(I'm pulling from a couple books and articles here. This is meant to be informational.)
The Management of Savagery is a 113-page essay written in 2004 by an Al-Qaeda associated Iraqi named Abu Bakr Naji. "...it posits a world in which the superpower halo of the United States has disappeared and the Muslim world within the colonial boundaries known as the 1916 Sykes-Picot agreement has descended into chaos — “savagery,” as the author bluntly puts it."
TMoS is a manual intending to teach jihadists lessons from past failures and give a common vision for the future creation of an islamic state. It outlines stages of the jihadist struggle around a few main ideas:
Disruption and exhaustion: In which terrorist attacks damage the economy of enemy powers and demoralize their populations.
Management of Savagery: A phase of violent resistance with an emphasis on carrying out acts of highly visible violence intended to send a message to both allies and enemies.
Empowerment: The establishment of regions controlled by jihadists which can subsequently grow and unite toward the goal of recreating the caliphate.
Al-Qaeda's intellectuals believe that ISIS began the Empowerment stage much too soon and this is a main source of the rival faction's disagreement. They(this includes Bin Laden himself) have stated that the Disruption and Exhaustion stage will take decades.
I could go on and on but you can read the thing for yourself online.

There is so much evidence that terrorism is able to achieve its goals. What the eff are we going to do about it?
My biggest concerns are the curbing of individual liberties in an attempt to make everyone safe and that we will fly off the handle at some point and commit the next great genocide.

I wonder what the terrorist's take of the mass migration into Europe is. Biggest thing is to show Western culture/lifestyle is compatible with Islam and is the better alternative to years/endless bloodshed and instability and that any caliphate is as dumb as unicorn rainbows and would never function correctly(which is probably why Bin Laden is like slow your role ISIS).
They despise muslim "softness" as much as they do the Shia and the unbelievers and the Jews.

I feel like it's a race with Renewable Energy/The Internet's Atheism vs. Terrorists Acquire A Nuke

I really don't get how religion (any of them) is still a thing in 2016.

Arabs have never been any good at sports so they play religion instead.

Any religion, even the kind that Tyler Lockett thinks makes him score touchdowns.

There has been 5200 murders in the Us this year. I don't think these were in the name of a god; maybe crack. My God does not advocate killing. Without Jesus, I would be a meanace. Religion keeps the lid on savagery.

The world can handle the godless renocat problem.

i think he's just using religion as an excuse.

Np God. No religion. What then is the moral compass of the mananimal? Our human nature? Sounds like the religion of Humanism. The murdering in Chicago is a snippet of the world without religion. I suppose a police state could keep control and you would be okay if you worshipped the supreme leader or group. Are nonreligioners wanting N Korea and Kim Wunhung Lo?

How are gang shootouts tied to atheism?

How are gang shootouts tied to atheism?
My knee jerk response would be the loss of the moral compass. It has allowed for relativism, and some would claim rising sociopathy

lack of atheism is the only thing keeping reno from killing us all. by inductive reasoning, those who indulge in unrestrained killing are atheists.

Interesting post considering the OP.
OP? Sorry. I am a bit slow today.

This very vaguely reminds me, want to see prophets of rage on 9/10 if you'll be back by then?

You have to be one terrible person, maybe even sociopath, if the only thing keeping you from killing is a belief that you'll be punished in the afterlife.

I don't know who that is, but I will def be back by then. Bristol Bay season is relatively short compared to other fisheries in AK.

From Breitbart reports this killerguy dabbled in the homosexual lifestyle. I contend he hated himself and did this to work his way back into the grace of allah. Islums believe you work your way to heaven by doing deeds on earth and living a pious life void of certain moral sins sucb as homosexuality. If the reports are true he likely was trying to attone for his sin.

Morgan Freeman's quote on homophobes also applies to atheists/theophobia.

I agree there's a lot of shitty judgey ppl out there, in all different forms of life.

Sam Harris' podcast has been talking about the end of faith in the last month or so. I am only about an hour in so far, but he makes a pretty good point about religious moderates v religious extremists. Basically says that the mods are violating their religion greatly and are only identifying as religious because of tradition.
Ftr, I don't consider myself an atheist, I don't consider myself anything.

As an atheist, I have met the smug atheists you pointed out. From my perspective, I liken it to the kids that found out Santa Claus isn't real. "Can you believe, Jerry still believes in Santa" At the same time knowing before they saw mommy shoving presents under the tree, xmas seemed simpler, more enjoyable. Eventually they come to terms with it, realize what xmas is supposed to be about and the smugness dissipates. - I realize this analogy can be perceived as smug, but just putting it in the perspective of a non-believer.
I personally don't care what you believe as long as it makes you feel grounded with a purpose and you don't wrong others.
I'm not inclined to believe that being pious makes you a better person than someone who isn't or vice versa.
And then there are the ones that just believe they are smarter than you and complete d-bags. We all have them.
I would be remiss however, if I didn't mention the eye rolling I do when an athlete/actor/musician, etc... thanks God for their victory/oscar/grammy.

Pretty sure that you're an atheist in that case

Maybe. I don't think so, though.
