Essentially Flyertalk / Re: Let's talk current style

That just looks like khakis that have been tight rolled.

Here's what I am talking about...

what i posted are khakis with elastic cuffs. what you posted just look like sweat pants, and i dig 'em.

in any event, khakis with elastic cuffs exist, and they look really effing stupid.

however, they would have saved me a lot of time french rolling my pants in the 80's.

i was actually amazed at all of the calls wisconsin was getting in the first half. they had, what, 2 team files deep, deep into the 1st half? then it seemed to even out in the second half.

but what do i know, i'm just an IBiot. :frown:

I just noticed that Rutgers beat Wisconsin this year.

It was Rutgers' final win of the season.

On January 7th.

kaminsky was out. still a shitty loss, but somewhat understandable. road games, etc.

7
oscar is working in more mysterious ways than ever. last time he beat two top 15 teams at home must've been 2004-2005 (if ever, back-to-back). illini fans have told you all ad nauseam 1 or 2 times a year that he beats teams he isn't supposed to beat, but again, 2 top 15 teams back-to-back? this is almost as strange as recruiting foster out of nowhere after coaching/recruiting in the same state as chicago for 9 years.

still, happy for you guys.

You will realize it's blue when you look at the black and white fabric in bottom left hand corner.

holy crap! i looked at that fabric and when i looked back at the dress it was blue/black! :runaway:

Essentially Flyertalk / Re: Chili with cinnamon rolls
« on: February 13, 2015, 02:08:59 PM »
no dipping, you eat a delicious bowl of chili (with beans) accompanied by saltine crackers then enjoy the cinnamon roll for dessert.

I loved it but will admit the trash can in my elementary school caff was a rather remarkable sight at the end of chilli w/cinnamon roll day.

Confirmed dipper here.

huh. all this going on just 2 states away.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Re: Risky Hiring
« on: February 13, 2015, 01:35:04 PM »
Pretty sure we already had this thread.

Maybe Eddie Sutton @ OSU (after KSU passed on him)

I'm sure there have got to be other examples. Probably there are several coaches who were "pressured out" rather than fired, like Tubby at UK or Dana Altman at KSU (though Altman doesn't fit the mold of this question, because he went to Creighton next).

If you are sure about others, give em up.  I'll even take "pressured out" ones.   Sutton is probably a gray area (more likely was pressured to resign due to the scandal), but I will include him on the list.

So far:
Sutton from UK to hapless and moribund OSU (clearly OSU is on a lower level than UK, and they were struggling pretty bad so it was worth a risk to hire the hometown guy)
Smith from UK to hapless and moribund Minnesota (clearly Minnesota is on a lower level than UK)
Weber from UIUC to recently revitalized KSU which was actually more successful than UIUC over the past few years.
Smith from Minnesota to hapless and moribund Texas Tech

Wow hiring a coach who has just been fired for being a bad basketball coach looks like a great sign of a program's health!

steve alford was about to get canned by iowa, i believe, before he went to new mexico or new mexico state or whatever. that actually worked out well. for him, at least.

but, yeah, if you're asking if it was weird to hire weber. . . well, yeah.

go to matchbox.

Mrs. wELLsculpted brows used to sling drinks at the Silver Palm and occasionally Match Box.

ps  if she remembers how to make those perfect manhattans, or whatever they're called, replete with brandy(?)- soaked cherries, you are a very lucky man, indeed.

Mrs. wELLsculpted brows used to sling drinks at the Silver Palm and occasionally Match Box.

Headed up this weekend, and thinking about taking one day to go check out the northern suburbs (Mrs. wELLsculptedbrows is also a huge Home Alone fan and has never been by the McCallister house). Anybody have any Winnetka/Wilmette/Evanston recommendos? Anyone been to the Block Museum at Northwestern? Baha'i House of Worship?

baha'i house of worship is amazing, though don't know if i've ever been there in the winter. should be warm-ish this weekend, though. if you have a car, drive up sheridan ave. very ravine-y and small hill-y. not the usual chicago topography.

there's a great jewish deli over the edens at waukegan road called max n' benny's; otherwise, can't think of a reason to go to the north shore in winter. evanston excepted-- it's an honorary chicago neighborhood and usually great (maybe a n'western campus tour)?

oh, new brewery in evanston called temperance. eh, it's ok. new distillery in evanston called few. it's really good. lots of good new resto's in evanston, too.

Anybody ever had DuClaw's "Sweet Baby Jesus Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter"? I'm thinking about stopping by for a tasting, but I don't want to be disappointed by a 'trying too hard' name.

Gonna win 'em all!

just googled that brewery and they seem very Xtreme.

RPM -
SIP -
old town ale house -
Purple pig -  (much different than their Manhattan flagship)
BottleFork -
River Roast -  :Yuck:

hard to believe bill rough ridin' rancic's resto is better than tony mantuano's (spiaggia) river roast, but i can't argue with some of your other reviews (and i haven't tried river roast yet).

old town ale house is a real hoot, as they say. think about all the second city guys and gals that drank there.

anyway, hope you had a good time here.

go to dusek's. (new-ish)

go to matchbox. (old but great cocktails and near chicago blue line 'L')

are Iowa fans just as bad or worse than ISU fans?  Ferentz has been there a million years and makes a ton of money and hasn't won crap.

don't be an idiot. he is 115–84 (.578) at iowa. what the hell are you supposed to win at iowa?
