I think I love Frank even more after reading that.

Can anyone imagine Oscar ever admitting that?

I tend to agree with this.  Plus, I'm not that sure that Currie was concerned with us actually "winning" as long as we remained in the meaty part of the bell curve.

You guys apparently haven't watched Currie much. All he cares about is compliance. He wants to be the BEST compliance AD in history. He does not give a rip if the teams win.

I can confirm.

#1 priority - don't even have a whiff of impropriety around a program.

Don't look for anything before Tuesday. Women are hosting first two rounds of tournament and I doubt anyone wants to do anything to distract from that.

Apparently Meyers and Veatch were at game and are flying back to MHK tonight for women's game. I would love to hear that conversation.

These guys need to stop leaving ESPN for a short term pay raise at the expense of their long term careers.
Industry rumors are that massive lay-offs are coming to ESPN. They've lost more than 10M subscribers in the last few years and are bleeding money right now.

It may have actually been a good time to get away.

Also I am ready for Gus and Gott on college basketball.

Nobody seemed interested in shooting on our team. They really like passing the ball back and forth between the half court line and top of the key, though.
Wade looked scared most of the second half. He had no desire to shoot the ball.

I miss Ben. He was KU Karl before we even knew KU Karl.

I also miss Ben's girlfriend.  Did he ever make an honest woman out of her? Was she KU Karla before we even knew KU Karla?

yeah, kliff was a no brainer hire for him. it would've been like currie hiring brad last year. nobody in either situation would've been calling either a bad hire at the time.

That's fair, I wasn't talking necessarily about the hire, but not firing him yet.

yeah. that's the probable potential downfall of hiring the beloved school graduate. makes it harder to fire them.

also and I can't remember if this is public knowledge or not (probably is), but currie is a FIRM believer in never ever ever hiring a graduate of the school to be the coach because statistics show it doesn't work out at a higher percentage then if the person is not a school graduate. same for promoting within. nobody on the current fball staff was going to get the job when Snyder retired and brad was never going to be coach.

No, I don't remember hearing that. Interesting.
I wonder what his presentation said about hiring coaches who succeed when they inherit good situations, but eventually fail when left to do all of the heavy lifting themselves.

Kietzman said today "he would not be surprised" if weber was offered a job by another school.  People he was using similar out of the usual type statements just before Curdog left fleas and all.  Another article Fran Frasilla said oscar is a good coach.  He might be valued by someone else.

This would be wonderful. I'll help oscar pack.
Anyone up for an Oscar Pack Pak?

The quote with full context is here.
Wow, it might be worse with full context

Is the investigation of the rape of a minor in a building occupied almost exclusively by men's basketball players (it was after finals were over I believe, so who else would be there?), classified as crap or a distraction by Bill?

Either way, he's really proud of how well they've been focusing on basketball during this tough time.

As pissed as I've been at some of the rough ridin'stupid things Oscar has said during his time in MHK, I'm proud that he's never stooped to this level.

And people want to draft that Aggy above him. Smh.
ESPN is actually scrolling Myles' results across the bottom.

They do love hyping the SEC.

I am also a former IAC student rep. I was proud to serve as a rubber stamp during the tumultuous tenure of Milt Richards.

Best part, I got to fly on the team plane to the NIT game at Notre Dame.

Team plane NIT trip would have been fun.  We WOULD say that Milt Richards is the biggest WTF is a series of AD's dating back to Steve Miller, but Bob Krause.
The trip was highlighted by Asst. AD Chris Peterson getting ejected from the building for following officials into the tunnel at halftime and yelling at them.

Speaking of Chris Peterson.

Not surprising. The dude was/is an a-hole. I remember earlier in the day at ND, a bunch of us went into the football stadium and got down on the field. Peterson referred to it as "a dump."

Kansas State Football / Re: John Currie - Next Tennessee AD?
« on: March 04, 2017, 07:26:07 AM »

*" One reason Fulmer pushed for the AD job is he didn’t want Currie to get it."
Fulmer has one of the biggest egos in Knoxville. Part of that may be true, but he mainly wanted his name in lights again. He is not happy.

Are you really going to talk crap on fulmer? The man who won TN their only national championship* since Truman was president?

*K-State would of smoked TN in 98
It's the truth about his ego. In the time period from the 2001 SEC champ game loss to LSU through his firing in 2008, he used up a lot of political capital. There are a lot of people (prob majority) who wouldn't say a cross word about him, but there are quite a few who feel like his stubbornness in those later years was unnecessary and selfish.
I can also confirm. A friend's dad is a past president of the UT alumni association (during Fulmer's hey-day).Phil has worn out his welcome with the current generation of leadership around the university.

what was the second best part CM?  who sucked the most on that IAC?  biggest stud?
Second best is more notable than anything. My signature is on the paperwork approving the purchase of the original Wagner Field turf (first with Powercat logo).   Not to over-state my participation, there are several signatures, I think a majority of IAC had to sign and I happened to be available.
