TITLETOWN - A Decade Long Celebration Of The Greatest Achievement In College Athletics History => Kansas State Basketball is hard => Topic started by: Trim on May 05, 2010, 07:59:20 AM

MANHATTAN, Kan. - National Basketball Association trade talk is swirling with much of the chatter involving former Kansas State All-American Michael Beasley.
To that, the former Wildcat laughs as he says, "If it happens, it happens. Honestly, I'm hoping the league will put a franchise in Manhattan, Kansas. I could get excited about that."
But now, he repeats, "If it happens, it happens. No hard feelings for anybody. It's life. It's the game. Got to move on. I really don't want to leave Miami. I hope I don't get traded, but if I do, I've got to love life, keep living."
Beasley, who returned to Manhattan this week to see friends, just completed his second NBA season with the Miami Heat where he averaged 14.8 points on 45 percent shooting from the field (27 percent from 3-point range) and 80 percent from the line, plus pulled down 6.4 rebounds per game.
While his numbers were up from his rookie season - 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds - Beasley said, "The year was up and down ... not as I expected, but I'm getting better."
Overall, he added, "I'm pleased because I played hard and never gave up. But I'm not pleased because I was inconsistent."
With maturity always being an issue with Beasley, he now says, "It's like any job. You learn as you go. You don't go in knowing it all the first day. I'm as mature as I need to be as a 21-year-old living life."
"Don't expect nothing from me, and you'll be happy after every game. I'm tired of expectations," Beasley said of the pressure he's faced as a No. 2 pick in the NBA Draft and the mega-salary that goes with it. "I was supposed to be this. I was supposed to be that. I'm going to play basketball and be who I am."
Beasley was the No. 2 choice in the 2008 NBA Draft following his record-shattering freshman year at K-State in 2007-08 when he averaged 26.2 points per game and a nation-leading 14.2 rebounds per game.
"I love Manhattan and loved being at K-State, but it was a decision I had to make for a lot of people," said Beasley of leaving the Wildcat program after just one year. "I love my life now, but I do miss Manhattan."
The 6-foot-10, 235-pounder said he followed "every game" this past year and was the Wildcats' "tallest cheerleader."
"I followed them when they weren't ranked, to when they were No. 20, to when they were No. 5. Every night they played, I was paying attention," said Beasley, who would have been a junior this past season.
Gazing off into nowhere, Beasley added, "If me and Bill (Walker, who also entered the draft early) would have stayed around, we would have won the national championship."
Of this year's KSU team, Beasley said, "They played hard. They played hard on defense, grabbed all the rebounds and took charges. They played with a passion."
Turning to the current NBA playoffs, Beasley's prediction is that the Los Angeles Lakers will win it all, primarily because of Kobe Bryant, who along with LeBron James, he says, "... are the best players in the league, along with Ray Allen. Kobe is so good and plays with so much poise."
Pausing, and without being questioned on the topic, Beasley offered, "It's a level that I will be at some day."

I also got an e-mail in the last day or so that there'd be no GPC interview with this peep because they'd been told he was in town to relax and wouldn't be doing interviews. Gots to let the man get a pita. Guess Mike softened his stance for Janssen. :dunno:

Mike, hold your arms out as wide as they can go. That's how much I love you.

That's like the best recruiting tool, ever. Come to MHK, love life for awhile, get drafted highly, come back and chill with your peeps in the offseason.

Wow. It's all worth it isn't it guys?
Just for those handful of quotes.
That's pretty much what life is all about.
Awesome. Let's go get ice cream together.

Here's what I know, or THINK I know about fatty:
1. Dominates ksufans
2. Does not share the pessimistic views shared by goEMAW'ers (I believe he once made a thread about how we were going to easily win the Big XII North this year in football?)
3. Claims to be significantly overweight

Depends what you mean. I don't mean that he'll be posting like them, but that forever older posters will say "whatever happened to fatty" or "fatty was always the best poster until all these new guys ran him off".

he won't be allowed to retain laurels he doesn't continue to earn. agree with the nostalgia, but it will be more like "fff used to be the best in the biz, now sucks. sad, really...."

This thread makes me feel old
-
how old was fatty in his prime? College student?? :users:

It seems that having KSUFans go down as hard as it did sucked quite a bit out of Fatty. He was one of the biggest advertisers for that site (pre TP of course)
-
The Man, The Myth, the Legend.

I would like to introduce the theory that Fatty Fat Fat was not the sole author of the nearly 30,000 posts attributed to him on KSUfanz.com. Due to about three years of observation and some in-depth research on the matter, it would seem more likely that Fatty Fat Fat is actually a group of posters contributing under the same non de plume.
This would explain the schizo/bipolar nature of many of the threads (all of them) he posted in on that site. This would explain how was actually able to graduate and move to California despite obviously being in front of his computer refreshing KSUfans.com 22.7 hours each day. This would explain why he hated me so much on Tuesday's and we were bbsbffs on Fridays.

ya ya ya lets get fired up

I remember Some of my first posts, while Daris was telling I suck at this and that my posts are terrible- Fatty came to my rescue and told me to keep my head up and keep trying. I'll always remember the softer side of Fatty Fat Fat. :bawl:
What did he die? ----anyway that statment still stands dead or alive.
I always thought of Fatty fat fat as less a weight thing and more a herb thing :dunno:

yeah. i've been pushing this theory for a year or two now. no way that it was all the work of one single author. just not possible. the depth. the range. had to be mulitiple people working together.

so how would all these multiple authors just go away at the same time? that doesn't make sense at all. if fff was a composite, and then somehow the joint effort agreement came undone, you'd expect him to still be posting, but less frequently, and more consistently. not to just completely disappear.

Only thing that makes sense is that when the "joint agreement came undone" it took a violent turn and one FFF author murdered the other(s). That would explain the cross country move and the disappearance.
-
fatty was a very good poster. he just did most of his work on tigerboard.

that's a great point.

Wait, Ray Allen is one of the best in the NBA?? WTF Beaz.

Also explains the lack of videos. One of the victims must have been video maker Fatty. :frown: and also :surprised:

"I talked to Mike," Pullen said, referring to his former classmate, Michael Beasley. "The two weeks right before the draft deadline, Mike spent out in Kansas. We talked and he said if he could re-do everything, he'd have stayed all four years."

Agreed, my first trip to Miami was to board a Cruise, I was shocked it was such a crap hole.

If I was a miami fan, I'd hate beas too.

You know, michigancat was totally right for throwing that battery at Shings.

Yeah, he had cause. But, it also explains our falling off the DCA recruiting map.
-
"Our next caller is Fatty from Kansas City!"
Remember how he was so willing and wanting RP to take us to the promised land? Had to be a hard pill to swallow when it all came crashing down, he's just never been the same since.
-
the beasley wishes he would have stayed at k-state story was just talked about on PTI
-
What was said?
-
they didnt really believe him because he attended 6 different high schools and seems to them as a gun for hire. they said he doesnt seem like someone is happy and is always looking for change.

With all due respect to those fools, Beasley wasn't getting paid as much then as he is now. When somebody who has money says they wished they were doing something different, it's usually pretty sincere. Money can't buy manhappiness.

• Some people would view moving from Washington, D.C., to Manhattan, Kan., as a difficult transition. Not for Rodney McGruder. After three years in Kansas, he says he could see himself living in the Little Apple after he graduates.
