I like them but only a few spoon fulls.  never eat my whole portion.

Put some green food coloring in them once and sat down in front of some people to see what their reaction would be.  When they asked what the hell I was eating, I calmly told them "green beans."

I like when they come out of a can and they still look like the can.  Sometimes I just take a big bite out of the side of the bean can.

i've never taken a bite out of the bean can, i generally don't eat a lot of canned refried beans.

ecn is right.  make bacon.  discard some, leave some in pan but chopped up.  put pinto beans into pan with bacon grease.  mash them with spatula.  profit.

I do love me some refried beans as well    :lick:

Question for pissclams out of pure curiosity: Do you like black beans and/or pinto beans as much as you do the refried variety?  Are you simply a "bean type of guy" or is it pretty much just refried beans for pissclams?

Because for me, it's refried beans or nothing.  Black beans are fine on Chipotle but otherwise are very boring and gross.  Pinto beans=yuck

pinto beans are refried beans, just not mashed up and cooked.

i hate black beans, they're disgusting.  also hate lima beans and fava beans.  not a huge fan of black eyed peas but will eat if prepared correctly.  never had soybeans.

i don't mind kidney beans and navy beans, or garbanzo beans (hummus).

Hummus is fantastic.  Love it when the pita is grilled and has some char going on.  Also great with hummus- cucumber and bell peppers.  Leave the filfy ass olive out of my hummus, please!  (Olive oil is cool though.)

Grilled chicken (marinated with crushed garlic, olive oil, lemon, cayenne, salt, pepper) with hummus and radishes, parsley, and diced tomatoes is amazing.

Also, no idea what this thread is about. Just saw "hummus" and got excited thinking about radishes.

I'd rather stick a radish up my ass than eat one.  eff those things.

The name is based on a mistranslation: in Mexican Spanish, the prefix re is an informal form of emphasis meaning "very" or "well", which has been confused with the English re and the most common use of the Spanish (Latin) prefix re outside Mexico, which more often indicates repetition. Thus, frijoles refritos really means "well-fried beans", not "refried beans"

Great to know! I had always just assumed they were fried twice as a twice baked potato is baked twice (rebaked potato?).

They're also very popular with poor Egyptians. Foul mudammas = bowl of I-wish-I-could-afford-meat-or-maybe-a-McArabia.
