Title: Favorite J in a PB&J
Post by: OK_Cat on May 02, 2023, 02:00:21 PM
Probably all grape people, right?

I know people who prefer strawberry (with seeds  :dubious:) and that's gross

young OK_Cat would absolutely destroy a jar of "Goober," the stuff that was grape jelly and pb in the same jar.

Are there really any other flavors for PB&J besides grape or s'berry?

Grape obviously. I like a thin spread on the bread, I don't know how you people eat all those big clumps of jelly.

I think grape PBJ is a White Midwesterner thing. It is in fact how I was raised. Strawberry seems to be more common elsewhere.

I put a little bit of honey on a grape pb&j once, thinking that would add some more sugary delight, but it was too much.

I (very wealthy) prefer almond butter to peanut butter. And the strawberry goes better with the almond butter. AB&J all day mother effers.

Paulaner All Fruit Strawberry. No added sugar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, the best PB is Smuckers Natural, hands down. Out of convenience, I get the Costco Organic Natural and its fine, but not as good. I am a peanut butter expert so I will not take any questions or debate this.

luckily for SF, pretty much every single grocery store in america has that station next to the bulk items, with the hoppers filled with almonds and peanuts and maybe even pecans? but anyway he can just go to the peanut one and make his own, sugar free peanut puree but like, there are easier ways to induce vomit like have you tried syrup of ipecac?

I myself barter fresh peanuts from my neighbor down the way in exchange for vegetables from our garden and use a mortar and pestle to grind them into a paste. Then, I gather fresh blackberries from a field near my house, which my wife uses to make fresh blackberry jam. We then spread each on a piece of fresh old world bread and enjoy a slice of the good life. Buon Appetito.

The important thing is cutting the bread on a diagonal. The sandwich is going to taste just fine, regardless of what peanut butter or jelly you use.

Other than chips, peanut butter on a banana is the best food jesus or whoever invented.

big fan of beehive jam here, but it doesn’t have the same satisfying slurpy texture as a good fruit jam.

I PB both sides of bread, but one half is thicker than the other, then I really swirl around the jelly into the thicker blob of pb to help prevent drippage.

Smucker's Concord Grape JAM.

Jelly is for losers.

Bonne Maman Four Fruit Preserves is tops.

There are only four ingredients in it: fruit, brown cane sugar, lemon juice and pectin.

I am not in any way a picky eater. I like to try new foods and to eat many different cuisines. The list of things I avoid eating is short. Grape Jelly is on the list.

When I was a small child for like a year I had to take some super bitter medicine for my asthma. My Mother would feed it to me in a spoon full of grape jelly. I can't eat it ever again.

I'm good with Rasp Jam, Orange Marm, Apricot Spread, literally anything but grape jelly.

Grape jelly is by far the most removed from the actual fruit. I don't think you could make grape jelly at home from grapes

all of this arguing about who’s right and who’s wrong, it’s so sad

though there’s something very satisfying about the simple, perfect, pb&j that makes me wonder if the arguing is worth it?

whatever letters you use to describe your pb&j is your business, friends.  chef’s kiss!
