nowell - 12.4 (oscar recruit)
massoud - 6.8 (oscar recruit)
n'guessan - 3.7
carter - 2.2
colbert - .5
:Ugh:
-
Damn!
-
As long as our zone defense holds teams to under 25 points per game, we should be fine
-
this is still probably a lot better than the rpg numbers
-
fun fact, the 3 new guys combined averaged less points than the most criticized player last year.
-
We are in hot pursuit of Kerwin Walton who had 3.4 ppg for UNC last year

Question for stunted and wacky that i want to ask now…
If tang has a similar performance as last years team does tang get credit for achieving the same result as oscar even though he will be working with substantially less talent? In my mind if you can achieve the same result as someone with much better talent, then that would either make you an overachiever or the other guy with all the talent an underachiever. But oscar won the most conference titles of anyone since like the 70s, plus he also went to the elite 8, so I mean…really not possible that he was an underachiever he was clearly our greatest achiever OAT.
I’m assuming the less talent talking point to be canon since the two of you have spent so much energy focusing on how much less talent we will have next year as compared to this past season. Thanks in advance for your insights
-
He said he wanted to elevate and get some dudes. And that it wouldn't take long to do so. None of that is happening so far. Welcome to my TED talk.
-
Not what I asked. Lmk if you want to answer the question I asked
-
I think you're thinking too hard about it. Have a great day!
-
Wacky just wants to troll the barren basketball blog because he's butthurt about oscar.

Astounding alliteration.
-
You guys are right. He's killing it! Nothing to see here.
Case closed!!!
-
why not go with " 'bout" if alliterating
-
I think you're thinking too hard about it. Have a great day!
Got it. How about you, stunted?
-
I don't really understand getting upset right now. We have nothing to lose. We've sucked complete crap and crap the last 3 years. Nowhere to go but up. (or stay the same) :dunno:

No duh it’d be more impressive

WE WERE PROMISED A GRCOAT
-
I'm going to wait until he finishes bottom half of the conference to start freaking out at all, and even then I am going to be content for at least a season if recruiting starts looking better. And I fully believe recruiting will get a lot better.
-
no Rage, the time to be angry is now. oscar had this program humming along and then we had to go mess with a good thing and now look where we are (or might be since we don't know yet)
-
 JFC
-
You can easily see other examples of other coaches that have already made an impact with their new programs out there, that we're available for us. Look what the Mizzou and LSU coaches are doing already. It's pretty much what we were told what was going to happen here immediately, but no, the never brucers get all :curse: when you bring up the underwhelming performance so far, by the new staff. Good crap. Especially since you know BAC knows zero crap about recruiting or has even followed it once in his life.
-
Yeah, the never Brucers are the ones who are all :curse:.
-
Yeah, the never Brucers are the ones who are all :curse:.
lol. They're the ones who "weren't taking mediocrity anymore!" and ho humming what's going on here and getting all :curse: with anyone who calls it out.
-
I'd love to be good enough to consider the team mediocre.
-
Well the previous guy made the tournament 50% of the time, made an elite 8, and won two conference championships. So if that's below mediocrity, above that is the new bar now, Rage.

Making the tournament consistently as a P5 is mediocrity, sure. That isn't setting the world on fire, or anything.
-
Wacky's responding to every single post about basketball as if he's still trying to win an argument about oscar. It's exhausting and really kills what little basketball discussion happens on here.
-

you can be disappointed with the recruiting results all you want. i don't think anyone on this blog is saying he has come anywhere close to delivering on his promises. I guess i just don't see the point in getting mad when they won't even being setting foot on the court for like another 6 months
like, maybe just wait before you and stunted roll out your 2 man SEE I TOLD YOU SO! show until after the season has at least gotten started? I'm not saying don't take the show on tour...just like, wait til they've played a few games, maybe?
-

Wacky shut up
-
Wacky is not wrong, but it doesn’t mean that his revenge tour hasn’t grown old. It’s every bit as annoying & childish as the burn it down crowd was. Honestly, I expected wacky to be better than this.

2 months of it vs a decade of it. They'll live. I'll be :bball: my ass off come November.
-
I'll bet that if the team is terrible, wacky ends up defending them while most of the board turns on Tang.

i think tang will do better than oscar. (3rd year and on. but first 2 years, WAY WORSE)
but he promised so much so early. I WANT IT ALL

I think he believed every bit of what he was saying (as opposed to Prince who was more of a salesman about it). Maybe with more time to build relationships, this staff will get the talent they're shooting for. At the end of the day, finishing in the top 5 but not landing elite talent just means you wasted a lot of resources.

How do you get WAY worse then second to last or last 3 years in a row?
-
He’s saying Tang’s first year will be worse than oscar’s. Which is a pretty hot take considering one followed a coach who left for a better AD relationship and the other followed a coach who got fired for sucking.
-
Get him, guys! :shakesfist:

lol. What did you expect? Smellis never misses an opportunity to take a passive/aggressive jab at K State
-
He’s not wrong, tho. Mid K-State fans are exploding their heads with average or below average commitments right now, because they “didn’t follow the past 10 years after Weber got hired!”. Many are dumb and didn’t realize he was recruiting top 150 prospects all the time.
-
I’m going to give my seldom used HugeCat guarantee. All three of those guys will have better points per game and rebounds per game averages than they had last year.
-
 No crap!
-
lol. Well, how is what I said any different than what Smellis said? You acted like Smellis posted some incredibly insightful info by stating something completely obvious and acting like it is an indictment of Coach Tang

Wasn’t trying to, boss.

i wan't very clear. i mean he's going to do WAY WAY worse than oscar would have in 22-23 and 23-24.

Easily
-
Yeah, oscar clearly had this ship headed in the right direction.
-
He'll probably be worse than oscar would've been next year, but I don't think either coach would get us to the NCAAs so we're just talking degrees of bad.
-
Many here who are acting like we couldn't get any worse than last year, didn't actually watch us play last year. We lost like a dozen one possession games in the #1 RPI league and a lot early on due to dumbass covid protocols, that they stopped following mid season. That team is blown up now and has been replaced with a bunch of bench players from shitty teams. :th_twocents:
-
If we finish in 8th, that is improvement. These players are talented enough to do that and more.
-

What makes you think they're talented enough? Their Rivals profiles or their P5 offers? Because the guys who just transferred out had similar profiles.
-
Nobody has said we couldn't get worse. People have said they don't give a crap about the difference between 9th and 10th.
We were 3-7 in one-possession games (including both OT games). If we break even on those, we end up 16-15. It's not some season changer like you pretend it is. Regardless, actual good teams don't play close games.

When you're playing a top 25 team every night in this league, you better hope you're playing close games and not getting your doors blown off.

And all the players from last year’s team went to shitty schools. Only 2 who went P5 were Pack and Bradford. Bradford did nothing last year and oscar’s track record on big man development isn’t stellar. Pack it seems like you believe definitely would be here still if we kept oscar. Fact of the matter is the dude got a 400k NIL deal, there’s a pretty good chance he was testing those waters no matter who the coach was.
If Pack transferred anyway do you really think we’re bringing in anyone better than we have under Tang? If that happens we’re looking at another mediocre at best season (and likely another bottom 2-3 finish) with another year of increasing fan disinterest.

I trust coach Tang. You should too. He's a winner.

I was ready for oscar to leave. This isn't about oscar, this is if we hired the right guy or not.

Somebody’s gotta bring you a fresh pair of underwear bc it’s obvious this whole pee pants routine you’re on won’t be curbed anytime soon
-
Sorry for your loss, BAC.
-
Watching film reveals an obvious upgrade in talent level. Freshmen often get shorted on PT when playing behind top level talent on good teams.
And losing as many one possession games as we did, demonstrates how poor oscar's clock management and play calling was. It was mind-blowing watching us bungle in-bounds plays after a timeout.
-
The most noticeable change is going to be having quality bigs that can rebound and alter shots at the rim. We haven’t seen that in a long time.
-
The record in close games is an indictment of oscar, not something to hang a hat on. It is very difficult to be as poor in close games as the previous staff was. I seriously doubt Tang will be as bad in close games. That's not to say he's going to be good, but I doubt that his teams won't be the reliable pants shitters we've seen the last three seasons.
