TITLETOWN - A Decade Long Celebration Of The Greatest Achievement In College Athletics History => Kansas State Football => Topic started by: CHONGS on November 16, 2024, 06:15:10 PM

Man...
-
Shitty shitty start.
-
Defensive holding… on the nose guard… on a running play…
-
Ugh
The oline is getting eaten alive
-
lol...pathetic.... running right into the teeth of the defense...
-
Oh well
-
Fire Conner Riley already before our entire season is trashed
-
Gonna get blown out at this rate
-
-
If Avery can’t/wont run then this game is already over
-
Everything just looks so so hard for us, on both sides of the ball.
-
I don't think Coach Riles is going to survive the offseason as an OC
-
This team isn't good anywhere. The big 12 sucks top to bottom. We will win this game but I ain't proud of this team
-
That was a good defensive stand there though
-
2 yard pass pattern....
-
Why do we continually throw 1 yard passes in the flat?
-
Why do we continually throw 1 yard passes in the flat?
Hoping it works 1 out of 10,000 attempts...
-
Because on OC is an unimaginative, timid loser
-
This doesn’t look like a team that’s had 2 weeks to prepare
-
getting dominated at the line of scrimmage . . .
-
Just pathetic so far
-
At least we have basketball
-
Expected a loss tonight but not a blowout
-
Because on OC is an unimaginative, timid loser
This team has other issues, but this is by far and away the biggest one. Things will obviously not get better until he is removed.
-
Jesus our pass defense is poor
-
why do our defensive backs always fall down????
-
Coaching staff has managed to coach the confidence out of the team.
-
Man we suck
-
They have an open receiver (by at least five yards) on every pass play. Thank God the QB isn't seeing them.
-
If they could catch it would be 21-0
-
But it's just one score and things can change fast in college football at this level.
-

But guys it can’t be the coaches fault for squandering all this talent on hot garbage play calls….”PLAYER. LED. TEAM….and they tell us every opportunity they get.
-
This is not fun
-
Man we stink
-
Can we get a new secondary coach, too.
-
I am headed to the farm to fill that abandoned well in ASAP that I found the Sunday after the KU game.

this is going to be incredibly ugly.... if Avery can't play get the backup in there.... can't be worse...
-

Well he saw him this time
-
But it's just one score and things can change fast in college football at this level.
very true, it quickly becomes a two touchdown game
-
I’m looking forward to some 1-yard passes behind the line of scrimmage on this next drive.
-
This is tough to watch.
-
I’m looking forward to some 1-yard passes behind the line of scrimmage on this next drive.
But first let’s call a timeout to decide which side to throw it
-
Surely Giddens between the tackles will move the chains this drive, right?
-
ASU has the differential they need to keep us out of reach the rest of the game
-
I don't think I remember a KSU team that gets worse each week like this. Without injuries. Why did we decide to suck?
-
If they can keep getting 3-5 yards a run, we're dead on these play action plays. We're not good enough to cover if we take a false step.
-

I’m looking forward to some 1-yard passes behind the line of scrimmage on this next drive.
These two posts perfectly illustrate why defenses can tee off on the cats offense. The whole stadium and tv audience knows what’s coming

No way he survives.

I don't know what's to blame, but the offense looks horribly lost :frown:

It's very simple. Fire Conner Riley

o for gods sake

I'm done

You should have left sooner
-
boo this team off the field....
-
On boy. We're getting run at home. Defeensee looks every bit ass bad as the offense.
-
I'm leaving at halftime and not coming back in. Just going to drink in the parking lot
Are those boos I’m hearing over the broadcast?
-
Lol, we suck
-
Thought we were gonna get back in this but no. ASU sucks and we look like we just started playing football. Need more booze
-
I guess this is what happens when your secondary transfers.
-
This is a bad football team. Can't mince words here.
-
I see no hope.
-
I'm leaving at halftime and not coming back in. Just going to drink in the parking lot

Yes, the stadium is actively booing the team
-
I guess this is what happens when your secondary transfers.
I mean I think the offense has maybe been worse? It's a tight race.
-
This is a bad football team. Can't mince words here.
Klieman looks like he doesn't have much left in the tank
-
that's right... run right into a loaded defensive box....
-
omg...feel so much for cephas damn
-
lol...how stupid
-
Unreal
-
i think we are the new texas but the bad verison. good players but soft
-
i think we are the new texas but the bad verison. good players but soft
I'm not sure we have good players outside of Avery and DJamer
-
We stink.
-
Maybe some decent TEs
-
We stink like microwaved dog crap.
-
“that was a really good call dialed up by Colin Klein”…. Moron. So ironic….

maybe i'm still drinking the kso koolaid.
5 nfl dbs
-
One Peggy Po of being down 21 is that we can throw Riley and the offensive coaches garbage gameplan out the window.
-
LOL

these announcers sucks
-
28-0 coming right up.
-
Just, end it.
-
The highlight reel for this game requires Benny Hill music.
-
We're already fortunate it's not 35-0
-
How much money did Klieman cost Avery Johnson?
-
time to reevaluate my long time favorite pass-time(s)
-
Word of warning to any elite athletes, KSU will tank your NFL chances
-
" A total system failure" lol :frown:
-
I'm angry posting stupid crap, but damn
-
Anyone want to play Fortnite?
-
The highlight reel for this game requires Benny Hill music.
We may need Gill's video man to produce a few highlights vids starting with this game. :Yuck:
-
Boo everything.
-
This makes the complaining about the basketball team vs LSU seem pretty silly.
-
Blame whatever on this thing, but there's no getting around it - when you lose to one of the worst teams in the league, have a bye week, and then come out as flat as we have in this game - there is a culture issue on this team.
And that's rich considering that's something Klieman talks about all the time.
-
So how many quarters since we scored?
-
Our players don't seem to understand where the first down line is. Our wr catches the ball two yards behind the line to gain and signal first down, and our defense lets the runner get two yards across the line and signal forth down....
-
Fire.
Conner.
Riley.
-
Worst part about this season is I really bought into the hype at the start of the year. Painful to see a team get worse as the season progresses.
-
What's good on Netflix right now?

Signaling a first down llooks stupid base case when you’re getting blanked by three scores at home.

Game not technically over but lord they gotta completely turn it around. Atrocious
-
Our players don't seem to understand where the first down line is. Our wr catches the ball two yards behind the line to gain and signal first down, and our defense lets the runner get two yards across the line and signal forth down....
The defense has been a significantly bigger disappointment to me. Offense has been hindered by some flukey plays (including the stupid ineligible man 4 yards downfield), plus obviously some subpar playcalling.
-
This feels like the game that could submarine Kleiman's tenure.
-

Love the Conchords, will try.
-

He is getting paid far more than Coleman Hawkins.
-
This feels like the game that could submarine Kleiman's tenure.
I’m optimistic it forces a OC change. If we keep our key players in the offseason I think we’re fine to make a run for it next year with Kleiman. His seat is a long way from hot IMO.
-
Yeah. But if I'm Avery I might look around. Not gonna look very attractive to top transfers. And the slide would begin.

Apart from pride.... Would you put it out there to get the ball back for these play calls? This execution?

Lolz

No Riley in Riley.

Losing Avery would be devastating, but I also doubt anyone values him more than we do right now. He’s clearly talented but hasn’t put anything on the field yet that would convince a contender that he could lead their program to a deep playoff run.
-
Terrence Newman for DC. Who's with me?
-
desmond howard was right all along
-
Why would the defense play to get the ball back for this offense?

Things can't be anything but piss poor footwork and by extension coaching.

Help us CK7, you’re our only hope

Gotta score or it's over
-
They will probably let us score on their 2nd team late in the 4th

anothr rough ridin' defensive back FALLING DOWN...
To be fair, he was open anyway

Still a 3 score game!

Think we can still win a title?

-
why not just go for the 1st down instead of a low percentage pass...
-
Snyder 3.0?
-
that would require out-of-the-box thinking, and Riley is all about battering the box.
-
Good news: after getting fired by UTEP, Dana Dimel is an offensive assistant at Illinois and would absolutely be available to call all sorts of lovely QB runs for AJ next year...
-
These announcers, lol, look Klieman wants the clock to run too. We're not trying to win this game anymore.
-
WE NEED 50cc’s OF ADAM HELM, STAT

What timing my post has

that worked well....

Lol
-
I did not like that 2 pt conversion call. Run that pop pass play
-
Going to need a defensive or ST score to get it close.
-
There's no way they don't get this third and long
-
That was a great play by ASU’s QB.
-
that's a quarterback!
-
Third and long, go for another FIRST DOWN.
-
Our defense is so rough ridin' slow. So God damn slow.
Liepold should be fired for losing to us.
-
I don't think I even hated the 2015 team this much.
-
That was a great play by ASU’s QB.
Yeah
-
That was a great play by ASU’s QB.
Yeah
It was fine. Their WR should not have been that open after 3 seconds.
-
We have a free untouched rusher at the QB and he still has enough time to make that pass.
So
rough ridin'
Slow
-
That was a great play by ASU’s QB.
Yeah
It was fine. Their WR should not have been that open after 3 seconds.
No. A player with even average speed breaks that play.
-
Yeah if you're 90%+ on third down you should go for it

-
Lol if they fake it here

ASU CHONGS thinks they'll get this! Is he right?

(I think he's going to be wrong!)

that's a good quarterback...
That's what a 4 star second year QB with good coaching can look like
-
We just ran out of time
-
I am surprised, still a sucky game but clawing it to make it be interesting is positive after that awful first half.
Score here somewhat quickly, oh boy
-
Is Giddens hurt?

We just ran out of time
Yeah, mumped around too long

Too bad we messed up that first half FG

really needed the points before half time

It was pretty shocking
-
I mean if your OC calls that run play right there, you overrule him and fire him on the spot. That call is on Klieman.
-
Avery missing Spivey for that TD. The WTF run play on 2nd down. That was some real bad football.
-
It has to be a mental at this point . . . like a pitcher that can't throw to first base
-
That run might be the dumbest call I've ever seen in my life

4D chess Kleiman allowed it to happen so we could get a new OC for next year.
-
If Klieman doesn't make some personnel changes after this game, he needs to be fired for negligence.

It could be 24-20. And a shot. And now it's done
Two fg's effed up. Maybe a special teams coach is needed.

The defense came to play (despite its deficiencies - particularly in the secondary).
The problem with this team is on the offensive side of the ball (and the inability to execute a snap from the long snapper).
Whether that's on Riley, Klieman, the other coaches - whatever. If this team plays even competently on the offensive side of the ball, we win this game (and the game against Houston too).
-
wide open
-
Let's run DJamer between the tackles. They'll never see that coming.
-
This is like watching an Alex Smith drive. Spivey looks like player. Send him deep.

Houston didn't throw an incomplete pass all game. The defense is very bad.

My hope is this makes coaches realize Avery is good and shouldn't do touch passes in the backfield all game

Yeah, desperation plays end that way not mad at that. Would've looked better score wise
-
End of the day. Don't piss an entire half away being stupid
-
Getting a TD there could have been a great moral victory
-
Maybe it's time for a change for Kansas State football. How high up? I guess that's up to Klieman.

Agree, this is on the offense. Defense had a rough first half, but field position, offensive turnovers, and three and outs played into that
-
Klieman: We need to run Avery more.
Riley: [pulls out playbook titled "worst rough ridin' QB runs in history"]

I agree with this take.
Although to be fair we had two shitty FG snaps and 1 BS man downfield call. So arguably offense also did enough.
-
Avery should have audibled out of the DJamer run and dared Riley to do something about it.
-
Come on guys. ASU played very conservative in the second half after they turned it over. There's no doubt they could have scored another TD if they needed to.
Our defense is NOT good.
-

Oh man when was the last time that happened?
I bet it probably happened a time or two between 04-08. Rough 5 year stretch
-
The coaching staff allowing a minute + to melt off the clock by substituting on the second to last drive was also a brilliant strategy.

Thank God we're playing in the shitty ass big 12 otherwise we'd have a losing record this year.
-
I remember my concern with the Riley hire and that was even before Tech fans warned us. I was hoping for some young, imaginative talent to make the most of AJ, but should have known CK wouldn't be open to innovation.
-

Yep, that was sad hurry up offense on display, and Avery going down in bounds short of the first down also cost another ~ 30 seconds
-
I can forgive AJ as a first-year starter, but the OC effing up his own hurry up is just offensive.
-

If Riley gets demoted, can he still coach the O line or is it better to start over?
-

No. The oline is particularly bad.

Houston didn't throw an incomplete pass all game. The defense is very bad.
Our offense - and AJs poor INTs - are what put the defense in bad positions.
Is our defense a top 10 unit? Nope.
But, the problems with effort, scheme, playcalling, etc. are largely more on the offense vs. the defense.
-
IMO Riley has a better track record than Wells but I wouldn't be sad if both left
-
If Riley gets demoted, can he still coach the O line or is it better to start over?
No. The oline is particularly bad.
Charlie Dickey may be looking for a job soon. Hell, bring Joe Bob as well. Can’t be any worse.
-
We leave receivers wide open on every single pass play. Every single one. Our defense is only effective when the other team has a shitty QB.

Sophomore slump. This is a building year, I finally excepted it tonight. I really didn't want to, but the proof is on film. Name a KSU quarterback that didn't have growing pains.
He is also nursing an injury, he can't juke like be could before CU. The straight up the gut run was the only time we saw his speed flash. I think the last interception was also tied to this injury, if you watch his torso as he tries to throw on the run.

I've acknowledgeed this as well. He's ahead of Roberson as a sophomore and way far ahead of Howard. Bishop and Beasley were good as first-year starters, but they were juniors.

Avery is NOT the problem

It goes beyond play calling, tho that's bad. The offensive scheme is straight backed and lacks the creative touch Avery's talents demands.

We beat KU....   (ftp://:lol:  )
I guess I'm content with a coach that wins 7-9 games a year even when we should do better? eff it.

Anyone else pickup on Klieman dealing with some very bad personal/family health news? His weekly press conference on Monday he hinted at it and he elluded to it again after the game. Something is troubling him and it sucks. Didn't he have a dizzy spell a few games ago? I hope he is going to be OK.

Yes. Word is he’s been going through some stuff for awhile. Fairly serious. Not like Bill Self’s heart territory, but not fun. Not sure what the deal is.
Would make some sense though, because the culture/energy on this team seems mumped lately.
We need a new OC next year and new offensive scheme. Anyone in this thread saying otherwise is nuts. Watching Avery out there looking like he’s trying to solve a calculus equation before he decides what to do on every play is painful. His instincts seem coached out of him, injury or not. And btw, if he’s that injured, how ‘bout let him heal up. I’d recommend people be more pissed. This is ridiculous.
Haven’t posted on this board forever, glad it’s still around! Cheers

Welcome back, and great post.
I’m personally just counting the days until Klein returns to lead us to the promised land.

Klieman's postgame was pretty revealing - seems like he's at a loss for what's happened the last two games. He does the right thing in accepting blame (I need to be better, etc), but really seems like he doesn't know where to go from here.

This offense has him standing flat footed in the pocket looking down 1 of 2 reads. And often (IMO) it’s a single read where the ball has to get out on the 10 yard slant or dig. To small WR’s. I didn’t see him play in HS so I can’t comment on how well he threw. But in this offense he’s missed open receivers for big plays a dozen times. AJ is not a great thrower on the run that I’ve seen and maybe that in part due to his being injured. On the run he sails a lot of throws. It’s correctable, but I don’t know if this OC is a big help.
Spivey played really well yesterday and I’m glad he finally made a few catches. That fade wasn’t thrown particularly well, but 6’4” 230 is the guy to go get it. He’d also be a great option on the slants this OC seems so in love with.

Yes, these revelations provide a lot of context, and would seem to indicate that Riley/Wells and Klanderman are being allowed towork on their own direction rather than under a comprehensive framework of fully involved head coach. Failing upwards, so to speak. Just all speculation, though.

I would not be surprised, at this point.

Have to think Klein would be at or near the top of the list

Any word on why Keagan Johnson and Jason Jackson didn’t play?

I think Avery is still hurt from CU game

It's cause he didn't get to 200 lbs

I think Avery is still hurt from CU game
There was a play that I think was supposed to be a run and Avery was running right and then tried to plant/cutback upfield and he kind of crumbled. During the game I though he may have even had an injury on the play. I'll have to find it on tape
-
Come on guys. ASU played very conservative in the second half after they turned it over. There's no doubt they could have scored another TD if they needed to.
Our defense is NOT good.
I don't know what to kick my dog about first: Missing assignments, or slow players.
-
Should just not kick your dog imo

My conspiracy theory is that those closest to Klieman knew he wasn't going to be coaching much longer. Possibly related to whatever concerns he's alluded to after the last two games. And Klein was told to go get a year or two of experience somewhere else so he could come back as HC. Granted, I think something happened in the past month or so to speed up whatever timeline they were planning on.

they say it's something to do with a close friend but not family? the reaction to this almost seems like on the level of a death of a family member with how much this has affected him. strange stuff.
think it could be something with his health, kind of in line with what stevesie says

Whatever it is (as sad/tragic as it might be), the fact that the rest of the coaches couldn't hold this thing together is a pretty damning indictment about their capabilities
