Nominations will be considered as well.
To me the key aspects of a comparison are
-on the hot seat at current school or recently was
-mediocre record with some past success
-currently at a school with worse program than Kstate, but still power 5
-retread city, no enthusiasm generated
-Kstate coaching tree through someone who doesn't care about Kstate
-inherited some success and promptly started a long nose dive

None of those choices accurately reflect oscar's suck.

i believe ron zook is as close as it gets
Championships
1 SEC Eastern Division (2003)
Awards
Big Ten Coach of the Year (2007)
Overall 57–65
Bowls 1–3
-
Ferentz completes a Weber cycle every 8 years or so and starts over.
Zook is also a good choice
-
Mark Helfritch?
-
Mark Helfritch?
Yes! This also includes the apparent infighting going on within the team.
-
We need someone who's mentor used to play at K-State, but that person gives zero shits about K-State and is incredible ugly/bad hair. Gary Patterson have anyone like that under his tree? Obviously Fuentes doesn't count.
-
Marty Schottenheimer? Mike Riley?
-
Concussions
-
Mark Helfritch?
I thought about including him, but there would be much more enthusiasm and I am not even sure he gets fired.

This one jumps out at me.

Jim Grobe
John L Smith
No. John L Smith has too much scandal and Grobe is performing well.

Changed my mind after I looked at his actual record.

That is good, but more like a Jim Woolridge hire because of the current NFL gig. Also the rumor would inevitably start with thinking that we were getting Mike Macarthy for some reason.

The answer to this is Mark Stoops

may I please submit Kevin Wilson for consideration.
lacks any real success, but hits most all of the other points. also part of the Stoops tree which makes him close to a Keady-like protégé, which I think has to be considered a big factor.

Paul Rhodes
-
I updated the criteria, yes I think we should announce a winner

oscar performed really well his first year at KSU

This thread is doing curries job for him. What's john getting paid for?

It's cheaper to pay the one man rather than all of us.

Ok thank you. I would like to remove Kevin Wilson from consideration as well as Bob Davie.
-
Dan McCarney
not a perfect fit, but was under the Fry tree. Ended up getting canned in 2015 by UNT, so not power 5. This task is becoming hard, yet fun, yet depressing.
-
The thing that was a big selling point for a lot of folks with oscar is he got as close to a national title as you can without winning it before starting his slide. Makes guys like Tuberville, Chizik, and Mahlzahn (if he got fired) top similarities. All Auburn guys! Also the Oregon coach.
-
Les Miles and Mark Richt would be similar, but got fired from clearly better programs unlike oscar.

true, but we heard how big dumbass Keady was involved in the deal. we probably won't find a perfect candidate, but again, depressingly fun!

Sonny Dykes maybe in a couple years.

Dennis Franchione

Can confirm

Paul Johnson is the only one of these dudes in danger of getting canned this year and he also would never ever have us in NCAA trouble. He also has an offense and work history that would give the tucks the justification of accepting the hire.
All of you guys picking dudes that have been out of work for a decade, or picking non P5 coaches, clearly don't get the game.
-
Tuberville seems like he could be in danger. Not really a P5 though.
I think the lesson is that oscar's hiring was unprecedentedly bad.
-
Tommy is fine, he's been
9-4
9-4
7-6
3-3
at Cincinnati
I love this website http://www.coacheshotseat.com/CoachesHotSeatRanking.htm

rich rod is going to get fired, just a matter of when
-
Currie looked that guys number up at 1:16pm today.
-
wait Muschamp is the coach at South Carolina? WTF?
Him
-
Dana Holgerson at 118? Seems WAAAAY too un-hot despite their early success beating shitty teams this season
-
wait Muschamp is the coach at South Carolina? WTF?
Him
Muschamp hasn't had nearly as much success as oscar has.
-
remember when Muschamp was the HCIW for Mack at Texas? guess it couldn't have turned out much worse.

Why in the world would you not include Kill.
-
Mark Mangino
-on the hot seat at current school or recently was (he was on hot seat at ISU)
-mediocre record with some past success (Orange Bowl!)
-currently at a school with worse program than Kstate, but still power 5 (no, but last school was P5-ish)
-retread city, no enthusiasm generated (yes)
-Kstate coaching tree through someone who doesn't care about Kstate (I helped build it, I can tear it down)
-inherited some success and promptly started a long nose dive (didn't inherit success at KU, started the nose dive for sure)
-
You also need to include that the coach has to be completely clean. Total milk toast.

Kill is a Currie dream, super clean, recruits high schools, super white, a super average 49-45 lifetime Division 1-A record. The West side sit down crowd would Kill 4 Jerry

Zook is also a good choice
How come Ferentz wasn't on the voting chart? I think this personifies it. What a cush job that guy has. Not expected to win the conference and makes over $4 mill.

I'm guessing Ferentz isn't an option because he got a lifetime contract literally last month.
-
Mark Helfrich, although he probably won't get axed this year. Made national championship team with previous coach's players and program then program starts a steady decline. Does that sound like anyone?

That is worse than hiring oscar Weber to coach your basketball program, imo.
