Someone tweeted to me something, I thought he was wrong and checked. He was right. Devon Peterson joined the basketball team today as a walk-on. Wow. They just got more athletic.

Huge. I suppose he has residency now, so it makes sense. Should have enough grant money to pay for school and dorms. Really helps bolster our weakest area...assuming he's in playing shape.

Yeah. This happens all the time. I just requires silly things like changing your permenant address and getting an in-state DL.

An old GF of mine had to research the hell out of this as she was an out of state and attempted to change her status before attending law school. Her dad (a judge) was unable to find a legal way for this to happen. I mean, I can snoke rock on the street corner if I wanted to, it just requires a few silly steps...

Looking at ours and ku's roster, I assumed the total limit was 16. If there's no limit, is there no correlation between Kruger and 95? It wouldn't be that Frank doesn't want non-travelers in the program becasue we'll still be one over. :dunno:

We're an Elite Eight team and a preseason top-3, and our coach is a media darling. We should have a top-25 recruiting class, if not this year then next year, but we don't. Our recruiting is sub-par. The training facility and its ability to attract recruits should help keep us from sucking in 2 years, but we need to do better right now.

pretty sure he was higher than a 2 star outta high school. He was a two star outta juco, because of eligibility issues im guessing.

K-State announced Wednesday that Peterson has joined the team as a walk-on. Peterson, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., will be eligible to compete this season as a junior.

"He's a hard-nosed kid," coach Frank Martin said. "The same path he's taken to get here echoes the kind of player he is. He's a grinder."

Peterson was a decorated high school player at Lincoln, the same school that produced Sebastian Telfair and Lance Stephenson. He began his college career at Broward College in Florida, where he averaged 16 points and earned all-conference honors as a freshman.

Peterson committed to K-State as a scholarship player two years ago, but eligibility problems delayed his enrollment.

"To his credit, he's continued to pursue it," Martin said. "He's remained loyal to us. He could have gone on scholarship and played somewhere else, but he remained committed and loyal to us."

Peterson is a scoring guard who should be in the mix to earn minutes in the backcourt opposite Jacob Pullen.

"Tough New York guard," Samuels summarized. "Tough New York guard that will help us out a lot."

In conjunction with Peterson's arrival, K-State announced that Topekan Jarrod Kruger is no longer with the program. Kruger, the nephew of former Wildcat and current UNLV coach Lon Kruger, walked on at K-State after earning second-team all-city honors as a senior at Topeka West.
