I’m pretty pumped about Jake Clifton. If I remember correctly, OU was sniffing around late in the recruiting process. An OU fan friend said they could have had him if they wanted him because he was an OU legacy. Supposedly his dad played for OU, but I have been unable to confirm.

For those that are new or don't remember, I trot out this feature via a message board post before each game. It will go the night before or the morning of each game with the final notes I have heard.
1) As alluded to throughout the week, I am hearing that Kansas State will be without the services of safeties Josh Hayes and TJ Smith. From what I have gathered on both situations, it will likely be the only game that Hayes misses. Smith could miss more games.
2) Will Honas is out for a few weeks so he will also not be available.
3) Unfortunately, I have to stick with the defense and speak even more about them being even more short-handed. Multiple sources have confirmed that Shawn Robinson will likely not play today. Details on how much more he will miss is a bit scattered right now. Just know he will at least miss today's game.
4) The above note is why I now tend to think we may have to see more Khalid Duke than expected.
5) Because of all that, I will be curious to see how they shoulder those losses on the defensive side of the ball. After a clean camp, they are a bit snake bit when it comes to the injury bug of sorts. Who starts with Kobe Savage at safety too? One should be Drake Cheatum. Will the other be Nickendre Stiger, Cincere Mason or true freshman VJ Payne?
6) Another item I can't wait to find out and watch is the offense under Collin Klein. How different are the looks? I'm intrigued!

Up 34 - 0 now. I think it has been a pretty solid game all around. The defense has been aggressive, the offense has been pretty vanilla but has been very effective. Special team had been good other than a missed PAT

I saw these being handed out and threw an actual fit. To make matters worse the voucher I saw sitting on the table belonged to an ex. Some very nice blue hair literally put her hand on my shoulder and said "I got an email about it, you should check it on your phone." I would venture a guess that half the Kansas kids on our football team grew up as Jayhawk basketball fans. It is a tough nut to crack growing up in Kansas. 1) 40 yr anniversary of the 1982 Independence Bowl team. Couple dozen from that squad were in attendance for a reunion Thursday - Sat.
2) 10 yr anniversary of the 2012 BigXII Championship team (obviously)
3) Ring of Honor Inductees
4) The annual Golden Cat tailgate - was an interesting mix of former players from many generations/eras this year, given #1 and #2 above. Ell Roberson seemed to play host in the middle of the beer tent and took a ton of pictures with a lot of people's kids. He was great to talk to and a good sport about it.
4a) KState Athletics does a great job on these events. The beer tent was either Bud Light or Kona Brewing.
Klieman and Van Malone came by the Golden Cat event and spoke for a couple minutes - very cool. It was clear they really care about having former players come by practice and the complex. I don't recall ever seeing Snyder stop by an event w/in a couple hours of game time.
Just a great day in terms of weather, touchdowns and more touchdowns.

Ell Roberson seemed to play host in the middle of the beer tent and took a ton of pictures with a lot of people's kids. He was great to talk to and a good sport about it.
4a) KState Athletics does a great job on these events. The beer tent was either Bud Light or Kona Brewing.
Klieman and Van Malone came by the Golden Cat event and spoke for a couple minutes - very cool. It was clear they really care about having former players come by practice and the complex. I don't recall ever seeing Snyder stop by an event w/in a couple hours of game time.
Just a great day in terms of weather, touchdowns and more touchdowns.
