Twitter is going nuts with calls for Turner's head. Listen people, he needs time. The guy cannot right this ship overnight. If you give this guy 6 to 9 years good things will happen.
-
Mangino left the cupboard bare. He deserves time to get his guys in there.
He has a very old team and will run the bad eggs out.
-
Give him that long, might as well drop football like WSU.
-
To be fair...we call for HCBS's head every time we lose as well.
-
Give him that long, might as well drop football like WSU.
Did you see his current recruiting class?! It's full of potential, and you are a hater if you won't admit that.

Lot of haters on this board. a lot.

Just between you and me, I think there is some :opcat: too.

I don't doubt it. Don't doubt it one bit.
-
Hate to see the haters . . . The Hoover Dam wasn't built in a day, and ku football isn't going to get turned around over night.
It's hard to get the ship righted when a program has lost 7 . . . well, make it 8 straight conference games.
-

I don't doubt it. Don't doubt it one bit.
It's not like he rebuilt Buffalo overnight. Certainly it was a garbage conference but still. Gotta get a few senior classes through the system.
-
Didn't he beat a top 15 team this year? Who else in the Big 12 has done that so far?

Bingo
-
Didn't he beat a top 15 team this year? Who else in the Big 12 has done that so far?
Can't think of anyone. :dunno:
-
should give him a 15 year extension to celebrate that win
-
Georgia Tech is really, really good . . . great win for ku.
-
should give him a 15 year extension to celebrate that win
A banner and a field rush will have to do. :kugoalposts:
-
I know the score doesn't show it, but I'm seeing a lot of positives out there for the Jayhawks.

Not Gill's fault . . . not his recruits, Mangino left the cupboard bare.

Not at all. Half the team has quit, but the other half is playing their hearts out

I completely agree, and I, for one, hope he gets at least nine years to do the job the right way.
-
It wouldn't surprise me in the least if some of the old Mangino era players cared more about sex with women than they do about the team
-

You can almost see it out there on the field. I bet Turner can still turn a few around though. Guys like Laptad and Thorson may be too far gone though.
-
I would prob prescribe more work on the BELIEVe chant, that should get it
-
Is Art Briles passing the Big 12 Torch of Despair to Gill directly after the game? And is FSN extending coverage to show it? TIA
-
No doubt it is the half hearted effort of the Mangino players . . . the cupboard was bare for Gill, even the Roaches packed up their $hit and moved on when they saw those empty shelves.
-
Is Art Briles passing the Big 12 Torch of Despair to Gill directly after the game? And is FSN extending coverage to show it? TIA
Did they televise it when Ron got his in Waco?
-
It wouldn't surprise me in the least if some of the old Mangino era players cared more about sex with women than they do about the team
I strongly suspect some of the veterans snuck cell phones into the pre-game locker room.
-
Until the message of abstaining from pre-marital sex has penetrated every one of the KU players they will have problems. Luckily Turner has earned at least enough time to get the entire roster flushed of the Mangino players and their lusty hedonism.
-

And cussed out their gf's, no doubt.
-
Disgusting the way Baylor is leaving their second team on the field and running it up.
-
Disgusting the way Baylor is leaving their second team on the field and running it up.
Was just thinking this. Art Briles must have an ax to grind.
-
Like I said, they probably haven't looked at Baylor, all DSS oriented practices, and this week the purity of thought seminars start.
This is looking bad for EMAW.
Briles ='s hater.
-
Disgusting the way Baylor is leaving their second team on the field and running it up.
It's pretty obvious that they're trying to surpass 64-0. Disgusting.
-
But..but..but.....KU is God's team. Isn't it?
-
The way Gill is maintaining his composure during this humiliation is pretty impressive. Will help with all the Texas recruits that he was already killing it with.
-
I bet some of the upper classmen are thinking about getting boners this very moment. And with the lord's day looming no less! :horrorsurprise:
-

sd, I'd even go so far as to say that some of them are actually playing with boners right this second.

Fat little girlfriends are trouble.

Well, they certainly aren't playing with Baylor.
-
The future is very bright for Turner and you are blind if you can't see that. Here is the evidence

Kansas down 55-7 to BAYLOR early in the 4th. Turner Gill still plans to hand out orange slices & tootsie pops after the game
Another hater

clearly . . . wow, so very much hate.
-
Art, did you really need to hand the ball off that many times in the second half? What a POS.
-
At some point you guys are going to have to put down the "Team, State, etc" Kool-Aid. Wow. Bunch of sheeple over here. :lynchmob:
-
I hope when conference realignment happens, we can convince the powers that be to let us bring ku along and give Gill his chance to get this thing cleaned up.

An excellent timeout by Gill. Great inspirational/learning opportunity for the Mangino trash.

Yeah, they almost got that play off. I say end on a high note by getting off a solid play.

Boom, penalty free rush for a gain. Baylor won the battle but I think we can all say that Turner as his boys are on their way to winning the war.
-
Was it military appr' day in Waco? tough to win when that is going on. Turner may have rolled over to show his respect for the troops?
-
Art Briles is adorable. Looks like a guy you'd call to come snake your toilet or talk to at the local grain elevator about bean prices. Real salt of the earth kinda guy I guess is what I'm getting at.
-

Also, a total prick for leaving his third team in to run up the score. Real classy, Art.

KU went 1-7 in the Big 12 last year with the best QB and two best WR's in school history. I'm not saying that the coaching today didn't suck equally as bad as the players on the field, but no, I'm not going to place all of the blame for this loss on Gill. Mangino was a solid coach, but KU's o-line is below average for a BCS program and the defense is slow. Gill inherited this team, and he's going to have to figure out a way to make them competitive somehow.
-

Wouldn't doubt it for a second. He's known to say God, Country, Family, School, Education, Town, County, Supporting Local Business, Charities, Making Sure All The Pound Puppies Are Adopted, Township, Casual Acquaintances, Team

Agree 100%. Tough to recruit solid players to a garbage town like Lawrence. Gill showing real guts to take the KU job, surely means good things for KU going forward.
-
You are so right beam. Time. All he needs. As said above, 8 or 9 years.
-
Great call Ben . . . good to see you've correctly changed your mind and determined that indeed the cupboard was bare, and that Mangino recruited a bunch of really bad players.

Bingo!
He's polishing this turd as much as anyone could. Sometimes it shines (Georgia Tech), but mostly it just looks like a turd.
-
Hope I have a sex dream tonight!
-

I wouldn't say that the cupboard was completely bare, but KU definitely has holes at certain spots. The d-line/o-line are especially bad for a Big 12 program. I'm going to at least give Gill a couple years to bring in some of his own recruits before I write him off as the worst KU football coach since Terry Allen.
-
That 3.10 avg star rating in the 2008 recruiting class sure is looking way off now . . . T. Gill must be shaking his head over what Mangino left behind.
-

Literally a Maurice Couch commitment away from being back on '07 level of competitiveness.
-
Guys...
Gill at Buffalo 20-30
Gill at KU 2-3
Everything is right on track folks. A couple plays go the other way today and it's a whole new ball game.
-
That 3.10 avg star rating in the 2008 recruiting class sure is looking way off now . . . T. Gill must be shaking his head over what Mangino left behind.
Out of the four o-line recruits in that class, only two are still on the team, and one of them was switched to d-tackle (John Williams). Like I said, KU's o-line is awful for a Big 12 program. KU isn't bad at the skill positions, but there's not much you can do when you can't run the football or protect the QB on a consistent basis.
-
Gill's big mistake was assembling a crackerjack recruiting team rather than coach 'em up types. But it'll pay off in time.
-
I honestly kind of feel bed for Gill. I don't know that he is the right guy for the job, but I doubt he ever gets a chance to really prove himself. They will have a new AD next year and that guy is gong to want to get someone else in there in a hurry especially if the fans keep going apeshit over KU losing like they are. I can see Gill going like 8-15 over two years and getting run out of town.
He would be hard pressed to get another HC job again after that. Sucks for him. He won't ever get the chance.
-

I really liked the defensive gameplan Torbush put together today. The players just didn't execute.

Looks like nicname went and bought sams club out of their entire stock of haterade  Have some faith!

Yeah, clearly it's the coach's fault that a 6'3 215 WR from Baylor out-ran everyone on KU's defense for a 94 yard TD after catching a screen pass. I'll be damned if Torbush doesn't step out there on the field and make the tackles himself.
-
I prefer the sugar free variety- H2.
-
bomani_jones
tell you this: kansas keeps losing AND they can't see girls after 10? somebody call child services or something.
All the haters have to get their shots in :jerk:
-
It's tough has hell to recruit to ku. I think Gill is doing his best with what he has.
-
here is the deal. mangino did it with smoke and mirrors and turner gill is actually trying to lay a foundation. those fans just need to be patient.
-

You know what's even worse than their immature tweets that are eating the team from the inside? How these team cancers are just blatantly tweeting them on their phones THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO TURN IN!

When Gill gets his Christian players to "pray-in" and do it the right way... then KU will start to see the momentum begin to shift.
-
They may be losing a lot of games, but those young men are building character at an incredible pace

Fellas, help me out with something.
This list: http://kansasstate.rivals.com/offerlist.asp In prior years it would have a few rows on it that would say "Kansas," but there are none of them this year. Cause? :dunno:
-
Darrian Miller :star: :star: :star: :star: 5.8 5-10 /181/- Blue Springs, MO 23 list
seems like that's one that should say "KANSAS," w/ KC being in KU's backyard and all. Weird. :dunno:, bro. Hopefully a recruiting insidery guy can clear it up.

I wonder how much of it has to do with players wanting to have sex in college?
Seems like mumped up priorities to me, but then again who am I to judge?

Being on a crappy team.

Ooh, praying and bible study too.

This morning ku alumnus Fescoe was calling for Turner's head, mentioning the NDSU and Baylor losses as being so horrid change must happen. Obviously, he ignored the overwhelming destruction that Turner's team laid down on #15 GaTech.
Anyway, when confronted with the fact Mangino basically sucked as bad as Turner for 5 years before the fluke of 2007, he stated "any comparisons between Tuner Gill and Mark Mangino make my skin crawl" :horrorsurprise:
His reason was obviously the color of Turner's skin, but after a commcercial break as his producer's informed him that being a black man is not grounds for firing, he stated that Turner "just looks disorganized on the sideline, he stares into space" No game analysis, no actual wins and losses comparison between MM and TG. Just because he doesn't like the way TG looks on the sideline.
I didn't think stuff like this could happen in 2010 but there is a large ku contingent that is very :opcat:
-
This is all very much like Remember the Titans, only where Densel doesn't win every game.

If ku fans think a brick thrown through the window will drive Turner Gill out of Lawrence, Kansas, they don't know the Turner Gill I know.

Been reading message boarders blaming TURNER GILL!!!! for them being picked 2nd in the Big 12 in b-ball. Enough is enough.
-

Burning the Bible on his front lawn might do it.
-
This will probably all end badly when KU'ers burn a lowercase t (standing for "Turner, Go Home!) in Turner's yard.
-
Really wish I was making sex with a lady right now instead of sitting in our team meeting!
:horrorsurprise:
-
I am fully on board with the clear displeasure which needs to be demonstrated in regards to the barrels of haterade being consumed and distributed over Turner Gill.
I cannot help but be slightly amused by some of the comparison. One of my favorites was a sarcastic post about how Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh must be terrible coaches since their teams lost to Alabama and Oregon. Goodness, if Baylor is as good as Alabama and Oregon we won't fare any better in Waco than ku did. :ohno:
-
In fact, in some ways this no-girl rule could be helpful in recruiting. Part of what Gill is trying to sell to these kids Momma's is that her son is going to be kept out of trouble at KU.
This kind of stuff really plays well in some circles. Especially in certain parts of Texas and the south.
-
which would be worse for ku, keeping gill around 3-4 yrs or firing him after this season? who would want to come to a school who fires a guy after 1 year? not to mention the recruiting clusterfuck and buyout issues. ku is doomed.

LFBIQ post. A guy like Gill who does things "The Right Way" needs at least 10-15 years to get his own people in and his own team Chapel built with his own clip art on it.
-
I think the haters are not only racist, they are godless heathens. An oppy to build your program the right way doesn't occur very often so it should be taken advantage of. And a minimum of 7 years should be allowed.
-
I was having lunch with a huge ku fan, I told him to give Turner at leats 5 years, he literally yelled "YOU give Turner 5 years at K-State!"
I was al like "I'd love too....his second game OF HIS CAREER AT KU HE ROLLED THE #15 TEAM IN THE COUNTRY!!"

From SalinaHawk (as auraltooth defends Gill - I hope there are legions of auraltooths out there and they have mucho influence with KU) "Dude.......Quantrill versus Lawrence was closer than this s-hit."

bob tried to discredit the win but overall sounded like his usual, shitty, self.

We dominated them in every facet of the game. The only way you could discredit that win would be to admit that KU sucks really, really bad.

Is there really any question?

Just can't see Bob and the gang admitting to that during a broadcast, so I'm curious how he downplayed the win.
-
Bob blamed the refs alot of the time...he was not talking it well..the best part was with like 7 mins left in the 4th they kicked down to Nate Bukaty to talk about late night and basketball...it was very funny
-

You could literally hear the disgust in his voice in the second half, which of course I listened to on the drive home to Wichita instead of watching anymore of the X-Rated ClusterEff on the field.

Bob's call on the scoop and score was absolutely golden. "Oh and the ball's loose. K-State's got it across midfield, to the 35...30..25.................(dead air)....sigh"

awesome. really wish any torrent upload would have the ku call added to it. has to be amazing.

If the mob in ku land get their way . . . it's going to cost ku $8 million to get rid of Gill, probably another $1.5 million to dump the staff, and then another couple of million to bring on a new staff all in a very short period of time. So that's about $11-$12 million to get their wish.

As a huge Royals fan () I can say that I hated Bob way before I even knew uk was on the radio.

"Turner Gill is the $10 million coach of a five-cent program" Now that's just plain mean! :)

WTF?
"Kansas State’s Arthur Brown stripped the ball from Kansas’ Deshaun Sands for one of the Jayhawks’ three turnovers."
(Sugar Sack beat me) :curse: :curse:
"Kansas went 1-7 in the Big 12 last year with a team that lost the most productive quarterback and pair of wide receivers in school history."
Mellinger is some kind of horrible. But nowhere near as bad as Kellis
-
I'm waiting for this one- "No one has disputed that Turner Gill is a great person, he has shown us all that. But, he's in over his head. After this season he should do the right thing and step down and refuse the contract buy-out. It will save him and the University a very painful and embarassing 4 years."
-
"You can get blown out by Nebraska or Oklahoma, and nobody will think much of it. But to do it against a team headed for the Holiday Bowl is something else entirely."
Can we get this in writing? Seems like it would require more than just basic knowledge of the game of football would be required to be a sports writer. :dunno: :dunno:
Guess not.
-
It’s too early to talk seriously of firing Gill. But it’s plenty fair to be convinced that his time at Kansas will end in shame and set the program back years.

The words I heard Turner being called by ku fans haven't been uttered since Selma, AL.

For the past eight seasons, Kansas University had a fat football coach. This season, the Jayhawks have too many fat players...KU doesn’t look like a football team. Too many players have gained substantial weight since last season, and it’s not muscle-weight. They look so immobile.
Oh, I suppose they're too busy eating fried chicken and drinking 40s while not wanting to get/do their jobs, Keegan? Sheesh.
Plus side: the fact that they're all fatties will help enforce the 10 pm rule. But srsly, they should hire FFF as a consultant. Dude looks amazing.

Didn't the Holiday Bowl drop down a few pegs on the bowl bid list?

Listen Dr. Saturday. Enough is enough.
• Kansas attempts to foster an air of high-minded professionalism under first-year head coach Turner Gill by banning swearing, requiring community service, confiscating cell phones on Friday nights and forbidding contact with females after 10 p.m.
• Washington State wants to get high, apparently.
• Advantage: Washington State. If you're going to lose, you might as well enjoy it.

Hey, Keitzman. Lay off Turner. He doesn't need to just take his medicine. He needs to continue to run his system even if they are getting embarrassed. They really need the practice at it. Let him coach!

I was right. Threw Mangino under the bus. KU has no talent, you can't expect Turner Gill to compete witht he likes of LHC Bill Snyder when Mangino left the program exactly how he found it. Oh, yeah. He also said KU was racist if they fire Gill before 3 years are up. I'm sure he planted that little seed to give the current administration pause. If its racist to fire Turner Gill right now, give me my white hood.
:surprised:

NMFANINOKC wrote: Not that it would be racist to fire him but I hate to say this, him being an African American coach in todays world will buy him atleast 3 years. That is unless he does some horrible things off the field and I do not see that happening. Let's face it, we are stuck with Gill for atleast 2-3 more years.
-
Hard to imagine that UK is in the same position that they were before Mangino arrived. Seems like they should have talent on the team, though it's hard to tell by watching them. What happened to all the guys Mangino recruited?

Would females be included in "cats who don't attend KU"? Because if so, sounds like there may have been a violation here. WTF is Gill supposed to do with this crap hand he's been dealt?

The closet KU fan racists are really coming out of the woodwork now. The hate is now extending to KU's new chancellor, Bernadette Gray-Little (who is a black woman). Stay tuned, folks, this could get ugly.

Chancellor Gray-Little is in a horrible position here. On the one hand, she'd be "safe" in the KU community just Uncle-Tomming the eff out of Turner, but on the other hand she'd lose her ability to obtain a presidency/chancellorship at a leading academic institution in the future (which clearly has to be her personal goal).
Feel for ya, Bernie. :embarrassed:

I love how Turner basically just stole a year from Hawkins' contract (no racist).
Can you imagine what it will be like when he gets his own elite recruits in there?

In case you hadn't noticed Hawk wasn't going to be around for that last year anyways. But the point is valid; how does it feel to get somebody fired, Turner?

Could someone please darken this one up :driving: a la the CK one? To me it would symbolize Turner "turning" the corner.

Tyler Patmon tells the haters to STFU!
"That guy right there, he's one of the greatest coaches I've ever been around," defensive back Tyler Patmon said. "He's always supportive, always positive. It feels great to get this win for him."

What a win. Reminds me of Snyd's come from behind victories back in the D.O.D. vs. the likes of Iowa State & Oklahoma State. They most definitely caught, threw, tackled & kicked when it mattered the most. The distinct recipe for success.
-
Rumblings that they changed things up in Lawrence.
It's no longer "Block, Tackle, Catch, and Throw", it's now "Block, Tackle, Throw, and Catch".
A minor change, but it makes all of the difference.
-
Gill is clearly a master of making the adjustments necessary to right the ship. I expect at least 10 wins from the Mighty Jayhawks next year.

Toben_Opurum35 - Lol UDK is a joke. We lose...we're wrong. We win...we're wrong. That's alright...we do it for us...not ya'll.

Agreed. If they would just move the blocking part to just before the throwing and catching parts, they may just have a decent team on their hands.

At it again :jerk:

I don't know how anyone could list to TGs show and gain any confidence in him as a coach. I know public speaking isn't a pre-requisite for being a football coach, but they guy can barely string together coherent sentences or thoughts. All it does is add to the perception he is in over his head and doesn't have the intelligence to be a head coach. He really can't articulate any sort of intelligent thought. He just repeats the same phrases and words over and over.
Contrast that with Reggie Mitchell who I heard on the radio this week. He was well-spoken, articulate, and made some really intelligent points about the program.
I recognize radio interviews aren't the benchmark for coaching ability, but it really makes you wonder if TG is intelligent enough to be a head coach.

The most realistic tactic would be to start on the practice field then move to the empty Memorial Stadium to simulate the second half.

Gill was probably just a couple of decent coordinators away from being pretty decent in a tough conference.
Oh well JoCo white bread land was never going to give him a real shot.
