1. Chicken Pot Pie
Not sure about 2-10.

Chicken and dumplings
-
Chili hell yeah, I'll put it at #3
-
(_____) beans and ham.
I prefer northern beans.
-

Taco soup
hamburger casserole
Biscuits and gravy
-
Pho
-
Pot roast
Ham and beans
-
we had homemade chicken pot pie yesterday, making chili mac tomorrow
-
Soup is definitely top 5 but I'm going to combine all soups together to put SOUP at #4. Some might disagree with this decision but those people can shove it up their b-hole. Just kidding.
But does the SOUP category contain STEW? Hmmm. It definitely does not contain CHILI. Damn, idk.
-
White people tacos
Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup
-
Sloppy joes anyone?

my (galaxy brain) tastes are so evolved that they are completely decoupled from the weather. This summer? Had chicken soup (ChiSo, as we like to call it, also huge time-saver) anytime i had a hankerin'. True Fact: monday i took my young daughter to her gymnastics class, and on the way home we stopped at Wendy's to get Frostys. I got a medium, she got a small, both chocolate. She got vanilla the previous time (like a huge idiot) and this time was like daddy i want chocolate and i was like of course you do and i would have gotten you a chocolate last time but as your Father it is my responsibility to let you make your own mistakes and learn from them. Anyway my point being that it was in the low 30s (fahrenheit) at the time her and I got those small and medium chocolate Frostys, respectively. Incredible.

One of the only businesses open on Monday in Aggieville after Snowmageddon 2025 was Cold Stone :surprised:
-
How about piping hot bowl of Vietnamese Pho! Also keeping in the southeastern Asia theme, a nice bowl of hearty dumpling soup from Blue Koi is nice when it’s cold out.
-
i guess now is the best time for me to drop a frosty timesaver life hack with everyone here that I spent the better part of 2024 working on-
instead of ordering a chocolate frosty I say “froc” and instead of ordering a vanilla frosty, I say “frov”
i did have to invest a bit of time telling my life hack to the workers at the various wendy’s restaurant drive thrus that are around here but the payoff is worth it. when I see the lightbulbs go off over their heads, I simply pull away from the drive thru window and say “this one is on me!”. lol everyone always laughs.
-
Same. Except I say 'froch' for chocolate.
-
After much consideration I'm putting pot roast at #2. And thank you for the suggestion because I'm currently planning a pot roast dinner tonight.
-
Cheeseburgers
-
Any hot noodle dish such as pad kee mow

Above soup? Very spicy (unlike pot roast) take!

Red beans and rice

I knew it would be controversial but I'm going to stick with it. I wanted something solid in that #2 spot since CPP is a bit stew-like.

Pretty much all soups. One of the lil croppings made some Swiss barley and ham stew with homemade bread last night that really hit the spot.
I don't normally use sweetened beverages except as mixers but once or twice a year when it is really cold I will enjoy a mug of hot chocolate.

jumbalaya

A piping hot, burn the roof of your mouth bean and cheese burrito.

Ok, wow. I rarely describe anything as a "life changer" but I had to try this out on my bi-daily froc run and am already seeing positive returns, wow! The only thing...I wish you would have ended your blogpost with a "and by the way? SHE'LL like it too!"
My beautiful wife is so happy! Yipppeeeeeeeeeee!

your wife sounds beautiful both inside and outside, like a beautiful flower that has a bloom like normal flowers do and also has a bloom inside of itself around the stem area perhaps?
a lot of people say, “happy wife- happy life!”, but i say, “happy wife- america loves happiness!”.

I noticed that 33 is the only one to give a top 10, and he has since been tweaking it. Is this supposed to be a thread where we create the top 10 list together? Or are we supposed to give our own?
Mine would be:
1. Chili
2. Stew
3. Ham and Beans
4. Shepard's Pie
5. Roast Beef
6. Chicken Pot Pie
7. Minestrone
8. Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup
9. Potato Soup
10. Taco Soup

Tom!
-
we make an italian sausage soup that has orzo, spinach, tomato, basil, etc, and it's currently my favorite soup we make
-
Shepherds pie is a great one, and yet for some reason I keep forgetting it exists. Would take it over chicken pot pie any day.
-
You know why you keep forgetting it exists? Because it sucks balls compared to CPP.
-
Made some beef stew using some soup bones from the 1/4 of beef. Very good cold weather food.

You better believe it. (or should I say stew better believe it ;)) Stew #5. I'm not going to consider it soup.

Nothing about CPP is better than shepherds pie.
Superior meat
Superior source of starch
Use of vegetables is probably a tie
Less labor involved
Less lava-like interior

the invention of the typewriter in the common home is when we were a proper country. Now we are just over here googling until we find a recipe that fits what we have.

The type writer made the Church Cookbook possible which helped to document the history of the covered dish dinner.

Feel free to post your dwic pics in this thread. (dinner when it's cold)

i prefer a good bisque to any soups/stews, etc.

A bisque isn't a soup???
-
bisque snobs are THE WORST!
-
A bisque is definitely a type of soup. It's a 'all bisques are soups but not all soups are bisques' situation.
-
bisque is more of a warm milkshake than a soup
-
i came in from shoveling and made biscuits and gravy.

Is bisque cream based?
-
When I think soup, I think broth. When I think bisque, i think cream.

Is chowder soup? This question is for dlew

No, I'd consider chowder a chowder. If someone offered me "Clam Soup," I would think picture something different than Clam Chowder.
Soup=Brothy in my mind's eye.
-
I thought chowder was a bisque. And it contains broth!
-
Isn't this casserole weather? That's right in the Kansan wheelhouse.

Oh ok. In this case your mind's eye is wrong but that's ok, it's just soup!

Not sorry if reposted:
I’m going to enjoy a massive bowl of chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes for dinner tonight. Recommend eating with a generous splash of Franks Red Hot sauce.
-
It's coming to a boil right now.
