So the Caitlin Clark discourse is wild and sad and very political/race-based.
I saw this highlight this morning.
https://twitter.com/IowaBOP/status/1800324904983712060
Like, it's a legitimate foul call, but the player making the foul mocked the head jerk. No big deal, right?
Well....

And really just a bunch of awful blue check replies

It also got spicy when she was left off the Olympic team this weekend. Yikes

I don’t like CC, because she’s a whining flopper. That video of her faking an injury during a court storming was very telling, IMO.
I think she is very used to getting calls and now she isn’t and she can’t deal with it.

All totally valid, plus she's playing much better players now! Personally I have zero beef with Caitlin, I have beef with the gross people who are making her the face of white victimization

Those are opinions and observations (and I'm being far too kind), not definitions

ok

Probably a both/and situation w/ lots of nuance tbh.

My opinion of her is basically both of these combined.
She's a pretty good ball player, she definitely also got a lot of calls against lower level players and is struggling to adjust a bit against new competition, and also imo she is being I think targeted a bit by the league because of all the fame she's gotten, justified or not. The media (and all the talking head ilk) have a supreme weird fascination with her. I think any hyped rookie entering any professional setting is going to wanted to "put in their place" by the veterans of the league. It's just normal imo. It's just everyone wants to of course overly read into all of it and make it into a race thing, which is gross, or make it into a gender thing, which is also gross, or make it into a LQBT thing, which is also gross. So of course she's going to garner or be a touch stone to all the culture warriors out there.

Clay Travis breathlessly watching the WNBA for a perceived slight is amazing in and of itself

Is she still drawing big crowds?

This is so stupid

The most stupid and   about this is how triggered #blueanon gets when people make comments on what's going on right in front of their eyes while listening to certain players and commentators rage out about CC existing.
This thread is absolute pinnacle white guilt cRusty and it's fantastic.
-
What do you think is going on right in front of their (our?) eyes?
-
The raging out about CC.
Some of those other players are big mad for some weird reason. It's very very
-
I like her and wish her luck.

same, she's a great player and great for the game

The purposefully obtuse role on this board is currently played by another actor, cRusty. Sorry, parts taken :frown:

I have zero clue how well cc is playing professionally.
But it was stupid to put Christian Laettner on the dream team because he was great in college.
If she’s not currently one of the best then no problem leaving her off.
Especially if the other girls don’t feel like she’s earned it.

I liked her response about how she's cool with it because she went straight from the NCAA run to playing professionally, and she's looking forward to some time off. I would feel the same way.
-
CC isn't playing the victim game and that's nice.
-
Agree, I thought she answered extremely well.
Even just saying that it gives her something to strive for yada yada.

All you need to know is the current #2 scorer in the league didn't make the team and all the snow roaches crying on social media and conservative media have no idea who she is. There are 5 Americans who average more PPG than Clark who didn't get selected. I actually hope she gets selected as an alternate, there are a couple of players on the roster who are injured, then doesn't play so all these shitheads can whine about that too.

Pretty interesting watch and goes in to enough detail to be interesting and a little more than a high level overview. I've been wanting to get my daughter's in to watching Clark highlights because she seems like a legit player and person. I didn't realize that she has purposefully avoided addressing the B's coming at her. Makes me like her more. Worth the watch to see how the league has made her the ******* child of the WNBA,all because she won't prostrate herself at the feet of blacks and gays.

OK going to watch this
lmao @ the conspiracy theory music.
Also "she's the most popular athlete to turn pro since Conor McGregor in '08. It's a bold statement...." What???
-
ok it just got boring as hell after they said people were mad because she wasn't giving Paige Beucker's espy speech
although jason whitlock saying joining the wnba is more difficult for caitlin clark than it was for Jackie Robinson to integrate baseball was pretty great
-
Yeah the Whitlock part is pretty wild lol

Laettner was on it because they wanted 1 college player from the previous system on the first team with pros. They didn’t say “Laettner was so good in college we should add him.” They decided to pick 1 college player, then picked Laettner for that spot. (It was also probably some cover because there were 12 very likely NBA player that should have been on the team, but adding a college player cut it to 11 & allowed them to keep off Isiah Thomas.)
-
Yeah Laettner was there because he was an amateur

I think there is a an army of bots on social media trying to use Caitlin Clark stuff to stoke the flames of civil war in the US. It is incredibly messed up.
I IRL appreciated this article (sorry if it is stuck behind a paywall at NYT):
