High five, bro's. :woot:
Once again proves that Queso doesn't lose.
Better luck next time, Team Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).
-
Last week you push the stat line, this week you resort to pushing the win column?
-
Not every game is about stats. All that matters is the "W's" and "L's."
Queso is all about the W's this season (3 of them) and tells the L's to GTFOOHF (zero of them)
-

QBs get the praise when they win and the blame when they lose, that's just a fact.

His worst accuracy day yet.
rough ridin' horrible.
Go Team Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!)!!!!!

fracking horrible.
Go Team Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!)!!!!!
It was a very underwhelming performance. But I guess they all are if you try to grade him against most D1 quarterbacks.
He did the one thing a player of his talent level can't do, and that's turn the ball over (for points no less). If he's going to be in the game, fine, but he can't toss pick 6's and fumble the ball like he did against UCLA.
I'd rather have just about anyone else, but it is what it is. He's what we've got, and we just have to deal with it.
I'd suggest he not say things like he's going to "put on a show" or anything like that.
-
Carsy ran very well today. Looks like crap while doing it, but the results were good.
I understand he is what he is, and that is all we got.

Maybe we should do what I use to in NCAA when I had trouble moving the pigskin and substitute Carsy for the fastest guy on are team and just the run the option. Seems like a good plan, no?

Carsy should be setting aside money each week because DT is going to have a pretty good case for a cival law suit by the time the season is done and DT has been worn down like a cheap whore and gets hurt. Because carsy is such a fracking Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) of a player, daniel has to carry the goddamn ball obscene amounts per game.
-
Feels good. Lazer is looking good, Thom the Train looks good. Too bad Hrebeck looks like crap.

I was surprised that Thomas got 34 carries. Powell was running well; he probably could have taken a few more just to lighten the load a bit.
ISU's run defense is horrible. It wouldn't have mattered if Powell took a few more carries. We still would have moved the chains.

Honestly, I'm still confused why Harper isn't an option at all. If all they're going to do is let the QB throw the ball 12 times a game, it may as well be one that can run. He can't throw much worse than Coffman, right? Right?
And I get it when people say that Snyder wants a kid that can read a defense, make calls at the line, etc. But he's made exceptions in the past. I don't see why he can't do that now.
-
Feels good. Lazer is looking good, Thom the Train looks good. Too bad Hrebeck looks like crap.
9 more tackles tonight for the Ginger Assassin. He now leads the team with 29, 9 more than the next guy. He's so bad!!! lol!!! rofl!!! lmao!!!

No, it doesn't seem like a good idea. Furthermore, take your stupid ass NCAA trick plays to some goddamn video game message board, you rough ridin' Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!). How did I not realize earlier that everything you know about football you learned from playing a freaking video game? How did I not see that one coming?

The other board believes that Harper is some kind of secret weapon that Bill has decided not to use yet and is saving until we really need him.
Evidently, at some point this season, we will be down a couple TD's or something and Harper will jog out and put forth the performance that the next Disney inspirational FB movie will be based on.

Harper is the epicenter of the cone of silence.
-
Harper can barely get on the field as a WR, we may need to temper our expectations of him being the messiah a little bit.

I'm not even talking about super secret formations. I mean, crap, he can't be any worse than Grant Gregory was last year. The coaches called the play, Gregory looked back at the sideline for confirmation or audible, and then they snapped the ball. Coffman has trouble hitting a 6'8" TE, so I'm assuming Harper must be Jamal Lord reincarnated to not see the field as a QB.
Maybe I'm just crazy for thinking that if we plan on running the ball 50 times a game, we may want to do it with a QB that can be a threat in that facet of the game. Or maybe I'm just continually grasping at straws because I'm tired of watching Coffman under center. I still just can't fathom how we got to this point even with the extremely limited options on the team.
-
You should have heard the CCQ love being exclaimed from our seats....'Clams was on fire, PI'd the eff out of a non-ISU-attending-but-ISU-shirt-wearing-Pakistani-guy-with-hot-blond-chick. Limestone picked up the torch after 'Clams had to leave at the half to go wash his cat....LOADS of CCQ props from our section. Carsy Juan Carlos Completion Percentage Valdez Coffman was the subject of much acclaim.

Snyder has proven lots of things during his career.
One major one is that outside Michael Bishop and maybe Ell Roberson, if you don't have Snyder's trust in understanding the offense, you aren't going to play QB for him, or at least you are going to be on a short leash.
Michael Bishop isn't suiting up for the Cats this year (and Chris Harper is no Bishop), and clearly Coffman has taken a firm hold of Snyder's trust.

My guess is that Coffman will actually grade out pretty well overall today given what Snyder is asking him to do.
Its just that his biggest mistakes were very big; a) the pick 6 b) missing McDonald for a likely TD and c) missing Smith on the sideline for a big gain (though of the 3, that was the toughest throw between the squat corner and safety in cover 2).

He also made a pretty good throw that could have been a TD if, I believe Thompson or Aubrey would have been able to make the catch. It was on a play in the redzone where he scrambled to his left and then made the throw.
His miscues this year have been really blatant the two stop and go misses, the pick 6, the missing of the TE today. But he has done a decent job of what he has been asked to do. I just wish he could do more.
I'm pretty surprised that he has had any success at all running the option.
-
Yeah, he's not all that bad on the option. Doesn't always great decisions but usually decent.

Acting like Carson is the only QB in the nation that misses throws is pretty myopic. I've seen a bunch of badly throw balls today by a variety of QBs. Last year, Carson missed every damn throw, this year he misses 3 or 4 a game. That's really not bad for a college QB.
-

Point is that he has to make a higher percentage of those plays for KSU to be successful. he had 5 memorable pass plays today. The miss on the stop and go, the overthrow to the TE, the Pick 6, the nice lob to either AQ or TT, and the nice pass over the middle to pick up the first down early in the game. He was successful on 2 of those plays, that isn't enough and the pick 6 is something he absolutely cannot let happen.
100 yards passing isn't enough and if he had connected on two more of those 5 plays he probably would have had around 50-75 more yards and at least 1 TD.
8-12 for 165 and a TD with no INT's is managing the game and will allow KSU to win games against the big12 also rans more easily, and it will allow KSU to at least have a chance against some of the better teams. That really isn't asking too much, and I'm not saying he can't get it done, but in that aspect he didn't today. The result, a really close win over a really crappy team.
CC throws like he did today and KSU goes against KU,CU,BU,ATM, UCF, UNT 2-4 or maybe 3-3. If he can go have a line similar to what I posted above we have a good chance to win all those games, and maybe pull off an upset somewhere else.

If you're going to attempt to discuss football, you'll probably not want to open by admitting you can only remember 5 plays from an entire game. And I will bet you my very warmed up tractor that we don't lose to A&M, no matter was Carson does. KU, CU, UNT all suck badly. UCF is also not good. BU and OSU will be tough but I think we can win one of those two games. UT, UNL, and TTU are going to whoops our asses. If we go 8-4, I would say Carson is doing an okay job for us.

when the hell did these guys appear on our schedule?
-
I'm saying that they were the 5 key pass plays of the game, and you are right I forgot another big play the long completion to Broderick Smith. I think Smith bailed him out on that play.
I'm talking about key plays not 5 yard outs and not talking running plays.

Hey Angelo!!!!!

My bad on ATM. I don't know why I included them.

Good point, I actually initially left UNL of the schedule as well. Hell, we may be able to beat OSU. Least, there's a better chance of us beating them than TTU.

Yeah, 20 yards per completion would be pretty good.

yeah that would be unsustainable but it would have been a realistic line for today if cc had made a couple more good throws
-
Hey Carson, thanks for "managing" the game. But you still suck.
-
Hey Carson, thanks for "managing" the game. But you still suck.
Nobody is arguing that CCQ doesn't suck. Every week everyone talks about how our qb situation is awful like it's some sort of new revelation, but guess what, we haven't had a competent quarterback since Freemaw. Thing is, all Snyder, and Coffman, can do is limit CCQ's opportunities to display how bad he sucks. So, we can either continue to be shocked about our sub-par qb play on a week in or week out basis, or pop our collars about being 3-0.
Consider this guy's collar popped.
:gocho:

Feels good. Lazer is looking good, Thom the Train looks good. Too bad Hrebeck looks like crap.
9 more tackles tonight for the Ginger Assassin. He now leads the team with 29, 9 more than the next guy. He's so bad!!! lol!!! rofl!!! lmao!!!
He is undersized. He gets no tfl. He gives up 2 yards after contact. He does not stay home. He does not get off blocks. He rushes the A/B gap and gets immediately stood up.
So yeah, in a 4-3 as a linebacker he will probably get the most tackles, but that means next to nothing. He is crap and he is one of the main reasons why this team will be a disappointment to those who want to give Thomas what he deserves for giving up his health for EMAW.
Harold and Brown have actually delivered and the thanks they get is our freaking lb corpse.

I see what you did there.

Feels good. Lazer is looking good, Thom the Train looks good. Too bad Hrebeck looks like crap.

I guess the 4 Pro Bowl linebackers from 2009 are all undersized, as well. And I am pretty sure you don't know what the A-B gaps are.
Hrbec- 5'11", 250 lbs
Ray Lewis- 6'1", 250 lbs
Patrick Willis- 6'1", 240 lbs
Jon Beason- 6'0", 237lbs
David Harris- 6'2", 245 lbs

Hrebec is NOT undersized for a College FB linebacker.

To be fair, hrebec may be perfectly adept at watching his friend kill someone and then keeping his mouth shut. :dunno:

JTGOPO,
It's cool that you think Hrebec is a future NFL Pro Bowler (I mean, why else would you compare him to Pro Bowlers?). Be proud that you're the first (and only) person to make that comparison. Stick to your guns, hoss.

What the hell happened here?
1) Hrebec is not the same size as Ray Lewis. At all. Photographic evidence (indisputable):

2) If Hrebec is 250, then he plays smaller than "210 lbs" Josh freaking SS/Rover/undersized WLB Buhl.
3) I know where A and B gaps are. They are where Hrebec runs into the waiting arms of a blocker and flails as the play continues unabated.
4) The substance of the post: he sucks. The linebackers suck. The size of his/their suck is clearly larger than whatever mythical poundage the K-State SID in conjunction with the weight staff have concocted for your KSTATEO consumption. I'm sure Mark Jansen will quote it approvingly, adding: "the size of Hrebec's heart is unlisted in this year's media guide, but only because there are no scales able to measure its heft." So go read that crap and feel content while the rest of us prepare our tender, EMAW for the coming storm. Look, we aren't cynical and negative because we don't care. It is because we care too much. But I'm sure that bragging all day at your crappy mid-level job to your Jayhawker coworkers really does it for you. And I'm sure it is all that could fill your pathetic world. But sir, there are others who strive for great things in life. We have seen the moutaintop, and we want it. So go on with you and your other hilltoppers, with your hilltopper pride. Also, Buhl was not anything close to a SS/Rover. Just a plain ol' WLB. When didn't utilize any sort of hybrid LBs back then. And I have never once said that I am pleased with where this team is, or pleased with the overall play of the majority of our players. However, Hrbec has been one of our 2 most reliable defensive players, so all these posts about him sucking are just clear evidence of the incredibly LFBIQ many of the posters on this board possess. And Mr. KK rides the short bus every morning with that group of window lickers.

1) You clearly didn't grasp that I was referring to Buhl's size.
2) what has Hrebec done? He has got tackles. HE'S SUPPOSED TO GET TACKLES, HE IS A FREAKING LINEBACKER. He (and the rest of the linebackers/front 7) have also been demonstrably poor as it relates to 1) stopping the run 2) providing any pressure on quarterbacks.
Stop changing the subject and start explaining why our front 7 (-Harold/Brown) are doing anything worth calling top 2.

I really have no idea what the hell you are talking about. And Hrbec is a MLB, the OLBs would be the ones blitzing, if we ever really blitzed. Pretty hard to fault a dude for not being behind the line of scrimmage when the game plan almost never calls for him to be behind the line of scrimmage. I mean, I guess he could just tackle the rb just after he gets the handoff every time...

One of the few blitz packages we have has Hrebec up the poopshoot. On a related not, he has not closed a hole in his life.
Or he could not get off his block until the running back is half way to a first down (see: 4.5 ypc).

You do realize that one of the d-lineman's main objective is to keep the blockers off the LBs, right? You really think Hrbec should simply be shrugging 300lb o-lineman?

 Man, I literally just face palmed, in real life. How do you propose that the LB "uses his speed" to get around an o-lineman (who are also capable of moving, BTW) before the RB simply goes around the other side of the lineman? Like, use his speed to go straight through the lineman? Our d-line needs to keep their o-line from breaking through into the second and third levels. Anytime an o-lineman and a LB meet, it's going to be a huge advantage for the o-line guys. And a large part of why our LBs are not able to make good solid tackles is because they are making the tackles while they are still engaged with a lineman.

Just me being me here, but don't rule out Sammy for this weekend as for what I have heard, he may get his shot this weekend. This is from a very good source, without giving out his identity, I will just say it is as close to the horses mouth as it can get. Not that Coach is upset with CC, just that Sammy has been impressing in practice and has shown he deserves his shot. Vanilla will be the word on Saturday, but just don't be surprised if you see Sammy out there. FWIW

my favorite tard point of overdiscussed tard qb argument/discussion that has been going on for six months has been the tards that thought/think that ksu would only win 3 games with carson but would win 8 or 9 games with a really good qb, as if there were enough bad spots on the team to allow for a three win season regardless of who the qb is or that there are enough good spots to allow for a 9 win season if the qb was better. nobody overvalues the qb and it's importance as much as tard ksu fans wanting desparately to talk tardball w/ other tards.
brian kavanaugh was a below average ncaa d1 qb and he led ksu to 9-3 with the three losses all being to teams ranked in the top ten. ell roberson 2003 lost 3 games as well, including one to unranked oklahoma state.

Try hitting the "Show the last posts" button and see my grand plan. All it would take is some climbing gear and courage.

I can't believe I'm doing this but, I think Hrbeck made a pretty nice tackle for loss in ISU's last possesion or 2nd to last, can't remember. But he stopped Robinson 2 yards short of a 1st down. Looked like a good tackle to me. I know that is just one play but as with Coffman he must be the best we have and he seems servicable enough, he's no DOD linebacker but he does O.K.
Did any one read the quote and I don't have a link, but when asked what he thought about running as much as he did this week Carson said "I'd rather be throwing the ball but I'll do what ever they ask me to do." I'm glad he isn't thowing as much as he thinks he wants to.

I think I know which Hrebeck tackle you're talking about. Looked solid in real time, replay showed that Kibble had they guy wrapped up. Hrebeck basically hit a guy that was going down anyway.

great motor on hrbec then if true. the guy just never quits. even when it looks like he could take the rest of the play off, the guy just continues to play hard. way to go hrebec. that never quit attitude is just what that defense needs. fantastic play if cns casey is correct. great work ethic on that youngster. hrebec told that guy "no, no. you are not picking up extra yards after the initial hit while i am on watch"

my favorite tard point of overdiscussed tard qb argument/discussion that has been going on for six months has been the tards that thought/think that ksu would only win 3 games with carson but would win 8 or 9 games with a really good qb, as if there were enough bad spots on the team to allow for a three win season regardless of who the qb is or that there are enough good spots to allow for a 9 win season if the qb was better. nobody overvalues the qb and it's importance as much as tard ksu fans wanting desparately to talk tardball w/ other tards.
brian kavanaugh was a below average ncaa d1 qb and he led ksu to 9-3 with the three losses all being to teams ranked in the top ten. ell roberson 2003 lost 3 games as well, including one to unranked oklahoma state.
roberson didn't play against marshall and arguably played injured against texas and okla st
