Someone tweeted to me something, I thought he was wrong and checked. He was right. Devon Peterson joined the basketball team today as a walk-on. Wow. They just got more athletic.
Just when I thought all hope was gone.
Well eff me running. Hate to start it up but someone will anyway: When will he be eligible to play? Will he even help us much?
if fitz has pattersoned peterson, i'll personally blow up tubbys and all his little incestuous stepseeds.
tenatively :ksu:
I think I'd give up Peterson to see this happen.
I wonder WTF he's been doing this whole time? Hopefully he's in decent shape. Also, what kind of eligibilty can he even have remaining at this point?

i'll be counting on you to choke out rcpd as i make my get away.
OMG! this is huge! I don't know about anyone else but I believe he is the missing link in this team! ;) :crossfingers:   :bwpopcorn: :driving:  :cheers:Shut up.
I suppose he has residency now.

Our walk-ons could beat most team's starting five.
Our walk-ons could beat most team's starting five.
reed - the dominant presence inside every elite walkon squad needs.
ojeleye - mini-colon, no talent but brutally punishes the other team!
lawrence - the perfect point foward/slasher guy that can't shoot. when he's not fat, he's unstoppable
peterson - 95, bitches.
kruger - nephew of a great player, so you know he's good. also is funny.
#5 - sixth man with great endurance. likes basketball, but loves to run.

Pretty sure you can't gain residency while enrolled. Otherwise, people would only have to pay out-of-state tuition for one year.

I'll bet we could get IchabodCat to arrange a "Welcome Home Krugs" party at Bullfrogs. I know some people in Topeka who are very, very connected in the WU athletic department, so we cold probably get IchaStan to show up.

Are there limits on the number of walkons?
Are there limits on the number of walkons?
no. limit of 15 players for travel, but you can have as many as you want in the program.

Looking at ours and ku's roster, I assumed the total limit was 16. If there's no limit, is there no correlation between Kruger and 95? It wouldn't be that Frank doesn't want non-travelers in the program becasue we'll still be one over. :dunno:

i wouldn't think there's any connection. maybe kruger was told he wouldn't be likely to travel and got offended and quit. but i doubt it.
we've had a walkon quit each of the last couple years, no? the one guy from atchison or somewhere up there, and the topekan. it's a lot of work for not a lot of reward.

Perhaps Jarrod thinks his time could be better spent elsewhere. If so, it's an extremely mature decision for some one his age.

Wait, does this mean that Jarrod will be able to pursue other opportunities that he had originally planned on pursuing?! :surprised:

just glanced over the gopo thread about this for the second time. rough ridin' amazing. comparisons of dpete to william powell, discussions of our bench beating the rest of the big 12 just like the good old days in the big 8, etc. world class :powerespect:
Makes me want to spend the $100 or whatever to join GPC and get all of the super secret info.
I feel like a terrible EMAW right now, but I am not 100% familiar with Devon's story. I know he committed in 2008 for the 2009 class. "Things didn't work out", yada yada. Does anyone have the details? I'd love to know exactly how this guy went from NY to FL to KS.

Looks like we have some dude coming in 2011 who's a 95 also...Gipson? (I refuse to visit those too-long recruiting threads above.)

But our recruiting is sub par and our team will totally suck in 2 years!!!!

You think a top 5 team whose recruiting gem barely cracked the top 100 is recruiting on par?

espn gave him a 95 rating, but rivals gave him a 2 star rating coming out of high school. Is he good or is he an ok player?

While our recruiting may be sub-par on paper, Frank and staff's ability to seek out those players with potential to develop have been unmatched, IMO.
And now as I look back, :crossfingers: may not have been the best choice to represent Star Rating...but I'm not changing it now
Devon Peterson spent the past two years compiling community college credits, crashing on couches and playing pickup basketball.
He had become something of a mythic figure, a talented player who couldn't quite solve the eligibility puzzle. So there was some natural surprise when, two years after his last season of organized basketball, Peterson showed up at Kansas State.
"I walked into study table and saw him doing his work," forward Jamar Samuels said. "I was like, 'Yo, what are you doing? Are you supposed to be here right now?'
"He was like, 'Yeah, they just admitted me.' That was pretty cool."
K-State announced Wednesday that Peterson has joined the team as a walk-on. Peterson, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., will be eligible to compete this season as a junior.
"He's a hard-nosed kid," coach Frank Martin said. "The same path he's taken to get here echoes the kind of player he is. He's a grinder."
Peterson was a decorated high school player at Lincoln, the same school that produced Sebastian Telfair and Lance Stephenson. He began his college career at Broward College in Florida, where he averaged 16 points and earned all-conference honors as a freshman.
Peterson committed to K-State as a scholarship player two years ago, but eligibility problems delayed his enrollment.
"To his credit, he's continued to pursue it," Martin said. "He's remained loyal to us. He could have gone on scholarship and played somewhere else, but he remained committed and loyal to us."
Peterson is a scoring guard who should be in the mix to earn minutes in the backcourt opposite Jacob Pullen.
"Tough New York guard," Samuels summarized. "Tough New York guard that will help us out a lot."
In conjunction with Peterson's arrival, K-State announced that Topekan Jarrod Kruger is no longer with the program. Kruger, the nephew of former Wildcat and current UNLV coach Lon Kruger, walked on at K-State after earning second-team all-city honors as a senior at Topeka West.
Kruger :lol::frown:
with peterson coming to ksu does that mean angel rodriguez will be more likely to go some were else? :flush:
Kruger was clearly a TC, FP, etc. That or he was a spy for UNLV.

I don't get the Kruger hate. Thought the walk-on dudes were supposed to be fan favorites? Well, not really favorites but you know what I mean. :dunno:

Good to see Fitz can finally laugh along with the rest of us at his single-handed destruction of KSU football.
Kruger was clearly a TC, FP, etc.
This is the second thread today that I've seen these acronyms in. What do they mean? The other thread said Kevin Love was a TC, FP, etc.

His years of eligibility remain in question, but the NCAA has cleared him to play right away and he began practicing with the team last Friday.
I think a purple flag with this on it would be more appropriate.
