Title: oscar's contract
Post by: AppleJack on February 02, 2017, 12:14:32 PM
Does this bozo have a big buyout? I think his contract runs through the '19 season so I guess Curry could retain him w/o another ridiculous 1yr extension.

I believe it is $2.5 mil. (the buyout)

This team will lose to Baylor by 15-20 Saturday... then they will beat KU Monday, oscar will get a contract extension Thursday morning.. then they'll lose to WVU by 25-30 next Saturday.

It's going to be an entertaining next 10 days.

He's lost this team, if they fire him now and let Lowery be interim, I think this team could come together and win some games down the stretch. And dipshit ADJC would use that as a showcase for Lowery and sign him up full time like a dumbass.

Did you need 5 years to know about Huggins? Frank? Did the Squawks have to wait 5 years to know about Roy or Self?

There is more to basketball than seeking to "have fun watching their games."

What do you mean "keep?" The last time he was extended he had two years left, I'm sure you've heard a million times about the perils of recruiting on a one or two year deal. If oscar didn't get extended we almost certainly wouldn't have any of the freshmen and sophomores on this team that people enjoy watching.

Sorry for not following the hive and not making some joke about Currie :curse:
Title: Re: oscar's contract
Post by: Trim on February 02, 2017, 10:37:35 PM
Each of his 2 extensions happened after 1 year of the 5 he had on his then-deal.  Barring an in-season extension, this off-season will be the first time he's only had 2 years remaining.

Section 3.01(a) in each.

It does mean though that if not in-season, this summer we have to LOCK HIM UP.  It's one thing to have a vocal minority of fans calling for his head.  We can't have mid-majors across america negatively recruiting by claiming he's on the "hot seat" w/only 2 years left on his deal.

what if we could renegotiate the deal so that we're paying him an adjustable amount based on totals wins, though?  something like a 100k per win base, with a 100k per win bonus for all wins over 15 would probably be fair for both weber and the fans.

How about this:
200K for top 25 wins.
150K for wins vs 26-50.
100K for wins vs 51-100.
75K for wins 101-200.
50K for wins 200+.

i love it.  let's just tweak it a little higher on the quality scale.  250k for top 25s and 0k for 275-s.  some get him locked up with this.

wait, here's an even better idea.  he gets 300k per win - the defeated opponent's end of year kp rank.  so 299k for beating the kp champ and he owes the university 30k for beating the 330rd team.

I have to admit my intellectual and sophisticated side of my brain is still supporting oscar, but the caveman reactionary crass side says flush it before it becomes alive forever.  If you want a change, you have to let General Myers know your thoughts.  He knows about the glory days.  He was in school when we beat KU regularly.  Curdog could.care less.

Cooling off

oscar Weber, Kansas State Wildcats

Fans in Manhattan were frustrated by the last two seasons, in which the Wildcats were 32-33 overall. But Weber went dancing in his first two seasons at K-State, and the program is 15-7 this season, 4-5 in Big 12 play. He has a chance to get back to the tourney with a strong finish.
