First real competition in a while. Can we pull this off?
-
3 and out for the defense to start the game! Liking the crowd's energy so far!
-
The clowder looks pretty pumped up for this.
-
rough ridin' hell.
-
So much for special teams U.
-
Turnovers are bad!
-
D looking very bendy but not breaky thus far
-
D looking very bendy but not breaky thus far
Doesn't really work well when you give it to them on your own 20

Welp there she breaks

Lol
-
Can't afford make these kind of mistakes...
-
That muffed punt has the same energy as that red zone fumble against OU. Hoping for a better outcome
-
Is the Baylor sideline cheerleading? LMAO
-
Needed that penalty !
maybe get things started . . .
-
rough ridin' vanilla ass playcalling and Thompson gets what has to be his 12th Roughing the Passer call of the season

Need to call more touchdowns
-
Gutsy! :ksu:
-
Ballsy call there on 4th and 4 but it pays off!
-
Baylor's defense is pretty good . . .
-
Yea it is hilarious how Kliegoober has no issues going for it on 4th and whatever pretty much any time but he refuses to run a hurry up offense when we have the ball with less than 2 mins in the half.
-

It does raise an eyebrow.

Not really
-
Hey, we stopped them!
-
Let's see if our WRs can get open on this drive. That group is awful. Need a grad transfer or two in that group.
-
lol.....
-
Jesus Christ Skylar
-
Wow that was bad.
-
Let's see if our WRs can get open on this drive. That group is awful. Need a grad transfer or two in that group.
The quarterback isn't helping
-
I can't tell if this is the first game of the season or not.
-
Skylar is having an awful game
-
Welp, that was a rough series. . .
-
Offense looking terrible so far.
-
Baylor defense is too good right now.
-
Damnit. I get the feeling it is only a matter of time before they go play action on our ass for 6.
-
Baylor defense is too good right now.
Yep. Baylor's front is roughing up our offensive line.
-
Baylor defense is too good right now.
Not really. Skylar and WRs are just sucking.
-
Not sure I would have declined that holding . . . :dunno:
-
Baylor defense is too good right now.
Not really. Skylar and WRs are just sucking.
If you say so. They held OU to 14 as well, and they have NFL talent at QB and WR.
-
our d playing pretty solid... need some o...
-
Baylor defense is too good right now.
Not really. Skylar and WRs are just sucking.
Seriously? Maybe there's a reason for that

Falling on your ass when nobody is within 5 yards, missing a wide open man 10 yards down the field, missing Knowles for 6, and giving up on routes are all self inflicted wounds.
-
Deuce is so amazing
-
how about some quick slants....anything...

Those are illegal at K-State, and have been for decades.

Deuce is so amazing
He really is. So fun to watch.

ok
-
eff that ref
-
Guys, this just isn't going to be our night.
-
Well that looks like horse crap.
-
That seems like a bad call
-
That was a horseshit call. Can it be reviewed?
-
Guys, this just isn't going to be our night.
Seems to be the theme against anyone we play with a winning record.
-
Luckily our defense is great tonight
-
Yikes
-
Yikes
They have no respect for us
-
Ok maybe not that great
-
We need to just eff them right back
-
#SackFest
-
Need a TO or something
-
Baylor is really good. Aranda is a helluva coach.
-
Baylor is really good. Aranda is a helluva coach.
Yes he is. Hopefully he'll go back to LSU or maybe USC or something like that.
-
Tired of this game
-
Don't know if we can dig out of a 2 TD hole.........
-
Baylor is really good. Aranda is a helluva coach.
Yes he is. Hopefully he'll go back to LSU or maybe USC or something like that.
Would take. They are going to be a force for years to come...
-
I really hope we can win, but they just look like the much better team. Our defense is playing about as well as could be expected, but they can still score. Conversely, our offense is having to work so hard to just gain a few yards.
-
Yes, defense is doing well, even after that drive Baylor only has ~ 130 total yards, unfortunately our offense only has about half that many.
-
This will get very very ugly.
Sucks b/c it’s against such a trashy school/program and defense is putting up a good effort.
-
Gotta take advantage of this gift
-
We have to cash in that free drive
-
Deuce is so amazing
-
He's a rough ridin' monster
-
I love him so much
-
Section 23 approves. What a momentum turn.

So close

Come on D. Need the stop.

Bohanon is hamstrung

hammy....

Has Elder ever shed a block in his entire career?

Somebody smoke this backup

late timeout....
-
christ.....
-
Has Elder ever shed a block in his entire career?
Couldn't shed the ref's block on that big fourth down conversion
-
Ugh
-
rough ridin' garbage. Two TOs to dial up that scheme?
-
Their backup is much better than our backup.
-
Are we getting dollar signed?

This back up will throw a pick before the night is over. Offense needs to get going and we still have a chance.
-

I believe you
-
If we can stop the run, we might just win this rough ridin' game.
-
Let's go fellas. No reason not to put it on them with their backup in....
-
Geeez we suck coming out of half
-
First half Stats:
KSU total yards = 139
Duece = 115 yards rushing
24 yards receiving
-
Welp, the backup is a stud
-
Welp, the backup is a stud
We could really use a backup like that.
Finally, a fourth down stop!
-
Hey, Elder with an open field tackle. Let's all take a minute to acknowledge it
-
Where my elderites at?
-
is there anyone in the rough ridin' stands? Several big stops on that drive and barely a clap? jesus christ

Apparently it is Thanksgiving break or something.
-
Vaughn carrying this team.
-
Thompson has got to use his legs to pick up some yards this game
-
Goodness Sky is playing like crap tonight
-
He seems incredibly skittish about running the ball. I guess I get why, but cmon sky baby it’s senior daaaaay
-
Thompson has got to use his legs to pick up some yards this game
Yeah would like to see him take advantage of ready yards.
-
They've been begging to turn it over
-
:lynchmob:
-
Like 4 fumbles, bout time we recovered one
-
Lol. Sky has been late on every damn throw today
-
has anyone noticed that their quarterback is good and ours is bad?
-
Well damn, really needed points there. . .
-
dude RUN FOR THE FIRST DOWN. Staying in there to throw up a prayer just resulted in you getting banged up.
-
do you think sky will see my post?
-
has anyone noticed that their quarterback is good and ours is bad?
Yep, Skyler having a hard time with the Baylor front. Their backup already has as many completions as Sky :frown:
-
No better way to seize the momentum off a turnover than…checks notes…promptly going 3 and out
-
has anyone noticed that their backup quarterback is good and ours is bad?
-
has anyone noticed that their quarterback is good and ours is bad?
It tells you how low the bar is here. We're watching a freshman QB step in and and simply outplay our 6th year starting QB.
-
Seriously, their backup is throwing darts out there. Very impressed.
-
Elder having to make way too many tackles....
-
Damnit. Skylar should be taking notes.
-
Didn’t get the 3rd quarter we needed. It’s over.
-
Didn’t get the 3rd quarter we needed. It’s over.
I don't believe you
-
I still think this freshman has an interception in him as good as he looks. Just need to hold them here and our offense to get a big play or two.
-
Rough day (so far) for Skylar. He needed to be great to beat this defense, but his physical body is too limited.
-

But this is Skyler. He's still good for a crazy 60+ yard TD pass or a key 3rd, 4th down play that eventually scores. He's average 60% of the game, bad for 20% and outstanding for 20%.

Well, there's 25% of the game left and he hasn't been outstanding yet. . .
. . . I like your optimism :ksu:
-
receivers are just jogging around!!!
-
...aaaand sack.
-
i reserve the right to revise my %'s, that was a quick post. Outstanding should probably be closer to 5-10% :)
-
As a wise man once said, skylar is the limit
-
Nice! Sometimes you forget Knowles is still on the team.
-
Amazing.
-
absoloutely pathetic.....
-
Yeah we should probably stop running Deuce up the gut because they all look like that.
-
Bloody Hell.
-
our new kicker really sucks
-
Welp
-
Have I ever seen a game with more qb pressures/sacks for both sides? No, no I have not. Defenses just absolutely camping out back there all day long.
-
our new kicker really sucks
Remind me what happened to the other guy?
-
Ain't that just a kick in the Blumers.
-
We got the third down plan we wanted, the Baylor guy made the play

-

There have been some pressures, but our O-Line has given Sky more than enough time on numerous occasions. He just can't ever find the wide open man on time. We also allergic to any up-tempo which doesn't when we do start having some marginal success.
-
We got the third down plan we wanted, the Baylor guy made the play
Yup, great tackle. But most of the time would have gone or way

Still alive

LUNCH MOB!!!

Time to pick up the tempo....

Time to hand it to deuce up the gut

The Baylor dline is destroying us
-
What a dumb game football is. People getting hurt every other play
-
Sad that skylar is having one of his all time worst performances on senior day
-
Also if we punt then kli deserves the same treatment the dude at Washington got
-
This offense is trash outside of Deuce.
Play calling sucks.
-
What a dumb game football is. People getting hurt every other play
So dumb
-
dropping back Skyler in the pocket time after time when we can't stop the rush is incredible stupid...do the coaches hate Skyler?
-

yep, another play another player hurt
-
perfect!
-
Lol. Sky mentally checks out.
-
Well that wasn't good
-
I still think this freshman has an interception in him.
not wrong.
-
lolzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
-
how were we ever picked by 1 point today.... :'bye cruel world:
-
Super sad senior day for Skylar
-
What an un-fun game
-
Hard to imagine we'll ever have a good offense under Kleinman. Sucks cause the defense is enjoyable to watch
-
well, if you told me we'd hold BU to 20 i would have told you we squeaked out a win. As it were, we suck at football.
-
OK, so someone who knows more about this team and their situation please tell me why we throw J Lewis over Howard out there when Skyler went out? I understand the 4 game limit and burning a redshirt, but one of the biggest rough ridin' games of the year (in the current situation) is on the line, we don't put our best option on the field? I can't imagine our coaching staff feels Lewis is the better option, so are we that screwed at QB in the future? Makes no sense to me :dunno:
-
Defense play great. Special teams and offense sucked. In fact, you can lay the lose on the ST.
-

Probably spoke with Howard and his fam that he was going to red shirt. Since they hit bowl eligibility they probably didn’t discuss contingencies like this.
Or it could be he is RS this year and plans to transfer out after the season. No inside info, just throwing darts.
-
To me, neither of those situations are valid. You put in your best option to win the game no matter what. It's not like we were down 3TDs with no shot to win. Howard is a decent running QB, so go try to get the rough ridin' win. I don't get it.
-

So then you are of the mindset he’s injured and was dressed as an emergency 6th string QB? As a fan it’s annoying AF to watch it go down like that, but we had no shot to win that game when Skylar went down, and we have no idea the discussions that have gone on about RS.
-
my guess is the decision came down to howard sucking ass.

OK, I've been drinking, but I have no idea what you're asking here. I'm not talking about 6th string QBs, Howard is clearly the second string QB. Lewis is third based on playing time, Rubley is a ghost right now. You play your best backup in a close game to try and win the game. All I was saying is if we are so worried about burning a redshirt on a backup QB of the caliber of Will Howard, we must be mumped in our QB situation going forward. With the new transfer portal thing, the worry about burning redshirts seems like a relic and teams like K-State needs to worry about the present and win games when you can. We were down 10 points with like 6 minutes left in the game.
-
Isn't the most plausible explanation that Howard has already decided that he's transferring and not playing anymore and will redshirt this year to have an extra year for wherever his path in life leads? And that staff is cool with that as opposed to telling him to kick rocks now and making it a public thing?
-

Yeah, this is kind of where i’m at as well
-
I don't think we were really outcoached in the game, despite some questionable play calling, but rather we simply didn't have the athletes on the field to compete. Our recruiting must improve if we're to compete for titles rather than relying on a few star players to get us through the games.
Oh, and we've got to get a decent quarterback for next year, because there isn't one on our roster after Skylar.
-

I agree, it's either this or he's watched Skylar and wants to be a super cat like Sky and play through 2026. . . but most likely this.
-
Story of the night in my opinion is our O line got manhandled.

Yeah, this is kind of where i’m at as well
So you're saying that a player who has already checked out, already decided to transfer after the end of the year, who dressed up in full pads, looked like he was warming up in the end of an FSN1 broadcast that showed him throwing on the sidelines, the coaching staff still keeps him in a "to go" type of situation just for show? Again, I don't pretend to know what the decision process was there but I think as a coaching staff, you put in your best option to win a gam at that time. To hell with redshirts and so sorry to mess up your opportunities at your next school, you play for K-State now dude
-
Taq are you high? If the player wants to redshirt, you let him, if he doesn't you don't. If Howard and the coaches decide to forego the redshirt for Texas and the bowl game, then fair enough, but you don't make that decision with 3 minutes to go in a game in which you're down multiple scores, that's stupid.
I also think Trim's theory holds some weight. I wouldn't dismiss the possibility that Howard is planning on leaving, now I don't know why because as it sits now he's the starter for 2022, but if they bring in a transfer, he'll know by the end of spring ball whether or not they plan on starting him next fall. I think if Howard doesn't play next week, he might be looking to leave.
One thing to look out for next week and the bowl game is that I didn't see Max Marsh today, the QBs are right in front of my seats. That means if Howard doesn't play and Marsh is either hurt, gone, or whatever, Jake Rubley will be the backup for UT and the bowl game.
-
max marsh? more like max darsh
-
Story of the night in my opinion is our O line got manhandled.
I don't think so. Skylar had time, a lot. The receivers didn't get open and Mess didn't help the offense at all. They were aggressive with a lot of pressure and the play calling did nothing to help the offense. No screens, no draws, nothing to counter the pressure at all.
-

I wasn't able to watch the second half but Skylar hasn't been great executing screens this year. I can recall a couple called and he just couldn't handle pressure, I think it's obvious he never came close to recovering from his injury.
(Still are other ways to help him though)
-

He was standing right in front of me dressed out at the fifty with the rest of the kids who will never take a meaningful snap. I’ve never seen him engaged in any group discussions.

I think it’s fair to say he had enough time, but he still rarely had a clean pocket. That said, my comment was mainly in reference to the fact we couldn’t get any kind of rushing game going outside of one long break by Deuce.

I did not enjoy that game offensively other than deuce

Dr. Fausto with the elite section 5 seats! In my peasant section 3 seats the QBs stand on the 25 and Marsh wasn't there. He also was the only QB on the roster who didn't warm-up at halftime.

I think we’re on the same page in that I’ve never seen him do anything (interact with the other QBs or coaches, etc.) but stand in front of the press box phone watching the game. You would think he’d at least be leaning into their conversations during the game. Also, I wish I would have thought to introduce myself since I think I knew your seats are close. I’m in row four, so I should have just leaned forward and asked Marsh if he was going to ever play.

Even more bizarre that he's in front of Rubley. Watching the sidelines Rubley almost always has his helmet and is ready to go. I'm still convinced that when Thompson got hurt against Southern Illinois Rubley thought he was playing. He got that helmet on and started throwing quickly.
I am in row 12 but I have to move next year because we are adding a seat.
-
i thought the interior OL played like garbage and so did Skylar which isn't a great recipe for offensive success.
That said, it's crazy that we ran 52 plays on saturday and only 13 of them were running plays to Deuce Vaughn or Joe Ervin -- especially on a night when Skylar was playing crummy. Probably should've tried those more often.
Even if you take away Deuce's 65 yard run, he was still averaging >6 ypc. What the heck MESS?

Keeping him fresh for a Friday CTR kickoff? I'm pretty low FBIQ but were there no short routes, open TEs, screens, etc available. It seemed like we were looking downfield on all of the passing plays rather than using some shorter stuff to build a rhythm.
-
We did run at least one screen on saturday. For whatever reason, we don't really run very many screens, period.
I'd have to go back and rewatch to see what was available in the shorter passing game. FWIW, when I was watching the game, I thought all our passes were too limited to the midrange and wanted to see us stretch a bit more. Felt like Baylor's D was ultra focused on removing short/intermediate passes, and when we tried to get further downfield, OL didn't allow time for it.
But my main criticism is only 13 carries for the RBs.
