Kansas State Basketball is hard / Re: Cats vs Johnnies
« on: December 07, 2024, 01:29:53 PM »
Everyone who is decent is going to kill us. We’re in for a Wooly-type conference record.
i expect a season very similar to oscar's last in 21-22 that was 14-17 (6-12).  Honestly, i don't know what I would do if i am Tang, the old school way would be to bench Hawkins, Jones, etc and go young but not sure build for next year works in the age of NIL

this thing may get completely off rails with games vs an undefeated Drake in KC followed by a trip to Wichita vs an 8-1 Shocker team in front of the football first, casual hoops fans.

luckily those are this team's biggest strengths

Swaim may have become a punchline due to realiagnment but i will choose to appreciate him as one of the few sources on KSU basketball recruiting in the early days of the internet

also we let Sproles learn to field punts his sr year.  it sucked to watch as a fan at the time but was proved to be the right call in the long run.

Darren went on to record the 6th most all purpose yards in the history of the NFL and the punts he dropped and misplayed in 04 did not really matter because the Defense was a disaster.

honestly OP should figure a way to give Corporate Woods to the Royals if they are coming to the burbs.  Shannon Valley Estates could become Wrigleyville Kauffyville

great trip down memory lane.  I probably should cross post this in the getting old thread but the contrast between the the cats in our classic uniforms vs the hawks attempts of all possible combinations of red, blue, black, white and gray is emblematic to me.

I just don't know guys.  When will the stars ever align like this again?  Klieman is blowing an amazing opportunity this year.

How are the stars aligned in a unique way this year? And I still think we'll play for the Dr Pepper
I don't think we'll be able to accrue or hold onto this much talent on a regular basis.
not sure there is enough talent on defense for me to consider this a "stars aligning" like 11-12.  2012 was it imo

nope but Salvy is the kind of guy that spends his off day playing wiffleball with kids and in the evening is chilling in the bleachers at Blackbob Park watching his boys from Venezuela (who we split with) play beer league softball.  And he does it all with the redolence of success & excellence, there are multiple texts in the team text thread about how great he smelled.

The worst place in the conference is by far Manhattan, Kan. There is absolutely nothing to do in that town and the drive is absolutely awful.

:shakesfist:
To be fair, if you don’t drink, have sex, or use caffeine drugs, Manhattan is probably boring.
confirmed
"When Utah travels to Lawrence, Kan., in a couple of years, there’s this fantastic pizza joint called Papa Kenos Pizzeria. It has some of the best cheese pizza I’ve had in Big 12 country."-the same dumbass

Primaries are what has driven both sides so far to the fringes.  If smoky backrooms get us more moderate, I might be willing to listen.

Only one party has moved away from the middle and that party has only made that move post 2016. The Republican party and their policy positions were nothing like this, particularly socially, when Dubya was in office. He wasn't calling for mass deportation, wasn't actively looking to overturn Roe, not looking to overturn no fault divorce. They didn't propose elimination the department of education, epa, irs, and other cabinets, departments, and agencies. I could go on an on without even mentioning further movement to the extreme by project 2025.

Since Clinton/Bush/Obama have the dems moved left on anything other than gay rights?
you are correct that the GOP at the top was not extremist until Trump but at sizeable portion of the local party in KS has been crazy for decades.
