About 3/4 through the game this team finally decided to fight, but whatever. oscar and his team are done. For getting rid of him, this was nearly the perfect result.
And yes sys, I did notice that 3PT%. (theirs, not ours)
-
another great effort on 3% d. we seem to finally have gotten that issue fixed.
-
Hopefully, the Texas Christians will baptize us before they kill us on Wednesday.
I am joking. I hope they just kill us.
-
I was a big shameful pig supporter of weber at the start the season. I officially take.back his reno moniker, he is an embarrassment no name.
-
I can't see how he survives after today's display.
-
Well my thesis is certainly going to get tested.
-
1st loss by 30+ points since 2006 California. To the last place team in the Big XII...
-
I've become so numb
-
I've become so numb
I have been like that the last couple years. I am warming up to the "root against John Currie" thing. It's so easy to do, and it's like a constant reinforcement schedule.

With just two lottery wins?
-
Well my thesis is certainly going to get tested.
I believe this was the largest win/loss margin in the entire conference this season. If you and others who have adopted your thesis are being honest, there really shouldn't be any sincere talk of retention unless he wins the next three games. I still don't think that's enough. At this point it's more likely for him to get canned before the season ends than it is that he'll be coaching here next season.

remember after the tech loss when you guaranteed this was a tourney team and i said it was nit at best :gocho:

It was actually after the CSU game
This team is fun to watch and I'm 100% all in. When we were down early I started thinking about how awesome DJamer has been and his career would be completely wasted. This team is 100% making the NCAA tournament. I will renew my objection about our big depth, we can't have Budke gunning threes in conference play, but if DJamer can stay healthy and play 33-35 min/g we're going to win 9-12 conference games.

sneaky little out there.
-
i think mir doubled down sometime in conference play.
-
I was probably similar. I didn't anticipate a collapse this bad.
-
Who could? It would take a wizard of sorts to predict it.
-
I feel like I'm one of the few who truly believed oscar was capable of this kind of failure this year. A failure great enough to get him fired. Sometimes irrational belief pays off.
-
600 career wins for LON. I don't really care all that much that he left us for Florida. He's been a good coach and solid guy in a field that has a lot of sketchy characters. I'm kinda proud of him.
-
i think mir doubled down sometime in conference play.
I actually didn't, I gave myself another out. Right before conference play started, in a prediction thread or something, I said the team is talented enough to make the tournament but I'm not sure i trusted the coaching staff.
Please someone find that one.
-
I am probably a wizard. I predicted oscar's future as soon as it was announced that we hired him. I wish I could tell you "I wish I had been wrong," but I have really enjoyed being right about this.
-
Didn't any of you pay attention to the Illini fiasco? This entire Weber era has been a downhill slide, slow steady Chinese water torture type breakdown. Weber is not a head coach, maybe an assistant, but not a head coach. He didn't even have control of his best team with Angel and Rodney and the crew left over from Frank. They played for themselves, not for Weber, and they might have gone past the first round if not for oscar.
For anyone to be surprised at this outcome you must have had race horse blinders on

I hadn't even seriously considered the possibility of this team making the tournament until MIR said it was 100% a tournament team. He usually doesn't say crap like that lightly so I'm leaning towards believing it.
Let me couch that a bit. I think we have the talent to be a tournament team but you can make a very strong case that oscar's teams have underachieved every single year he's been here. If this team does that, we're out. I don't anticipate 4 losses to OU, Texas, Tech, and TCU but if we do we're boned because I don't think we're sweeping KU, WVU, Baylor, or OSU.

Good call bud, not many saw this happening, the support was kind of suffocating.
-
i guess i was wrong. i looked through most of january and only found this. mir posts a lot of posts.
if we turn out to be good, i will be pissed. otherwise, it is what it is. my guess is we ride this to the nit.
I'm ready to bet someone we'll make the tournament. I haven't clownsuited all of Seattle yet if you want some action.
i'm not going to bet against us to make the tourney. i'm just saying i think we played over our heads and are still a fringe tourney team. you can also go eff yourself with whatever is left of of sys's 30 no tourney fingers. probably about 8 rn.
We didn't play over our heads, I absolutely positively guarantee you that will be our worst defensive ppp BY FAR this season.

Pro tip: no one is really surprised.

It's just one of those things where I guess you'd have to be kinda of a fool to expect otherwise. I am sure you understand.

I get the oscar trends.
But no one really thought we'd win the league in year one. Come on.
And after the start to this year, I didn't see this level of collapse. He did it before, I get that, but we just lost by 30 to the worst team in the league. oscar is blaming the media. The players won't talk to the media. I didn't think he would possibly surpass what he did at Illinois.
-
but we just lost by 30 to the worst team in the league.
today was ridiculous. beyond ridiculous.

We all thought they would be top 3 in year one. I believe you too thought we were quite talented at the time. It's not a huge leap to tie for the league, is it?
-
I thought we would be a good, NCAA team. No, I didn't think we'd tie for the league title.

Right, well no one besides KU expects that, but if you believe a team is good enough to be top 3 you can't be shocked at sharing a title with KU.

The first 30-point game in the B12 this year. And to one of the worst teams in the conference.

Regardless, congrats on being right.
Hopefully we make a positive change.
-
they were a kp 23 team the year previous and a kp 27 team the titletown year. tying for the title had a lot more to do with what the rest of the league did than about how good that team was.
-

Hopefully we make a positive change.
Thank you!
I hope, for you, that we do make a positive change. However, I do not really care anymore. Until Currie is gone and we have a non-army boss type president, I see no point and don't really feel sad about it at all anymore. I accept what K-State really is.

Anyone will be better than oscar at this point.
Wooly was at least likable, even with barely sniffing postseason in 6 seasons.

I totally agree. I liked Wooly a lot as a human.

btw, lol @ iwu and DJamer.

On one level I agree, but on another level oscar's hire and tenure have done serious damage that will damage the candidate pool and has also taken away enthusiasm for the program by fans. That just makes the next coach have an even tougher job.

Not only this but that title swayed no one. I'm pretty sure the overwhelming reaction was to point out his first year at Illinois. It wasn't like "yeah we won, it's going to be different this time with oscar."
-
Well, we did lose in the first round in KC as a 4 seed, so that was a jarring end to TitleTown.
-
MIR, which "we" are you talking about. gE main stream, GPC types, average K-State fans, etc?
-

Yeah. That was pretty awful, especially being in attendance.
-
Marcus provided a respite of hope, but then oscar even ruined that.

Limestone and I had Lasalle donor seats. It was terrible.
-
Would be happy to see this team hapless the last couple games. Not just for my predicto.
-

gE, I guess, I don't really know anything else as it relates to how a K-State collective thinks.
-
15 FGs. 17 Turnovers. It's really over, isn't it. It's finally over.
Happy trails oscar. I tried to give the benefit of doubt for so long....
But at last.... Good day.
I just hope our top Frosh/Soph stay for 2017-18. I think we can be special bin 2018-2019 season.
-
Am I crazy for thinking our roster for next year is decent for a coaching candidate to look at? Stokes, Brown and Xavier are something to be excited about? Please? Someone?

Welp that roster has lost 8/10, so I don't think it is that good

It's not terrible. I think with the proper motivation and schemes they could pretty easily finish in the top half of the league. I think we've got one open scholly, probably at least one more defection in a coaching change. Juco post and point would most likely be top priority for the new guy. If he filled those spots well, then it could be a perfectly fine situation to step into.
-
Top properties to keep are Sneed, Wade, and Stokes. JMHO.
-
Whoever we want to keep will stay. Ask Angel and Leti.
-

Stokes can't continue to play point though. I'm all for him getting minutes over The Flush, but we've got have a different solution at lead guard.

I agree, I'm just all for keeping a shooter.

I question any player that chose to play for this operation.

What am I missing

I think the roster next year is certainly capable of making the NCAAs with the right coach. We need to add bigs and a true PG to compete for anything bigger though.

Well if you trust this staff that Diarra kid is supposed to be a stud. And hopefully that Love kid is legit.

Can we keep Cartier too? Even if it's just to look adorable on the bench.

Still honestly not getting it. Weren't they both released?

yes. which is the point wetwillie was trying to make - there are no guarantees that current players will stay when a new coach is hired.

Got it, if that's what he meant it sailed 3 miles over my head.
