Interesting quote i got from a clemson scout message board. i was curious to see what the schools in the ACC with Florida state looking to head out are saying and what they are hearing.
"My source, who is a BOT member of a school who shall not be named, told my group that 3 schools are aligned against allowing Clemson or FSU into the SEC. And that Slive prefers unanimous votes.
Because of this, a couple of things:
1) SEC is looking at new TV market territory as a priority.
2) SEC will be content with 14 teams for a while.
Some people are wondering what a 14 team conference will do, especially in football. B/c of lack of games, the feeling is that over time, the two divisions will basically act like their own conferences. The hope is that, 7 team divisions is enough b/c you will play the other division twice. But if you go to two 8-team divisions, is there a long-term issue of keeping the universities together.
SEC is also looking at playing 9 conference games. But USC, UGA, UK, and UF are concerned b/c it takes away a potential home game away due to their in-state, non-conference rivalries. It also eliminates USC/UGA/UF/UK from playing anyone outside of small school due to the conference and their in-state rivalry if they go to 9 conference games."
