The first sentence falls under the #blueanon mantra that anybody that we don't like should be banned or placed under the "highly questionable organization" label, I digress. It's plausible the the filings were what drove the decision to unseal and the the DOJ felt as continuing to keep them sealed would only add to the pressure to explain themselves coming from many sources.
I do appreciate that Herr Garland continues to hide behind "ongoing investigation" every time he's pressed to answer anything surrounding Trump.

The first sentence falls under the #blueanon mantra that anybody that we don't like should be banned or placed under the "highly questionable organization" label, I digress. It's plausible the the filings were what drove the decision to unseal and the the DOJ felt as continuing to keep them sealed would only add to the pressure to explain themselves coming from many sources.
I do appreciate that Herr Garland continues to hide behind "ongoing investigation" every time he's pressed to answer anything surrounding Trump.

If the only thing that changes is trump not hinting that he’ll maybe run again then the rest of this absolutely still goes down the same way. You could just look up the elements. I've brought civil RICO charges before, but I don't do criminal law. It's just a fancy conspiracy. You need one or more predicate crimes, and two or more confederates who perform predicate acts. The predicate crimes can be anything, really. As you probably know, RICO laws were invented to make it easier to prosecute the mafia, which seems oddly fitting for Trump.

I would think a cooperating defendant in a RICO case would radically increase odds in the favor of prosecution. :dunno:

It's just good to know that at least one 2024 Presidential Candidate has the mental capacity to stand trial, while the other one who had secret documents in places financed by the Chinese and who was giving classified information to people without security clearances and openly storing them in places with easy access for those without security clearances . . . is too mentally feeble to stand trial. :thumbsup:

So I guess they have selected a jury for the Stormy Daniels case. What is going to happen here, legal experts?
The jury and alternates were selected on Friday. Opening arguments were on Monday. A guy named Pecker (no joke) has been on the stand for the prosecution rough ridin' Trump. He worked/works for the National Enquirer and outlined the "catch and kill" scheme to benefit Trump's campaign in 2015/2016. The trial is expected to last at least 6 weeks. Slow going, thus far. They are only in court 4 days a week (no Wednesdays), and they seem to have relatively short days and long lunches.

BTW, your boy Mr. Smith admitted to the court a few weeks ago that the DOJ altered/withheld/tampered with evidence.
As was pointed out in congressional hearings, much to the rage of Herr Garland, the appointment of a special counsel (from outside the government) requires a presidential appointment and the approval of congress, at least the senate.
Now, what self awarded loophole is the DOJ going to try to use in their appeal?
