I have been in a least 74 fist fights over the years, although never with a lady.  There once was a dude that hit on me like a lady, but that is for another time.

Of all the power punches I have thrown, I never broke anyone's jaw.  Now is this cuz i am total pu$$y or because it is very hard to break someone's jaw?  Maybe both, idk.

``She doesn’t want to press charges or anything like that,” he added. ``She’s torn up now that he’s been arrested.”

Nothing to see here folks, just a little prank.  She was hiding in the dark and when good 'ol, cleancut Lace came in the room, she yelled..."boooga, booga" and scared him.  His only reaction being the finely tuned athlete that he is, was to smash her jaw with a right hook.

I bet now more pranks for her.  She better not try anything while he is sleeping!

Well . . . somebody needs to volunteer to sneak up on one of our guys . . . but crap, the guy to issue a real beat down after getting surprised is gone, so who will volunteer to do it and which player should it be?

We must offset the MCMW advantage that Baylor currently has (until the Morris twins strike again, or somebody over there rubs their Johnson all over the 54 year old housekeeper) . .

Smart move by the fater.  If she already has one kid, and another on they way, then you let bygones be bygones and do WHATEVER you can to ensure that this guy gets into the NBA...so you can hit him with the paternity, and perhaps even a jackpot...a marriage (HALF).

It's business.

Baylor's a Southern Baptist college. Southern Baptists preach that wives must submit to their husbands, and may not leave them in cases of abuse. Maybe if Baylor didn't teach hatred of women, their male students wouldn't feel justified in breaking their girlfriends' faces.

Edwards' lawyer, Jason Darling, said the victim and her family were "extremely disappointed" at the felony charge against Dunn. Darling said his client did not want to pursue charges and plans to file an affidavit of non-prosecution in an attempt to get the charges dismissed.

Darling acknowledged that Dunn did indeed punch his client in the face one time after "she got up in his face arguing."

Darling said he believed the case merited nothing more than a misdemeanor charge against Dunn based on the injuries his client sustained. He said she suffered "two minor fractures in her jaw" that were treated with "minor day surgery." He said there was minor swelling and that her jaw was not wired shut, and reports of loose or missing teeth were inaccurate.

It is a bad thing, but on a scale of relative evils, there is much worse. The baylor bubble needs a reality check. Anyone been to the middle east? Apparently you can kill your wife if she is an adulterer not to mention beating the crap out of her whenever you want. The law will support you, plus if a woman is raped then it is gang bang time for everyone because she was asking for it. I'm not kidding. How about India. China?? Travel a little people. My family and I are deeply disturbed about the misinformation and half truths that are being reported by media regarding the incident with my boyfriend (LaceDarious Dunn). He has never struck me during our long term relationship. What happened on the night of September 27 was an accident and I went to the hospital for precautionary reasons. I never expressed any interest in pressing charges nor will I in the future press charges on this incident. I am fine and my jaw is not broken as is being reported. My family and I wish to put this situation behind us. Lace and I will continue our relationship and raising our son in a good environment.  I respectfully request that the District Attorney's Office dismiss these charges, and further request that Baylor University lift their suspension.

Her lawyer is incompetent, too.  It was clearly an accident when "Dunn did indeed punch his client in the face one time after she got up in his face arguing."  She should sue the hell out of her own lawyer for reporting those lies.

Seriously, though.  How many times will the story change, and who do they think will believe these altered versions?  Regardless of whether the charges get dropped, the story has pretty much been laid out there by the police, victim (at times), her attorney, etc.  What does Drew do if the charges get dropped?  Tricky situation.  If they go the "It was an accident, there was no intended physical harm" route, then they really can't suspend him for any games.  After all, it was just an accident.  The backlash from that would be great.  If they admit that he punched her on purpose (hard enough to fracture her jaw in two places) it seems the suspension would have to be for more than just a couple games.  Suspended for non-con?  I dunno.  It almost seems like it has to be no suspension or a major suspension.   :dunno:

Great job by the family and Drew.

The PROPER and PRUDENT move by any battered woman in this situation is to do EXACTLY as she is doing....ensure your revenue stream is taken care of.  Getting him into the NBA is what she owes her child at this point.

If another event ever happens again, you have "priors" in place now to increase future punishment.

Nevermind the woman battering thing. Did Baylor know that Dunn has at least one child outside the sacred bonds of wedlock?!  :runaway:

he doesn't have nba talent.  don't know for sure, but i bet child support, etc. is more difficult w. international revenues.

What's more Christian then showing grace and forgiveness? Suspend him for 2010 and attendence to anger management/celebrate recovery program is required. Bring him back in January with stipulations that any other trouble and he's suspended for the rest of the season. Bottom line is that working toward rehabbing this young man would go along way for Drew's Christian approach.

These guys are great!  Seriously!?!?  Well - January would get him back by Big 12 play.

Not sure, but I know if I were to ever bruise my wife, let alone break her jaw, I would be straight-up murdered.

His counsel, who is his representative, admitted to punching her.  The doctor gave a statement that she was blasted.

You will really have to wallow low to get around these 2 facts.

Dunn's girlfriend is black, right? I wonder if the response would be so forgiving if she were white. I mean, this is Texas we're talking about.

Waco Police arrested Baylor football players Willie Jefferson and Josh Gordon for drug possession after Jefferson fell asleep in the driver's seat of a car in the Taco Bell drive-thru lane at 824 S. 6th St.

Police responded to the call of a passed-out man in the drive-thru lane at 2:15 Sunday morning and upon arrival found both players in the vehicle, along with a bag of marijuana in the center console.  After searching further they uncovered additional bags in the driver side floorboard.

Both Jefferson and Gordon were brought to McLennan County Jail where they posted $1000 bonds.

Dood didn't get a DUI?  No way that guy just straight passed out in a drive thru after just smoking some weed.  If he did, I would like to know what he was smoking, for research purposes.

So he's pretty mumped then huh?

This presents a major problem. Dunn hasn't been suspended from his team, but if he's unable to attend classes for an extended period of time, he could find himself unable to qualify academically for the spring semester. The spring semester happens to be, you know, when the majority of the basketball season -- including the Big 12 regular season, Big 12 tournament, and NCAA tournament -- takes place. It would be something of an end-around punishment, and it's entirely possible Dunn the case could be settled and Dunn could be reinstated to the team before the fall semester is out. But if Dunn misses too many classes, that wouldn't matter.

from espn

WACO, Texas -- Baylor guard LaceDarius Dunn's suspension will go through the first three games of the regular season, then he will be eligible to play for the Bears (No. 16 ESPN/USA Today, No. 14 AP) again Nov. 22.

The school made that announcement before their season opener Friday night.

Dunn, the team's leading scorer last season, had been indefinitely suspended since he was arrested last month after police accused him of breaking his girlfriend's jaw in a domestic dispute.

The woman, Lacharlesla Edwards, disputed police accounts, saying Dunn didn't hit her and her jaw wasn't broken. Edwards, the mother of Dunn's 3-year-old son, has asked that all charges be dropped.

Waco police sent the case to McLennan County District Attorney John Segrest, who hasn't commented. Segrest, who lost his re-election bid and will leave office Jan. 4, didn't return a phone call Friday.

The school said in its release that Dunn's three-game suspension is for "a team rules violation." Dunn did not play in the Bears' preseason scrimmage or an exhibition game before the regular-season opener against Grambling State. He will also miss games against La Salle and Jackson State.

The school said there would be no further comment on Dunn's suspension.

Dunn's attorney, Vikram Deivanayagam, declined to comment Friday.

Waco police have said officers were called to Hillcrest Hospital on Sept. 27 to investigate an assault on Edwards. Dunn was arrested after turning himself into authorities Oct. 5, the same day his suspension from the team was announced.

Dunn was suspended academically Oct. 7, but a Baylor disciplinary panel allowed him to return to class the following week.

Deivanayagam said in a statement then that the Baylor University Judicial Affairs Disciplinary Committee heard evidence and found Dunn "not guilty of assaulting a female which resulted in her jaw being broken," quoting from a letter he said he received from the panel.

After the decision, Dunn was allowed to practice with the Bears but remained suspended from competition.

Dunn was a second-team All-Big 12 pick last season when he averaged 19.6 points and 4.8 rebounds while the Bears set a school record with 28 victories and got within one win of making their first NCAA Final Four appearance in 60 years. He set school records for points (704), 3-pointers (116) and free throw shooting percentage (85.7 on 126 of 147 free throws).

Dunn needs 451 points this season to become the school's career scoring leader, and 518 for the Big 12 lead. He holds the Baylor record with 299 career 3-pointers, 91 short of the conference mark.
