franklin, who like Klein is a dual threat. Franklin has amassed 985 yards through the air and 7 touchdowns to 1 interception, as well as 260 yards on the ground and 2 touchdowns. To compliment Franklin, Mizzou also has a talented former 3rd string running back named Henry Josey who ranks 5th nationally with an average of 133.3 yards per game. The Missouri Tigers are coming off of a bye week, so expect their offense to be well rested, and their stout Rush defense to be ready to slow down Klein and Hubert.

Kansas State (4-0, 1-0 in conference) looks to continue their winning ways, and Klein might have to throw the ball a little more in this game. With a lackluster pass defense, its time for Chris Harper and Brodrick Smith to shine, as long as Klein can get them the ball. I also like the use of fullback Braden Wilson as a check down reciever. If we can run some playactions to Hubert and have Wilson release to the flats, the over-pursuit of the missouri defense might yield us some yardage that way. Its something we havn't done much of so far this season, so they shouldn't be expecting it. Plus, who would want to get in front of him after he catches and starts running.....nobody with any sense. Klein is a mobile quarterback and i'm sure he will break off some large gains on the ground as well, but i'm a little bit worried that Missouri's defense, after a week off to rest, might be geared up to shut down our potent running attack. Again, I'm going to put emphasis on the passing game, we are gonna have to get it going. Missouri may be 2-2, but they aren't someone to overlook as they have very talented players on the field at all times.

Defensively, well, us true fans already know whats going on with our Defense. We know Arthur is going to harrass that young quarterback, and David Garret (as i predicted last week, almost every pass Griffin threw went to the opposite side of the field of Garrett) is going to shut down one reciever entirely. Voelker earned 1 sack last week, and i'm almost positive he will continue his streak to 5 consecutive games with a sack this week. Our defense is great, and It stopped a much better offense then Missouri's last week against Baylor, and i'm almost positive we will stop Missouri.

As for Missouri's defense, other then their rush defense i see alot of gaps and problems. Kansas State tends to score when we need to, and I'm sure that we can outscore Missouri this weekend.

35-28 Kansas State behind another strong 4th quarter defensive showing.

thats ok, they wont run that much at all on our Defense.
