Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Re: Texas thread
« on: February 13, 2019, 03:43:17 PM »
I was at the game last night, and to be honest, i didn't even notice MM until almost halftime.  It sounds like he was a staple of the tv coverage though which doesn't surprise me, but it didn't appear to me that he was distracting at all.

As for the arena, it's a done deal that is going to happen because the medical school is expanding onto the land where the Erwin Center is located.  The new arena will be by the football stadium in order to share parking.  And it cannot come soon enough.  That is a really bad arena (not Baylor bad, but bad) made worse by poor attendance and a complete lack of enthusiasm amongst the fans.

I was actually thinking it was of Sarajevo cross-posted from one of those "See what happened to these former Olympic venues.  Number 4 is shocking!"  things.
It's hard to tell the difference.

I love that they took the time to point out he was retired from the US Nave Band. Not sure why that's what I took from the story.

When you are broke dick you don't really get to negotiate terms. You have to take what's on the table or fail. KU has descended into Speedy Cash borrower territory.

I'm pretty sure the entire athletic department is insured by The General.

I'm sorry, but I'm LOL'ing at this.

The are building this thing on their campus, right?  I get the whole placement thing relative to their beloved hill and the greatest setting in the history of sport venues.   But where it appears they're going to build it is squarely on their campus, back behind their stadium, and yet they're getting input from the community?  Bringing in Ma Blue Hair, the "why do we need that" townies, and the get off my lawners?   Funny

Probs going to make it available for Saturday pop warner games or some crap so they can get some tax payer money to pay for it?

Only 16 community members showed up. Not sure they care if their input is heard.

Didn't Snyder, back in the day, have two co-coordinators suggest a play and he'd pick the winner?

I'm assuming Coleman will now be the decision maker w/ the other two making suggestions. Snyder probably opts out unless super critical moment in game.

My understanding is that Miller used to call 1st/2nd down and Dimel called 3rd down. This led to a lot of personnel confusion, wasted timeouts and delay of game penalties. It was Coleman who called out the ridiculousness of this system to Snyder and convinced him to change.

UCLA has had a lot on their minds with coaching change and wildfires.

Wow! Of course I knew about the the wildfires, but I must have missed the coaching change discussion during the game.

The clones really pulled out all the stops for the '93 Farmageddon.

Quote
JJ Smith, former K-State running back:  Iowa State beating us was a total fluke. We were in control of the game until a streaker ran across the field butt naked. It took security forever to get rid of him. We all thought it was hilarious, but we lost our focus and it turned the game around.

I was there and that moment changed the game. Also, it was one of the coldest games I have ever been to.

The Fightin' Ichabods in Topeka had their Board of Regents approve the building of an indoor facility this past week.  It will be used by multiple sports, including football.  Not bad for Division II.  Listening to a radio interview with their A.D., it should open in about 18 months if their schedule holds.

If I'm reading the CJ article correctly, WU will probably get a new indoor facility before KU and PSU and FHSU already do. I never really grasped that KU may be the fifth best football program in the state.

In my minds eye, that guy is the living model of every dude who used to call in to the McElroy Scoreboard show.
Can you blame a man for wanting to know the final of the Benedictine-Mid-America Nazarene game?

Maybe KU should try the UAB formula and shut down the program for a few years and hit the reset button.

If you read the press statement it also includes the baseball stadium, Allen fieldhouse, and a couple of buildings on campus .it's not all for just the football stadium

There was no way they are going to raise that much money and not have Massa Self get a little taste.

Listening on the radio during drive to Pitt

After a batted down pass
"That's a rejection Bill Self would be proud of"

"KU down but trying to chip away at the Chippewas "

KU QB trips and goes down and it was referred to as "self tacklization (sp?)"

This new clown may be worse than Bob.

I think I am most looking forward to insane levels of ku delusion during this process. Considering it should take years (potentially decades) to pull this off, I'm in for a lot of joy. Actually, when you consider my age, diet, drinking and lack of physical activity, I may not live to see it.

they're customizable

If you think they're springing for the whole plastic mesh urinal cake at The Pillbox On The Hill, you're crazy. Maybe at AFH, but Memorial's trough urinals get the old school cake and nothing more.

I have fond memories of late night frisbee games beneath the lights of the quad.
Maybe it was because I didn't live in Haymaker for four years that I don't have these memories.

1. Band nerd (I could probably stop here)
2. I've never really considered the K-State campus to have a quad in the classic sense so I'm not sure what part of campus he's talking about.
3. Is he Kenn's son?

Dude, 2, I mean, come on man.
OK, I give in. But I will say that I have never once referred to any part of the K-State campus as "The Quad."

Then again, I was there years ago.  Apparently things change.
