Woof. Those missed tackles. Jeez.

Just horrendous tackling the whole drive. Like weird bad.

Pretty good flop by Grimm ).
The next play, KU tackle grabs Purnells face mask and then pancakes him 5 yards out of bounds - no call.
-
Where was the late hit on that ku lineman driving our guy into the turf 8 yards out of bounds?
-
We gotta keep scoring at high clip. No FGs, we need TDs. It might take 40 to win today.

Really effing stupid to throw on third down there while having all 3 timeouts

This is really their Super Bowl

We really are playing some shitass defense tonight, right?
-
That was a friendly spot

LOL nice pick!

Some points here would be really nice

Feel ok. JD playing lights out so hopefully that INT spooked him. They obviously aren’t going to do it, but I’d run AJ a bit here or at least tell him to take off if it’s there. Almost seems like an away game for some reason. Let me know if you guys need any more of my random opinions.

Seconds before that Sigle interception (immediately before the play), Wyatt said something like "This would be a great time to get a turnover." I laughed at the absurdity at the time but now believe Wyatt may have divine powers.
-
These ESPN talking heads are so rough ridin' against KSU that it makes it hard to watch the game. Fox, BTW is enjoyable and makes the game fun to watch.
-
SF I would like all the opinions plz

I'm real worried about the second half. If I've learned one thing about the KU Jayhawks this year watching their games, is they're a second half team.

-
They're basically daring us to beat them with AJ throwing the ball.
Their linebackers are awful, so if we mix in some more play action, we should have plenty of big play opportunities and then can run DJamer to close out the game.
Defensively, we just need to get to Daniel's a few times and I think he'll start pressing (like he did on that throw at the end of the half).
-
It's time for some half time adjustments :ksu:
-
Who is the guy wearing a suit way too big for him on the halftime show? He always says negative things about the Cats.

I hope the defense pressures the hell out of JD to a point where he gets jumpy and has to leave the game. It's all downhill after that.

Is Klieman suffering through a cold? Matt Wolters keeps saying that he feels terrible and even looked like he was about to fall over. I can only assume that he's sick. Surely they'd be way more worried otherwise and take him off the field.

Wyatt is a pretty devout Wiccan, so that makes sense.

KU does a ton of holding. Would love them to call any of it.

Might be sick, but still well enough to use the slow substitution trick to cost KU a timeout
-
I think it's pretty obvious that lance has spent more than 50% of their practice time on the ksu cats super bowl. Literally the only game that the squawk faithful cares about

Sack would be cool.

Damn, just can't stop them on third down, KU is 6-7 on third down

Not good D.

It wouldn't be a showdown without some Jayhawk touchdowns, guys. Just try to keep that in mind. Wouldn't be very sportsmanlike to execute a show up on our in-state buds. It's our responsibility as purveyors of abundance to help nurse their program back from its prolonged near-death state.
-
I'm convinced they have us marked for their supper bowl. After the TD they panned over KU's band. I don't remember them bringing the full band in a while. I didn't think they could afford it.

This Avery Johnson kid has some potential.

Offense going to have to win this game the way the defense is playing.
Payne's ass should be benched foe that effort on the last KU TD (unfortunately, he won't because we're awful at the safety spot except for Sigle)
-

Yeah ISU last year was weird and flukey and we are just getting beat tonight. We still might win but the games are nothing alike.

For 3 quarters I was sitting on the couch, mostly cross legged (right over left, switching occasionally). At the beginning of the 4th quarter I abandoned the leg crossing and scooted to the edge of the couch. When we failed to convert that 4th and whatever I went to the bathroom (pee) and then picked a spot to stand and I did not move from that spot until the clock struck 0:00
Coincidence? Call me a seasoned detective but I don't believe in coincidences

WTF??? I was in the stadium for the entire game and no one clapped for those losers. We tried to give them the game and they could take the win on a silver platter.
-
Absolutely the best way to win lmfao
Almost. Winning on a last-second disputed play that lights up Light pole like a red, red lollypop would be better.
-
The ESPN recap reads as though it was written by their announcers:
Kansas dominated the game for long stretches but couldn't overcome itself. Daniels, who was plagued by turnovers early in the season, had two more, and the Jayhawks missed a PAT among their many special teams blunders.
Mind you, we had more points, yards and won time of possession. Oh well.

Seems pretty fair

The only thing that stopped us - was us and the ridiculous play calling sequences.
A healthy Avery and we got 500 yards plus and win by 17 plus.
The defense on the other hand was unrecognizable in the 4th qtr compared to first 3. Very weird but still very fun.

My overall take was ku made more mistakes, we failed to capitalize on any of them (for the most part).
Ku balled out but ultimately they shot themselves more that we did. I truly thought our TD that led to their 1 yard line bonehead catch on the kickoff that led to the safety that also got us a TD on the next drive was going to break ku and it didn't. Truly impressive.
Our 3rd down defense was atrocious, but again credit to ku for converting.
The Avery fumble after Edwards long run I think also was the difference in us again not taking adr, as was getting the ball twice at near midfield and only having the game winning fg be the only points (obv big but like, that drive was very poor).
It felt like we were playing scares/not to lose, and ku was definitely playing to win but once Daniels was finally being pressured and had to play hero ball his faults came out.
Glad to have won, glad it's over too though. Gotta clean a lot up.

[/b]
Our 3rd down defense was atrocious, but again credit to ku for converting.

That would have ended a lot of recent Sunflower Showdowns. The play on that KO was incredibly boneheaded.

But that's KU football. Give up 3 free points (safety + missed PAT) and lose by 2.

Just arrived home from the game. What a nasty bunch of hillbillies that show up at KSU games. I sat by the KU band and saw one of the band members with a bloody nose. I do not know how he got the bloody nose but have a good idea. Oh and of course a round of "hey gayhawk" every chance they would get. My last time going to manhattan

I can handle some verbal abuse but when you start hitting a 19 year old band member, that's some kind of low

I'll stop after this but the KSU player waving the wheat right in front of the KU bench when he knew they had it won was uncalled for

It’s always the same salty bitching every time they lose.

I watched one of KU's games and I could hear the stewed section yelling "eff K-State" for some reason. Sorry asses can't get their loser ship out of their minds.

Incredible snippet of prose in this Dillon's recap from D. Scott. Does he have an editor?
Also, the more I think about it, the less I like our Dillon's streak hinging on somebody making a 51yd FG. We need to be up by 4 TDs with the thing totally salted away by 4Q.

Where does the baseball go? And where does it sail? And where does it fall, this imaginary baseball that Chris Tennant hits with his imaginary bat seconds after drilling a game-winning field goal at LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium. There's a boy. A ball. A dream. Except the boy is all grown up now. He's a 6-foot-5, 226-pound field goal machine from Shawnee, Kansas, a 21-year-old special teams leader for the Kansas State Wildcats, and he has just launched an imaginary baseball over the celebratory fireworks and high above the crowd of 52,074 cheering so loudly that it vibrates the metal railings in the stands. We can only assume his mighty right-handed swing was a grand slam blast, like in the World Series, where dreams also come true, but, alas, this is no dream, the imaginary baseball bat swing celebration by Tennant was a mere sidebar to the biting reality that exists here in this moment, and that shouldn't be taken lightly.
There's 1 minute, 42 seconds left on the clock. It's the fourth quarter. Kansas leads No. 16 K-State, 27-26. It's just before 11 p.m. The game that has stretched more than 3 ½ hours has been an off-the-rails joyride of in-state passion, a Dillons Sunflower Showdown for the ages, so much pride, so many hoarse voices, so many songs by the K-State and KU marching bands, an array of hair-pulling moments awash in purple and white, blue and red, as school colors and visions begin to blur. When will it end? And how will it end? Yes, the game deserves a hero.

That was a fun read from D. Scott. However, I agree that these last two games have gotten way too close for comfort.
I'm only 1/4 of the way through the meltdown and game threads on the phog, but the tears are oh so delicious. They are really upset over there and dogging on anything they can think up; our stadium, our fans, the refs, vandalized vehicles, their coaches, the kickoff time... and there's definitely a lot of talk about SA, animals, and phallic objects in the discussion. I'm a little concerned for some of our brethren.

i think i could pretty comfortably bet my life that exactly none of these purported incidents of violence and vandalism actually happened in real life. Best case scenario is one of them rock em chalk em rayhawks drove an unwashed vehicle to town and someone used their finger to draw a dong with balls (b/c i know i personally did that to several cars with the DG sticker on the tag)

Lol my watch just yelled at me for a high heart rate
I was fairly controlled in the stands during the game, but after it ended my hands were shaking from the adrenaline dump. Woof! Hell of an ending.

This is the correct answer.
We're at Dead Sea levels of salt 16 years in
There's still room to grow, the Dead Sea is "only" the 4th saltiest body of water in the world.

Maybe someone could answer this question: Who died in the "Dead Sea"? Also, I wonder who dumped all that salt in the water.

*Inclusive of bodies of water on sonofdaxjones. The saltiest, exclusive of such other bodies.

Has there ever been a team that has lost more close games in such soul-crushing fashion? Poor lil bro.
The clown show to the north, perhaps?
At the conclusion of the 2023 season, Nebraska had lost 19 games by single digits over the course of the previous 3 seasons, a Division I NCAA Record.
The 2021 Nebraska Cornhuskers were the first team in Division I history to lose nine games by single digits.
Something to aspire to, I guess.

Cool/special moment for me was watching Tennant’s kick in mid-air from the West side and hearing the roar from the end zone seating start b/c people saw that it was right down the middle and had the distance.

Yeah, I sat in section 13, (adjacent to 14/15 that have the best view). From 13 you can usually tell if it's going to be close, and rely on the section next to you, so you feel them react, you react, and it ripples out. You can generally hear/feel you cheering and look out and watch the rest of stadium realize what you already know,.

I think this sort of thing happens with big KO returns as well. Best example I remember experiencing live was when Tyler Lockett housed a KO return during a night game against OSU in 2012. The roar just continued to build as more and more fans could see what was happening.

that was a fun time to be a fan. if memory serves, we were less worried about whether or not oSu would be a challenge and were more concerned about what garbage uni combo oSu was going to wear, as we are a national brand and these things matter for "eyeball test" reasons. what a time to be alive.

and we had Panjakes Production videos. I don't think anyone is doing anything like this anymore.

Sat in section 15 which sucks 98% of the time, but getting to see a safety and game winning FG from that endzone ended up being more than worth it.

I'm in Section 8 (west side, not housing, obv.) and I observed this as well. I could quickly tell it had the distance but could not at all determine if it was accurate. Hearing the roar 'wave' across the stadium was pretty cool indeed.

And now it looks like our QB headset isn't working and we're signaling in plays
We signal in every play, all season. We don't use the comms for that.
