ITT, we name coaches that we would NOT trade oscar for.
**Has to currently be a head coach for a NCAA program **
I'll start.
Travis Ford.
-
Sampson. NCAA probation magnet.
That said, I'm not satisfied with BW. He needs to go.
-
Samson. 3 game suspension magnet.
-
Kim Anderson
-
Doc Sadler
-
Kim Anderson
This.

-
Frank Martin
-
Admiral Akbar (aka Trent Johnson)
-
oscar Pearl
-
Doc and oscar are about a wash imo
Kim Anderson is a good one
I'd take Sampson way ahead of oscar
-
Just about every coach in the SEC.
-
You people are short sighted. If you swap him with a terrible coach we would get a different coach even faster.

Yeah, but like, oscar is a huge dork/loser, but I actually hate Travis Ford.
-
Tubby Smith
-
I both do not like oscar, and think oscar is not a good high major D1 coach. So, it's difficult for me to identify other high major D1 coaches that I would NOT trade oscar for....because it's rare for me to both not like them AND think that they are not good high major D1 coaches.
-
No trade. oscar is what we get.
-
Travis Ford does a lot of the same things oscar does. I'd say that is a toss up. I don't want either of them though.
-
I would rather have Ford because he has better players. When you get rid of Ford, it's easier for the next guy.
-
"Bill Self.
He uses bad words when yelling at his players - not the 'right' guy for KState."
Sincerely,
John Currie
-
McDermott
-
Mike Davis (even tho he has a W over oscar)

this is a good one. i have no idea what kind of person leonard hamilton is, but his time at fsu feels very brucey. he's been there 14! years and has one sweet 16 and 4 ncaa bids to show for it. has them trapped in an unending competitive mediocrity.

There are lots and lots of mediocre coaches out there.
oscar has 12 postseasons, 10 NCAAs, and 3 Sweet Sixteens in 17 years of being a head coach; there are a lot of P5 coaches out there that haven't come close to that.
He just also has plenty of unlikable traits that hurt him.
-
I would rather had oscar than Tad Boyle.

He is a above average coach that is boring and not sexy.

In his last 14 seasons as a head coach he's been to 10 ncaa tournaments, won 5 conference championships and played for a national championship. There are maybe 12 other head coaches with that kind of success. The people on this board are either Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) or trolling.
-
He's really good at coaching teams he didn't recruit, like maybe best in the country at it.

lol fsd as long we're doing selective endpoints: in his last 21 big 12 road games he is 3-18 with wins over tech, the 0-18 tcu team, and ou (which mf singlehandedly won)

Do the last 10 years. Do those stats.

FSD, what part of those facts displease you the most?
-
Also, do you guys believe in "trends?" I do.
-
I mean LOL he counted two MVC titles...you can't make this stuff up.
-
Is there some kind of award for making the same I hate oscar posts over and over?
Such a weird amount of butthurt, and unhealthy obsession.
-
To pretend that he hasn't been exceedingly successful compared to his peers is a sad shade of delusion
-
He was nationally mocked on his way out of Illinois, and the only other school that wanted his services was College of Charleston. It's not just some segment of gE that thinks he has no value as a D-1 coach.
-
oscar's peers are the other big 12 coaches. He's clearly worse than Kruger, Self, Tubby, and Huggins (based on things like conference titles and NCAA performance). Drew has been about equal over the last ten years. Trent Johnson has the same number of conference titles and more NCAA tournament wins over the last ten years. ISU's guy is an unknown, and I guess Smart kind of is too, so you're left with one peer that oscar has been "exceedingly successful compared to" over the last ten seasons, and that coach is clearly a better recruiter who has played in more NCAA tourney games since oscar has arrived to KSU.

I mean, obviously, we were all cheering our asses off when he made that championship run with illinois and when he was winning those mvc titles. Why can't we, as a fanbase, be happy with that? Why should we want him to have a good program here?

This is pretty decent bullshit, and i appreciate that. I think his peers are other p5 coaches, but whatevs.

Now that Paul Rhoads got fired, Travis Ford is America's most hateable cfb/cbb coach.

Rhoads wasn't good enough to be most hateable.

I also dislike that oscar's team gets worse year after year.

the only people who watch college basketball that think he is an above average D-1 coach are whatever percent of KSU fans that do. unfortunately that's a pretty high percentage which makes me sad.
-
I've never met an oscar fan in person but I guess I'm not surprised fsd thinks he's pretty great
-
Remember at #nutPAK when currie told me oscar was better than frank b/c oscar had more career wins?

what kind of odds will you give me that oscar never wins a NCAA tournament game at Kansas State?

Lookie here goEtards. I'm not saying he's the greatest coach ever or that I even like him. I'm just pointing out that he's not the worst coach, firing him at this juncture would be I'll advised and unwarranted, and that history has shown he is actually a pretty good coach.
He is better than every other coach you dimwits pined for, including Frank. I understand I have put myself in the unenviable position of appearing to defend him, and understand you malice. That is all.
Honestly, the hate you have for him is the most hayseed type of gopo hate around, and that's that you can't stand he succeeded bill self. Big ole bwaaahahaha to you

I disagree. He was really awful, regardless of skill.

I think he was relatively average for Iowa State, in every way. Skills, personality, looks, ect.
-
Because we have to chase him. Because he's the hero KSU deserves, but not the one it needs right now, so we'll hunt him. Because he can take it, because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a Dark Knight giant dork.
That's what I keep telling myself when I think about Oscar as our HC.

All oscar has to do is beat KU again, tho. That is success at basketball at Kansas State.
-
Well, everyone is doing that this year
-
Can you imagine if oscar pulls the impossible and beats KU twice this year?!?!? He'll retire here.

I'm pretty convinced that we will beat them at home this year. Not even gE'ing

I think he gets them at home. Not gE'ing here!

If Oscar beats KU in Bramlage this year I will kill myself.

Now I have something to cheer for :emawkid:

I think we have less of a shot this year than we have in the last 5 yrs. That said, ku is super shitty, so who knows.

Agreed on both counts, but still think Perry Ellis and Selden dominate us and Frank Mason makes Stokes/Ervin/Edwards look like bitches.

Perry Ellis should be at kstate with josh gray, Marcus foster, semi, and Michael Jordan

Just about every coach in the SEC.
Based on what I've seen today I stand by this. Kennedy gave up. Anderson pissed away a 10 point lead vs Tech and had to go to OT. Barnes got worked by TCU in the 2nd half. Jones doesn't let the #1 pick touch the ball in crunch time.
