I turned down a few free tickets. The sprint center isn't that great and I have better things to do on a saturday afternoon than wade through the douchebags at the p&l to see a half-assed game in a crappy corporate arena. If someone offers me tickets within 10 rows of the court I might re-consider though.

I'm five minutes away so I was there, but no way in hell am I driving two hours each way with work in the morning to watch Frank work his favorite strategy; playing the "go 12-deep on the bench within the first five minutes of game-time while asserting dominance by picking random starter to sit the games entirety for fun wacky reasons like eye hernia's, "lessons", or just because of some dream I had. Iowa State has nearly 4000 more students than K-State, Ames is right down the road from Des Moines, Iowa has 200,000 more residents than Kansas. Why would Iowa State possibly averaging a few more in attendance than K-State be the least bit surprising?? K-State is completely sold out for the season. This is not hard.

First, using average number of fans is not an equal metric for comparing attendance (and ditto to the points Dax made)...now, stats nerd point is out of the way....it is easy to understand why Hilton gets good attendance. Anyone who has been to Ames knows what I'm talking about.

had a season ticket holding friend of mine make the drive from KC for the Alcorn St game. JHR's power monster dunk in the last few minutes made it all worth it

Why is that so hard to understand?? Hilton is a larger arena, why couldn't Iowa State potentially average more per game than K-State? ku is currently giving away 1000's of tickets for free to the game in the Sprint Cener. ku was scrambling to find people to buy tickets to other games this season. ku issued groupons for home football games.
