2002 because it was the first great season I was in Manhattan for. USC game, Nebraska game, Iowa St game, @Mizzou, @KU, Holiday Bowl were all incredibly fun days to be a cat fan in the stadium partying.

Another great team. Not super sexy because Ell was still coming into his own as a passer, which led to us running the ball like 60+ times per game. But that  :lynchmob: was sick... And Darren

2000 doesn't get its due as far as a fun season goes. We came up short against OU both times, but man they were intense epic Big 12 games vs a team that won the national title. We ended up destroying Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl so we can forever tell ourselves we would of beat them 2 years earlier as well.

Also that first game against OU vs the old regime at BSFS was one of the best atmospheres ever. Also last time we had a home College Gameday i believe.

Truth. The 2000 team was a slightly watered-down version of 1998. The collective offensive personnel might have actually been better (Quincy, Cartwright, Scobey, Meier, Aaron Lockett were all draft picks). Oh yeah, and David Allen. Sucks that he was never able to overcome that injury. I might be romanticizing this somewhat because that was the first season I started consistently attending games. Missed both OU tilts though. The most EMAW sequence in history happened in the 4th quarter of the game in Manhattan. Quincy Morgan touchdown, OU goes three-and-out, Terence Newman returns blocked punt for touchdown, Jon McGraw intercepts HB pass on OU's next possession. That happened in roughly 4 minutes of game time. Damn I miss the old Big 12

The last few years, I have not noticed much of a drop off when Baylor throws in a backup QB.  Their system is about as friendly as it could be to plug and play.  Plus it's at home for Baylor.  Maybe the TCU game was the beginning of a trend, but I just don't buy it.

I know _FAN touched on it, but their passing game hasn't been nearly as explosive this season. Our last three games with Baylor have all followed the same script. We do everything in our power to negate their running game and have been reasonably effective in doing so (Baylor's averaged 129.6 ypg; 3.6 ypc). We try to QB run game the eff out of them (Sams and Jake combined for 40 carries in '13; Jake had 20 in '14; Hubes with 29 last year). We get burnt over the top on a few big plays but the defense largely keeps us in the game. I would expect this to follow a similar script. Zach Smith is going to look like a watered down Mason Rudolph. Not going to run a whole lot. He'll probably hit on enough deep balls to get them to ~30 points. If we win, it's going to be because our OL took another big step forward, a couple guys top 100 yards, and we TOP the eff out of them. :fingerscrossed:

the most important thing about this game is, if we win, ku will be for bill's 200th win. he will try to score 100 on them.
I would love this as much as any KState fan has ever loved anything about KState football. :billdance:
Very 'tuckish of me but I'll be there with ya.

Currie better go the whole damn nine on this one. I want the platform and podium. Snyds announces retirement. We then get a video with a litany of coaches congratulating him like they did in '05. The last coach on the reel is Venzy. He leaves us with a cryptic "See you soon, K-State fans"

I didn't really hear much Stanbot analysis of the Cats.  was basically 5 minutes of radio about OU, WVU, OSU.  I think he threw in that it would be a good idea to pressure the QB and, since we're at home, might win by a point.

Nothing quite like St John and Bukaty hitting Stan with pointed questions about the upcoming match-up... or frantically scrambling to get to the team's ESPN page pulled up so they can reel off a couple of scores to complement their crap questions

- The Central Michigan game altered a lot of pundits' perception of Oklahoma State. The last few weeks have been vindication for those with high FBIQ. Oklahoma State is legitimately in the race for the Big 12 title, but this is a big "prove it" game for a team that really isn't road tested.

- True freshman RB Justice Hill has provided a big boost in the running game. He's gone for 100+ in three of five Big 12 games. Lack of balance has been the biggest thing holding Oklahoma State back in recent seasons.

- St John asks Stan if the (Dallas) Cowboys should continue to roll with Dak or go back to Romo. This was probably the second longest response that Stan gave. Don't remember anything because the NFL is for poors

- Home team has had the upper hand in recent years (winner of the last five games). Oklahoma State has only beaten K-State in Manhattan once since Snyder was coach. Cats find a way in another tight game

Common denominator in all of Oklahoma State's conference wins has been the opponent coughing the ball up at very inopportune times. They got three turnovers inside WVU's 10 last weekend (turned those into 17 points). Same thing against KU. Got 17 points on drives that covered 26 yards or fewer. Take care of the ball and we should be fine. I think winters said it earlier. Very similar to the Tech game. Probably fewer points. Somewhere in the 31-27 type range if I had to guess.

34
If the Tigers played the Jayhawks this year, who wins?

I'd probably lean toward MU. They have more depth and seem to be less volatile. Turnovers have killed KU this season. They'd have two more wins if they had taken care of the ball against Ohio and TCU.

If they played it this year at Arrowhead, I imagine it would be a similar draw as our games against the tornado birds. I think we were around 40K in 09 and 10? I went to every border war game in KC sans the one KU stole in 2008. The games played after Mangino left were wooftown.

Ertz has been playing well. If he would never throw more than 20 yards I'd be happy though.

Second. The Alex Smith passing package seems to be doing fine

36
I remember watching the highlight tape as a kid and seeing that big completion to get us deep into Colorado territory. Always wondered what happened after that play. Got it to 3rd and 3 from their 18. QB draw for no gain lol

Guys, can we please not get off track?  I want to hear more about this western ks high school football!

Not totally relevant, but a while back an angry 'tater called into the postgame show to tell Walters that the program was slipping because we didn't have enough kids from western Kansas. Those kids "built" the program. Angry 'tater was from Dighton.

Carry on

38
2009 - Lamur blocked PAT (their kicker had never missed one prior to that play)
2010 - Brandon Harold got a late sack/fumble recovery to help us seal the deal
2011 - Hubert's beast mode touchdown to put us up late in the 4th quarter... Rhoads goes to ISU 5-heart Jeff Woody on 4th and 2 with the game on the line. Loses three yards and fumbles
2012 - Slow cooked them... Should have been more decisive than 27-21
2013 - Asswhooping... Would have shut them out 41-0 had Robert Rose not fumbled inside our 10 with a few minutes left
2014 - Clones blow 28-13 lead. Lots of bizarre plays including Lockett's catch as he hit the pylon, Randall Evans rolling interception that got upheld, Waters getting murdered on a 2pt try, Danzel blitzing at the end of the game when he was not supposed to (what a shocker, it worked)... Also Rhoads just ditched his headset early in the 1st half and pretty much turned the team over to Mangino lol

Independence Bowl vs Notre Dame

 :excited: :ksu: :excited:

The KSTATEOgasm that would ensue if we beat this (horrible) Notre Dame team would be very entertaining. We made commemorative shirts after our win over that crap Michigan team in the BWW bowl (not satisfied with the standard "bowl champion" shirts). I can only imagine what would happen with this one.

Not really excited for this weekend. Feel like it's a blowout waiting to happen.. ):

Redemption spot for the defense. I'm sure they haven't forgotten what Baker did to us last season. OU hasn't taken great care of the ball. Don't know if we'll have enough offense to get it done but I think we'll be competitive. Another unconventional score (or two) would be  Also, Snyds loves 11 am roadies

he sits next to Dana with his arms crossed.

He's got a headset... Just not plugged into anything (A-Plus source)

could I get a gif of Dimel throwing his headset in the pressbox with the subsequent f bomb?

14:13 mark in the second quarter. TIA.

Saw that when I watched a replay of the game. I've been pretty vocal about my disdain for Dimel but his reaction leads me to believe Jesse checked into that one. Regardless of who made the check, why the eff are we throwing a corner route to the shortest guy on the field on 3rd and 2 from the opponent's 3? Figure it the hell out.

Legitimacy test for WVU. They've been fortunate to steal wins against BYU (INT at the goal line) and K-State (missed FG). First true road game. Mahomes didn't really seem to be slowed down by the injury. Most explosive offense WVU has seen to this point is BYU, and they tore them up for well over 500 yards. Tech will put up points and get just enough stops to win a tight one at home. Seems like the kind of game Dana and Co should win but don't.

As far as our game... I just can't stop thinking about 55-0 from last season. OU's defense clearly has more holes, but this will easily be the most talented team we've seen. Trying to find your offensive footing in Norman isn't exactly ideal. Thinking something in the neighborhood of Sooners 31-14. We'll see. Might feel better by week's end.

Tech is really bad.

they score a crap ton of points

Against scoring defenses ranked 80th (LaTech), 104th (Kansas) and 107th (Arizona State). Tech gonna Tech. I would hope that we would hold them down, especially if Mahomes doesn't go.

Other than penalties, I don't know how we could have played any better.

Reminded me of elite teams in the 90s/early 00s. Those guys gave zero effs. We were usually one of the most penalized teams in country. Didn't matter because we were so much better than the guys on the other sideline.

I was excited to see less D. Burton in the game.

I guess that's why he tied Heath for the most receptions  :dunno:

Bet we call a timeout on our first offensive possession

O/U on number of plays run before calling first timeout: 2.5
