That place reeks of chewing tobacco and rotting gums. Godspeed to anyone who attends the game. Get your shots, friends.
-
Also, they tried to copy big bro KSU and made some 'stadium upgrades' that included adding running water to bathrooms and installing an extra Mr. Pibb machine

shitlord would be a better name for this suicide magnet

Friend of mine who lives in Calgary studies the origins of words and stuff like that. Anyway he said that the person who invented the Oklahoma football field comes from a history of people who worshiped a "happy God," but that everyone always thinks of "gay" in the homosexual sense and it's just not correct. To Americans, it sounds like they were people who worshiped homosexuals, but that's not the case. That's only that way to everyone in this day and age, because we use they word "gay" different now. Blew my mind.

Absolutely disgusting that in all of their stadium upgrades, they've neither made it more bomb-proof NOR have they replaced the playing surface that led to this 23 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRcHwRpjxD4
They are trying to injure charles jones
-
i've heard the happy god theory before, sorry but i'm not buying it

Toby Keith's I love this bar.

I would absolutely die to have jerry lawler call this game.
-
Fun fact about OU: Their celebrity fans on the sideline every game include Dog the Bounty Hunter, and the guy who played Boner on Growing Pains. Take a good hard look and you'll see them.
Edit: I might be thinking of skippy from Family Ties.

I was at this game. I think they fixed the tear in that ratty turf with duct tape for the rest of the season.

I was at this game too! It was against Colorado. I went to high school with the girl that was riding around in the front of the Schooner.

It's an even year
Cats beat Gaylord, Giants win
Which one will happen?
-
who wins might depend on if the gaylords are at the game? :fatty:

To the OP:
The official name is Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium
I highly recommend going to the game this weekend because the new renovations are pretty incredible.

sounds like a massive shithole, unlike LHC Bill Snyder family stadium. oklahoma is such a joke of a program AND state. but ya, gaylord is a great name for a football stadium. thanks for the clarification.

is that a real picture? insane looking renovation.
-
Gaylord stadium is the new stadium in the Big 12 with a giant ass jumbotron in one endzone and a minitron in the other. Glad we relinquished that honor to them.

maybe something's wrong with my monitor, looks like the new upper, upper, upper and upper decks are leaning? doesn't look safe, but again could be the angle that pic was taken from
-
It's not an illusion. Unfortunately, engineers in Oklahoma were not prepared for all of the recent seismic activity. That stadium will probably fall into itself within the next 5 years.
-
that picture can't be real.
-
anyone know if they have bathrooms up there? taking my son to his first road game this weekend, seats are in section 834. tia
-
maybe they secured it to make it safe but it doesn't look safe, that is why i was wondering if it was a real picture. but shooter jones seems like a pretty legit poster so i'm guessing it has to be real.
idk, just don't think i'd feel safe at gaylord stadium and also don't think that i can recommend any cat fans go to gaylord stadium. between the bombs and the unsafe appearance of the decks, it just doesn't seem to be worth it. sorry cats fans, save the "away trip" for a different stadium, not gaylord
-
Do you guys know why the dirt is red in Oklahoma?
Even it's embarrassed to be there.
LOL!

Too poor to close the ends.
-
I think it's just the angle of the pic, honestly. But I've never been, so I don't know.
What I do know is... I had a friend that was in OKC the weekend of their first game with the new renos, said he got a few free tickets at a Quik Trip, so he decided to check it out.
He sat by an OU couple that claims the renovation plans started because they wanted to keep up with the Joneses like LSU, A&M, K-State, etc. They told him when oil dropped, tho, they had to change their plans completely and pretty much half assed the renovations. Can confirm Gaylord is not worth it and would never support sending any of our #family members there.

Looks really dangerous. The entire team could be crushed when those things collapse (like after a local meth lab explodes.)

The jumbotron is the second largest in the NCAA...laugh all you want, but that board would look beautiful in the BSFS SEZ.
-
I've been to the tier below the top tier. It really swings in the wind. I commented on it and the engineer said it was designed like that, "like a skyscraper." I can't imagine what the top tier feels like. :sdeek:
-
This thread is out of hand... :bang:

I've been waiting for it to explode.
-
There's Ryder sponsored handicap parking right next to the stadium. :sdeek: :sdeek:
-
That thing doesn't look very ADA compliant. I also don't see any nets to catch an out of control wheel chairs, very out of date facility if you ask me.
-
OU has really missed the chance to use all the recent earthquakes as the scapegoat for the foundation/leaning issues that were caused by that bomb several years ago.
