Fact.
-
Agree Brad, this may be that last time we play them outside of a bowl game. :lynchmob:
-
Yeah, they are never going to give us a home and home.
-
With the Bedlam winner looking to have a clear shot to a spot in the CG, we need to win out, for sure.
-
We will face them in like the Alamo bowl every 3 years
-
+5 which is close to what I was thinking it might be. KU gets two at Iowa St.
-
theyve seemed to have our number lately
-
Just means we’re due
-
eff yeah Brad! I'll be at the game fist pumping my face off!

10/10 agree.

well said kcnut
-
Prices are dropping. Might just go watch the mighty Wildcats in person.
-
It was so satisfying sending A&M and Missouri out of the Big 12 with L's in 2011. Here's to doing it again with OU and UT! :emawkid:
-

Our tickets were like ~$200 a piece when I bought them on Saturday. We are in the corner like 40 rows up or something.
-
eff yeah Brad! I'll be at the game fist pumping my face off!
Same!
When you coming down and what’s tailgate/pregame plans? Who else is coming? I’ll be with a group of like 7 and we are trying to figure out what we are doing
-
I'm still livid that we were better than them the last two times we've met and found ways to lose.
-
I still have PTSD from the 2021 @ UT game
-

probably no tailgate, just get to game depending on what we get into Friday night. Grab a drink close to the stadium if we get time, we're staying closer to the airport. Nobody on here is coming with me, bunch of couples. Friday night we have reservations at Lamberts as of now.
-
I still have PTSD from the 2021 @ UT game
Oh my rough ridin' God :curse: somewhere messingham is playing NCAA football and still calling deuce in the wildcat every single 3rd & 4th and short
-
brad gets it™
-
I'll be at the pub with my son eating cheese-curds and brauts (I live in Wisconsin now), watching UT getting oUTed as being fake and gay.

Which part, and which pub? Once upon a time I lived off of North avenue in Wauwatosa and favored Leff’s and Walter’s on North.

I live in Appleton. There's a decent sports pub that opens at 11AM on Saturday on Northland Ave.

Speaking of bars and junk, for the game this past weekend most of the bars in Aggieville didn't even open until like 10:30, like, what the eff?

The Lou was open at 8:45. Why anyone would want to go anywhere else is beyond me.

I have apparently managed to suppress the memory of this game and I have no intention of looking into it any further and re-living the trauma
-
The game got mess fired so I guess in some way it was good.

100%. Getting Mess fired was the only good thing to come from it, and look what happened!

Probably go to that k-state alumni bar pre-game. I typically am not a fan of the alumni association crowd of people but bar looks pretty good. https://www.easytigerusa.com/location/east/

Easy Tiger is just ok. Weather permitting, could be a good time. That's a new location to me. Seems there used to be a bougie Mexican place at that property. There's a really good ramen spot around the corner.
Bonus: it's across the street from the Texas State Cemetery, in case you want to peep some graves.

I would drink water from Ron's tropical resort Desire's public hot tub for a Cats win.
-
It's Friday night and there's been no talk of Gus doing our game, pretty disappointing, guys.
I can't wait to hear what nickname he has for the cats star who will breakout.
A simple but loud and sharp BIG WILL HOWARD, DOES IT AGAIN!!!
or
LOOK OUT FOR SUNSHINE AVERY JOHNSON, THIS KID IS FOR REAL!!!
or
DJamer GIDDENS SPIN ANOTHER RECORD, WOW!!!
maybe
TRE-SHAWN WARD HE'S GOT WHEELS!!!
this one would be fun
PHILLIP BROOKS, LOOK AT THE LITTLE GUY GO, HAHA!!!
-
Lets goooooooo
-
I just got to Easy Tiger so any CATS that get here ping me! Go Cats!
-
I find this big and rich segment to be real dumb. Just real dumb.
-
It's in the bad, guys.
-
Why is the Lincoln continental spokesperson on Fox talking crap?
-
Let's GO!!!
-
Man Payne should have been able to centerfield that deep ball
-
Well, it's a stop.
-
Please god play Avery
-
They're going to come for Howard because he has concrete feet. Going to have use Avery.
-
Oof
-
obvious push off...
-
That's what I was afraid of, our weak ass secondary.
-
There is a significant talent issue here. We punch above our weight but this might be too much to overcome.
-
Man those deep balls are going to be open all day and unlike the last few weeks this QB can hit them. We've gotta adjust.
-
So they can dance around like a clown and no call. Our guy puts his thumbs up/down and we get unsportman like conduct. What a bunch of crap.
-
Are these talking heads going to slobber all over Texas during this game?
-
dumb crap call...
-
Wtf was that 3rd down play call Klein
-
We should probably use Avery if we’re not going to throw the ball anyway.
-
Oof
-
This ain't a great start
-
Howard's pocket awareness is not good.
-
Time to let Avery sling it and get ready for next year
-
OL needs to step the eff up and quit being pussies.
-
Howard needs to sit a spell. He's playing like he did against OSU, lost.
-
Just end this
-
It's in the bad, guys.
Oh no! We suck again!
-
Well crap.
-
Come on man
-
That's two potential turnovers we've squandered
-
Would have been a really tough catch
-
Howard needs to sit a spell. He's playing like he did against OSU, lost.
True, but it's not going to matter with our secondary allowing them to throw all over the field at will.
They're selling out to stop the run and we don't have the ability to throw. Additionally, our D isn't good enough to slow them down to the point that we stay in the game.
-
we aren't going to run up the middle on these guys...
-
we aren't going to run up the middle on these guys...
We’re sure gunna try
-
If they are going to play the zip, they need to let him do more than hand it off.
-
"... from Wichita Falls" :bang:
-
brilliant call Klein
-
We’re already packing it in with that play call
-
Doesn't feel like we're even trying
-
We have them where we want them. They'll start getting lazy and complacent soon.
-
Getting whipped on both sides of the ball.
-
This is going to get uuuugly
-
this is going to be an epic schmear....
-
Shaping up to be a 3rd straight snoozer for the cats
-
JFC. Don't know how long I'm going to stay with this.
-
Absolutely a track meet. Oh well, we aren't there. Pathetic
-
Playing Texas makes me realize we will never be competitive for a natty. Our shitty recruiting becomes too much of a gap to close if the other team isn't having an off day
-
Guys, the only chance we had is their backup being shitty and he is not shitty enough
-
Entirely possible we don’t snap the ball from Texas territory
-
In hindsight it would have been a good idea to put some 1-15 yard passes in the playbook.
-

Let’s not pretend that we would have any chance if we had done so.
-
Guys, the only chance we had is their backup being shitty and he is not shitty enough
It's still surprising how bad we look
-
I think we need to complete a pass to win.
-
if klieman had a shred of dignity he would resign at halftime
-
I think the winning ship has passed
-
It's "play for dignity" time
-
Guys, the only chance we had is their backup being shitty and he is not shitty enough
It's still surprising how bad we look
It's not that K-State is bad. Texas is actually good this year. OU sucks, so it's kind of weird that they beat UT.
-
Guys, the only chance we had is their backup being shitty and he is not shitty enough
It's still surprising how bad we look
I’m surprised at how bad our offense has looked
-
I'm hoping we get at least 2 1/2 yards on this first play.
-
Honestly, play for the future. Just give Avery the rest of the snaps this game.
-
Honestly, play for the future. Just give Avery the rest of the snaps this game.
Seriously, this. Howard is too slow to get it done. They're just going to bring pressure for the rest of the game.
Also, the talent disparity is huge. Our lack of recruiting is showing again.
-
I'm hoping we get at least 2 1/2 yards on this first play.
I will continue to dream big.
-
I just don't understand how the OL is this bad
-
Any chance of a weather delay?
-
We are terrible.
Our offense won't break 50 yards this half.
-
I just don't understand how the OL is this bad
Having an overhyped oline is practically a K-State tradition. People confuse experience with talent, which isn't always the case.
-
this team is an embarrassment to the 1978 cats team that went 0-10
-
I just don't understand how the OL is this bad

Yes but also they have been legitimately good much of the year
-
historically, this may be the least talented squad we’ve ever had
-
Texas is toying with us. They've also turned this game into practice.
-
giddens- most overrated rb ever
-
I'm hoping we get at least 2 1/2 yards on this first play.
I will continue to dream big.
Please run it up the middle for two yards!! :excited: (ftp://:excited:)

Yes but also they have been legitimately good much of the year
We haven’t played anyone good this year. I mean, Texas looked clearly better than Alabama when they played.
-
dylan edwards would already have +100 yards against this porous defense
-
Brad’s fault.
-
Sark is absolutely giving the finger to Kleiman and Klein by going for it on these 4th downs.
He's absolutely in scrimmage/lets practice this for later in the season mode.
-

For sure, but still the OL play is really all that should be surprising
-
Do we see Rubley today
-
We may never cross midfield
-
Do we see Rubley today
if i’m him, i decline the invitation to play and declare my intention to transfer immediately
-
I hate this team so much right now. 3 straight 3 and outs.
I'm out guys. Going to go do something better with my time.
Do we see Rubley today
if i’m him, i decline the invitation to play and declare my intention to transfer immediately
Honestly, this isn't an unreasonable stance to take if getting on the field was important to him.
-
Offense sucks, defense sucks, special teams suck.
-
SNAPS IN TEXAS TERRITORY FORTHCOMING
-
The beef is as finished as they are going to get. Time to haul them to town.
-
Offense sucks, defense sucks, special teams suck.
If the OL could hold a block we wouldn't be in bad shape
-
should have picked that blocked punt up and scored
-
should have picked that blocked punt up and scored
That's only something winning teams do.
-
Not sure why we're abandoning the run game?
-
should have picked that blocked punt up and scored

Oh come on
-
THOSE THROWS U GUYS!!
-

... are we winning?

Dude, the cats are 6-2 and have won the last two Big 12 games bv a combined score of 81-3 . . .
yes, this game isn't going so well so far, but keep some perspective my friend
-
eff YOU texas. (Now don't give up a td before half.)
-
should have picked that blocked punt up and scored
That's only something winning teams do.
Oh come on

Lol ok
-
why not spike the ball and save the time out?
It was a first down...

I appreciate your rational perspective on the season, but I have decided to ride an emotional and financial (thanks to Draft Kings) roller coaster based upon the actions of teenagers. At this point though, I'm either going to bang Olivia Dunne or plow my car into and I-70 overpass.
-
I mean, definitely could be worse, I'm shocked really. If they score after half (big if) it's a game
-
Just looked at the Texas board, it's melting down even harder than the purple twins itt
-
If I'm KSU, I'm running this next possession right up the gut. It's apparent we've worn their "hogs" down and they won't know what's going to hit them. And fyi, I've done a ton of OC'ing in my day.
-
I wanted to score more points than we have
-
I wanted to score more points than we have
That would be nice
-
Bebee playing nose guard on a big 3rd down is certainly a new look.
-
we’re about to find out about this team’s grit
-
Murphy was starting to look pretty bad, we need to bend don’t break our asses off and wait for him to make a mistake
-
As usual, Kim carnes is correct
-
Can you imagine if we end up winning this?
-
Can you imagine if we end up winning this?
I can, can you?
-
Murphy was starting to look pretty bad, we need to bend don’t break our asses off and wait for him to make a mistake
He looked like complete dogshit in the second quarter
-
Can you imagine if we end up winning this?
I can, can you?
I think I can!
-
As dominant as they’ve looked in the trenches, and with them being able to capitalize on some big plays to the WRs, we’re in a decent position and could easily be in better shape.
Should’ve had a pick that cancels 3 pts.
The 4th & 2 score was an oops. Good call Sark.
Their QB is throwing lots of questionable balls and I think we can pick him off, maybe even a couple of times.
-
Murphy was starting to look pretty bad, we need to bend don’t break our asses off and wait for him to make a mistake

Yes
-
Very unlucky for Will
-
Welp
-
interesting scenario
-
That was unfortunate
-
Oof, that was a good play
-
Very unlucky for Will
It was a touchdown if he leads him
-
Well damn
-
Welp
-
Kinda felt like our only shot was to score on that opening drive
-
Very unlucky for Will
It was a touchdown if he leads him
once again he was getting pressured
-
big defensive hold
-
If we gave up that 3rd and 22 .... I swear to God
-
But we didn't!
-
Other than the missed tackle on the big 4th and 1 run the defense has been very solid
-
We have them right where we want them guys
-
Ugh
-
Well eff
-
good grief
-
nice Howard....
-
Interesting game plan to just turn the ball over every possession coming out of the half
-
They give us chances and we say "nah"
-
Poor Will is just unlucky
-
O-line continues to be terrible.
-
O-line continues to be terrible.
-
I mean, they’re really talented
-
Wilting Howard, 5.2 40. We have a lineman playing QB.

Just turned the TV back on after deciding to do other stuff after Klein’s idiotic 3rd down play call on our 2nd drive of the game. Not surprised by any of this, we’ve always been this team this year against competition with a pulse.
-
I mean, they’re really talented
They really are
-
They've always been really talented. They've almost never had their crap together.
-
Howard is the most frustrating QB and Kansas State history.
-
Avery time
-
Why is it Will
-
Is it time to start asking if Will is on the "take"?
-
Howard is the most frustrating QB and Kansas State history.
Imagine blaming him for this

I couldn't find the words. I'm glad you did.
-
I don't blame will. I just think might as well start getting Avery experience against legit talent rather than the scrubs he's faced off so far.
-
There’s no reason not to play Avery the entire fourth quarter imo.
-
Wouldn't have punted on 4th and 3 if they were playing to win, so I really don't see why Will is playing at this point.
-
I don't blame will. I just think might as well start getting Avery experience against legit talent rather than the scrubs he's faced off so far.
What in this game makes you think this staff has any intention of not riding with Will the rest of the way?
-
I think Avery would have absolutely been playing in the second half if he had done anything on his drives
-
It would be very cruel to throw Avery in rn
-
Jesus, Panzer
-
We’re these refs retired track and field umpires? I’ve never seen so many close false start calls. To their credit they’re not wrong and seem to be fair to both sides, it’s just a lot.
-
I think Avery would have absolutely been playing in the second half if he had done anything on his drives
You mean besides hand the ball off every play?
-
Shoulda come out with Will slinging it from the start
-
I think Avery would have absolutely been playing in the second half if he had done anything on his drives

He was making reads on those handoffs and didn't do anything on runs called for him and had a pass that should have been picked
-
In hindsight it would have been a good idea to put some 1-15 yard passes in the playbook.
Let’s not pretend that we would have any chance if we had done so.
Short to intermediate passing seemed to work well on that drive :dunno:
-
Texas stadium sounds like a mid-june baseball crowd
-
More of that plz
-

Yeah Tech and TCU and Houston might have led to the staff putting a little too much confidence in the running game
-
Shoulda come out with Will slinging it from the start
The difference on that drive was that Will actually had time/protection to make throws.
-
We let the Oklahoma state game beat us today. I can’t believe how conservative we were. I think ck’s thought our oline could handle them.
Piss poor game plan coupled with dropped int’s a horrific fumble, and a bad drop/int by the Iowa kid

The early drives he was only throwing on obvious passing downs but yes he is doing ok with time
-
Oooooooooooo
-
LMAO this Texas QB
-
Holy moly you guys
-
Holy crap
-
Hope!
-
OK then.
-
LMAO this Texas QB
My god they may have to put in Arch Manning. Murphy went from Mahomes in the first quarter to Zach Wilson lol.
-
Gotdamn, we bad.
-
Massive drive for the defense here. No points
-
:Wha:
The hopium is ON
-
LMAO this Texas QB
My god they may have to put in Arch Manning. Murphy went from Mahomes in the first quarter to Zach Wilson lol.
He has made one of the worst throws I've ever seen multiple times today
-
So glad we stuck to our game plan of establishing the run through 2.75 quarters and a 20 pt deficit.
-
One more TO please.
-
It's happening!
-
Lmaoooooo
-
HOLY CHICAGO
-
HOLY CHICAGO!

Omg this is insane

Why'd you change my post?

JFC. Can we just make the simple plays?

I don't know how we're gonna drive the length of the field
-
Guys . . . .
What was the point spread again?
-
That was a total gift.
-
Oh well, one point wasn't going to be enough anyway
looking like it might make a difference...

It's happening, boys ...
-
Rolling, rolling, rolling

win would have hurt us in the long run
-
Dumb play … gutless.
-
-
What a horrible play call
-
Collin wtf
-
That third call was awful. It hasn't worked all day
Learned nothing from the entire game. Pretty unbelievable, really
-
Gutless 3rd doen play call. Just inexcusable. You pound that thing twice and go for the win.
-
Well that was fun. And after the first half I'm pretty thrilled we didn't get blown out.
-
There is absolutely no excuse, Klein is terrible
-
Like you have to hand it to Will Howard. He rough ridin' played lights out after his fumble
-
I knew rough ridin' the game leg SOB was going to cost us a game this year.
-
Come home, Sean.
-
Horrifying sequence and kick. HOW
-
There is no excuse for the third down play or kicking it after running that play
-
There is no excuse for the third down play or kicking it after running that play
Or for the entire first half. Klein was terrible
-
I am also in favor of Sean coming home
-
Well that was fun. And after the first half I'm pretty thrilled we didn't get blown out.
And it's still not over. . . :crossfingers:
-
Still in it!

There's a chance. C'mon, cats. The Hateful 8 need this.

Oh man oh man

Bless his heart.

There is no excuse for the third down play or kicking it after running that play

He was. Really good in second tho. Other than that goal line sequence
-
GUYS . . .. . .!!!

Send these fools out like A&M, on the heels of a gut-wrenching OT loss delivered by Collin Klein
-
There is no excuse for the third down play or kicking it after running that play

This ref is bussin, fr.
-
Guys, this has been almost physically too much for me today. The outcome of this game may very well alter the trajectory of this posters life. I have felt the range today. Holy crap

Can you get a pick six in OT? If so, I’ll have that. If I’m UT I don’t pass.
-
Gotta jump on the jump pass
-
cheerleader looks confused
-
I would kick it, personally
-
Don't mess this up, cats. The Hateful 8 need this. This is not an opportunity to be taken lightly.
-
kick the points you rough ridin' idiot
-
Jesus
-
I would kick it, personally
yep
-
I preferred to kick but am OK with going for the win.
-
There is no excuse for the third down play or kicking it after running that play
Or for the entire first half. Klein was terrible
He was. Really good in second tho. Other than that goal line sequence
The second half makes the first half worse
Welp. Ass backwards at end of regulation and in OT. Dumb.
-
klieman is a rough ridin' idiot... a rough ridin' rough ridin' idiot...

My gripe is the QB run call when we got so close
-
Ofc
-
Going for it was the right call. Didn’t love the play call. But really the O line just got manhandled.
-
My gripe is the QB run call when we got so close
Yep, can’t believe he called that again
-
eff that. Makes no sense. I don't care if Tennant misses it.
-
Had to go for it but that play call was oof
-
Had to go for it but that play call was oof
You absolutely did not have to go for it
-

Howard mumped the first one up. If he runs to the right it's a TD but Howard looks for contact
-
Well having the right play call should be baked into your decision to go for it
-
Obviously wish it was better, respect the hell of out going for it. Not mad, just upset
-
You have to at least let Avery get one attempt in a 4 down series from the 5 yard line.
-
Had to go for it but that play call was oof
You absolutely did not have to go for it
Yea you do bud
-
Had to go for it but that play call was oof

Yes we did not have to, but I think the odds of winning were significantly worse if we tried it.
-

Not really. I'd actually say that's a bad idea
-
You have to at least let Avery get one attempt in a 4 down series from the 5 yard line.
I would have rolled with him by the second quarter but inserting him at that point is a pretty obvious indication of what the play call is going to be
-

Their QB was shook. We were the better team the second half by far
-

He messed up the one in OT too, I think. He was already set on the jump pass even though he could have run past the big guy who ended up batting the pass.
-

Would have been fun to see. Could have had some options there I think?

We were stopping their offense the last 10 minutes of the game. We were moving the ball better than texassss. Why in the world would we HAVE to go for it when we could have continued the game. No reason not to kick the field goal...
-

Ya, that would really catch them by surprise

The issue is you’re assuming Tennant even converts that FG.

An extra point field goal.... you're assuming we would score a touchdown... I would have bet on the short field goal and continued the game...
-
Going for it was the right call. Make a somewhat risky kick (given our shaky fg game) to enable at best a 50/50 2nd OT? No way. Gotta think we had something like a 40% chance of scoring on that play.
That was one of the weirdest and most frustrating games ever. The cats made so many fundamental errors that it hardly seemed fair they had a chance to win it. But they did. Twice.
It felt like we were playing one of the most talented and disciplined teams in the history of CFB in the 1st half, and they just crumpled in the 2nd half. Wild. I hated almost the entire game. It was so painful to watch.
The start of this game felt like a low-T KSU hoops team of yesteryear self-destruct in a rowdy AFH. What an absolutely awful 1st half. Miraculous that we were down only 10 at half.

The fact that we were so much better is a pretty good reason to give him a shot.
-
So many missed opportunities.
-
The coaching staff made objectively terrible decisions, that’s not debatable.
-
I'm sure this will help Tennant's psyche the rest of the year too. :flush: (ftp://:flush:)

Where do you pull these percentages from?   I think we would have had a 100% chance if we continued the game.... :)

The estimate of our odds in the 2nd OT boils down to being at a disadvantage when the other team gets the ball 2nd (and knows whether a FG is a good option). I think that's pretty obvious.
As for the odds of scoring on 4th down, it's called a guesstimate. I'm pretty sure it's not all that difficult to estimate the odds of getting a TD from a few yards out on one play. You're right, though - I did not get this estimate from a football simulator. You win the argument. Good job.

I liked the call, I also wish we had been better on downs 1-3 (though first was ok)
We were bold, and put the pressure on. Had we got it, it'd been the win of the season
-
A decision between options that are roughly equally justifiable is, by definition, not that big a deal.
-Confucius, probably
-
It’s not hard.
You go for it at the end of regulation, and plan for that with your play-calling. You kick the FG in OT.
That’s how you do it.
The fact that their offense was DONE only adds fuel to that fire.
-
lots of positives from today, I think we win out and finish 9-3. can’t complain about that!
-
Losing this game means @KU would easily be our best win of the season if we pull it off.
The top half of the Big 12 has seemed pretty tight this year, with the main separation coming down to who gets their most difficult opponents at home.
-
i’m staring at the pop tarts bowl in the face and saying hell yeah

I'd pop some tarts.

I mean… I think that means we’re not going to defend the championship this year. BUT we had 2 conference losses last year and somehow managed to win a rematch against TCU. I would love a rematch against UT. Stranger things have happened in the BigXII…

It could happen, but it's unlikely. KU and KSU are now in the same boat (conference-wise). Yes, it's possible, but not probable. Everything needs to happen "just so."
-
Mott made some huge plays. Forced a fumble and tipped/headbutted two passes, right? That was impressive.
It was wild to see the offense look so impotent in H1. Seemed like we were trying too hard to make the run game happen.

The problem is we added complete dogshit teams and TCU and Tech are also terrible
-
This was a pretty bad loss considering their qb situation. Probably as bad as our other two losses.
-
Texas is in the CG and the winner of bedlam almost a sure thing.

i was really surprised that we came back to tie the game. that part was neat.

Scoring on a single play from 4-yards out is one of the hardest feats to accomplish in football. Kicking what is essentially a successful xp is one of the easiest, even if you just missed one.
-

Disagree with the first sentence. Agree with the second.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. We're just a few plays away from having an absolutely remarkable season.

What a game by our cats. Wish we could’ve finished. Not mad we had the balls to go for it. Didn’t love it that point though.

Yea I also think we finish 9-3, and that's remarkable honestly. Klieman is going to be averaging over 8 wins per regular season in his 4 full seasons he's coached here and that's incredibly good. I would have taken the under on 7 per year when he was hired.

I’ll never understand running the QB off center from the shotgun with 1 or less yards to go. I know that is part of the offense and we do it successfully some times but they knew it was coming. Also, it was third down. Get under center, try a sneak or a run and make a 4th down decision. Doing the same thing from 5 yards further back is just dumb.

Finally some common ground.
We acted like we expected to wear their D line down and got manhandled instead. Credit to CK for adjusting at the half but he obviously gets the blame for coming in with the game plan in the first place.

100% should have been under center. Nothing to complain about if your oversized QB can’t fall forward for a yard.

Did you see what the NT did to our center all game?

Even if you think the NT is winning that battle, I think you still have close to a 50/50 shot if you can guess the better side to go to.

So doing the same thing from 5 yards further back is a better plan to handle the NT? It was a complete crap play all regardless. If you are going to run the QB up the middle for 1 yard, I’d much rather him not need 6 yards to get there.

I don't agree with running Will at all, but going under center was a guaranteed failure. Would have preferred 4 attempts with empty backfields and going to the endzone each time.

Had to go for it but that play call was oof
You absolutely did not have to go for it
Yea you do bud
This is such an idiotic take. People argue whether or not it was the right call to go for it when it was clearly proven to be the wrong call. The proof is in the pudding. We went for it, got manhandled on the line and in pass coverage, and came nowhere close to converting. It was a terrible call. Was Tennant bad? Yes but that would've been basically an extra point, and even if he missed it, we'd be sitting here looking at the same result.

If getting "manhandled" on that play made it a bad play, what exactly would be different if we elected to kick the field goal and if we made said field goal? If you don't have confidence in gaining four yards, seems like using a strategy that requires you to gain 21 more yards, is let's say, inconsistent logic.

I don't think so. We were so much better in plays where we could spread the field than short yardage plays. When you're going for broke on one play from the four yard-line, you're limited because the field is so compressed because of the back of the end zone being out of bounds. Had we kicked and taken it to a second OT I like our chances of breaking loose from a mid-range or longer play when we have more field to work with. Hell, that first OT play we had to Sinnott went for 17 yards pretty effortlessly.
-
Like look at our red zone touchdown rate vs. our 4th down conversion rate or 2 point conversion rate.
-
It would have been a bold and daring call with nfl OT rules, knowing you might not get the ball back if you kick a fg to tie.
With cfb OT rules it was just artificially putting the entire game on a 4th and 4 even though you could kick a short fg and get the ball back again with new downs
-
Missed opportunity for a short side option imo

Well to score a touchdown we'd eventually have to either get four yards or convert a fourth down.

I mean these are all opinions, so no, no lies in yours or anyone elses.
For the record, I think that going for the win there was a good play, not right or wrong, regardless of the kicker or what he did or didn't do earlier in the game. It's worth noting that for the season we average 6 yards per play and for the game we were averaging 4.9 yards per play. Thinking you could get 4 yards to win the game isn't some radical concept.
