TITLETOWN - A Decade Long Celebration Of The Greatest Achievement In College Athletics History => Kansas State Football => Topic started by: massofcatfan on October 05, 2015, 04:25:49 PM

Mine has been OU due to their coach stealing/recruit stealing/signal leaking history. Thinking about switching to cheap-shot State in Stillwater.
(*KU does not count)
-
Texas Tech. Grossest fans, uniforms.
-
Gundy is cartoonish and definitely guns for our QB but it's hard to get over 2012 Baylor. :dunno:
-
ISU
Nothing to gain by beating them, everything to lose by getting upset.
plus the smell
-
I only like ut, ou, ku in a weird way, dont mind wvu, and root for the rest to lose in every ooc game (equal hate)
-
I get really excited to play everyone in conference other than ISU and KU. KU was a lot of fun back when they weren't the worst football program of all time. I'm sure ISU would be fun if they'd get their crap together, hire a real coach, and build their program. All in all, I like the conference, but I'd say I like playing ISU the least and wish we could just kick them out.

Baylor
-
Anyone EMAW with a brain in their head cheers hard for OU and UT when they are not playing the cats with the ONLY exception being a loss directly benefits KSU for a conference championship or playoff berth.
I have to say Baylor would be most hated but I reserve my most fiery hate for the teams that quit the conference.
-
OU, only Big 8/long term team we've played that still is good. Baylor #2 cause of 2012.
-
Ou
-
Baylor, and you all know why.
-
I'd probably say Baylor. Still mostly fair weather fans, have run through the Big 12 the last couple years and then embarrass the conference by inexplicably sucking it up against mediocre teams in bowl games, and I'm fairly convinced they are coached up to play dirty.
Also, even if none of that were true, they are in Waco.

Baylor DBs definitely hold more than any team I've ever seen before. They do it so much that refs have to change how they call their games. We could probably get away with it when we play them but our DBs aren't allowed to play aggressive.
-
While I agree that Baylor's fair weather fanbase is annoying, and that Tech's low class fanbase is annoying, my hatred is reserved for KU. TSC can kiss my ass. I live around KU fans. I work around KU fans. The arrogance and douchiness of KU fans puts to shame every other fanbase I've encountered. That includes Duke bball fans, Ohio St fans, and even Sooners and Longhorns.
-
Baylor because they're dog crap people.
-
Great question. This answer has changed a lot over the years. I will give you a complete breakdown.
I first became aware of Kansas State football as a thing in 1992. I went to games for years before that, but the stadium was mostly empty and for running around and pushing matchbox cars down the stairs and messing around with rabid Willie. I went through year by year and looked at the schedule and spent 5-30 seconds putting myself back in that year. Some patterns emerged:
Universal Rules:
It hurts much more when you lose at home.
It definitely hurts much more to get dominated physically, I never got mad at Texas Tech because of this I would just LOL/check out.
Baylor is the exception because of 1) what the did to us in '12 2) stupid Phil Bennett and his agro/cheap shot/hold/PI every play D
All things considered, it would be significantly more demoralizing to lose 42-0 to OU with Perine running for 250 than to lose 70-21 to Baylor with a bunch of TOs and quick strike TD bombs.
Other observations:
Until we beat Nebraska, that was the biggest game by far every year. Only when we fell back down did Nebraska re-emerge as the most hated team I wanted to beat/humiliate/root against in every other game.
Oklahoma basically took Nebraska's spot, but Colorado kind of took our spot and so Colorado really replaced Nebraska as the rival as we didn't play Oklahoma every year and we descended in to the depths of the Big XII North.
Only when we were elite in 2000 and 2003 did Oklahoma surpass Colorado, in 02 we didn't play them and in '03 it is only because of the Big XII title game that we were even able to sabotage them.
The mid-late aughts were dominated by losing to KU under Mark Mangino which was very unpleasant.
Nebraska leaving the Big XII and Bo Pelini (and our impotence against that disgusting combination) brought them back up to most hated
Oklahoma and Baylor are now the most hated with Baylor being the most likely continuing leader as Bob Stoops has mostly turned in to a parody of himself and we have beaten them enough to make it ok.

I dont think I hate any of the 9 other teams.

I dont think I hate any of the 9 other teams.
I agree. I wish the rest of the conference the best.
-
I pretty much agree with Kat Kid.
Nebraska was definitely my most hated opponent throughout the 90s until they left the league. I still enjoy seeing them lose.
I still enjoy beating KU and I don't ever want to see a close game with them again. I'll never be one of those people that hopes for them to get better so we have competitive games in football, I enjoy destroying them and seeing their program be one the Big 12's worst.
Of our two "knock us out of the NC game" opponents, I definitely hate Baylor much more. I never hated aTm much and I respected Slocum as a coach. I can't say the same for Baylor.
The rest of the league really doesn't matter much. I enjoy beating Texas and OU, but have never hated them. I suppose I didn't like Tech much when Leach was destroying us. I don't hate OSU or ISU. WVU and TCU are too new to care much about either way.

If you are being honest with yourself you absolutely hated Stoops/Venables/Mangino.
Gary Barnett? You never hated him and the Colorado Buffies with their fleece vests, their fresh from the slopes tans, their expensive European belts and sedans? They were everything bad about Texas, but they had a lurking inferiority complex that comes along with the nouveau riche that caused them to be aggressively aloof.
This guy!!!

Yes to both OU and CU for those reasons, but it never approached my hatred for NU.
-
KK are you saying which team you hated most at the start of those seasons, or the end? Because in 2001 at the start of the season I hated OU/NU way more than Colorado. Also, I'd put KU at the 2009 spot.
-
Texas tech from leach days.
Now? Ou/isu

ok well 2001 is NU, 2009 is ku, everything else is samesies for me

why KU in 09?

they had smoked us 3 straight years and were definitively better at football and it drove me nuts.
-
ok well 2001 is NU, 2009 is ku, everything else is samesies for me
going in to 2001 is clearly NU, but at the end of the season there is no way that you ever felt the same about NU they were completely demystified.
-
i have hated OU forever. probably always will. just a disgusting state

I guess when i think back on years it is in hindsight, you're probably right leading up to that season and game.
-
When people find out I'm a wildcat, they always make a ku reference. Gets old having to explain that Nebraska is the only rival I will recognize. We didn't have a good record against them, but that doesn't matter.
-
Hate on Baylor? They hate us cause they anus I guess......

That was quite a rant from bitb
-
It's kind of sad that now when they look back on the good times it's beating a 7-6 team with Chris Cosh running the defense.
-

Yeah. And it's like their best memory as fans from the last decade.

This belongs in my Nebraska is sad and pathetic thread.
-
i guess i just don't hate teams that have stuck around. my real hatred -- like, actual hatred -- is reserved for MU, Nebraska and A&M. they could've killed us. i would root for any current big 12 team over them.
of those three, i probably hate missouri the most, followed by nebraska, then A&M. although i think i derive the most joy from nebraska losing. maybe i hate nebraska the most. i've become a bit more detached from k-state sports than i was in my prime, but few things in my life make my blood boil like talking about conference realignment.
i hope KU sticks to their guns and never plays missouri again, but if they do, i'm going legitimately going to be a huge KU fan that day.

I meant to put it there, but I was on tapatalk.

i am both glad that Nebraska is terrible now and happy that Missouri has done pretty well

yeah, pretty funny Nebraska is in such a shitty division and can't do anything, on the other hand, it's also pretty funny that Missouri goes to the mighty SEC and instantly is wrecking the east.
-
The Baptists (although I'll admit that a little recency bias is involved here)
-
Beating K-State 5 years ago was Nebraska's biggest mistake.
R.I.P.
G.B.R.

I'm with you on Nebraska and Mizzou. However, CU and A&M to me are like some guy you went to high school with and see in the grocery store and can't remember his name. I don't hate them, I don't like them, I don't care about them. When we played A&M at sprint center last year it was like "meh, whatever"

Big 12 officials screwed NU at Texas A&M
this was the best part (because it came right after implying KK's point about NU fans being terrible losers was incorrect):
Afterward, Snyder, who’d run up the score on Nebraska in 2002 and ’03, insisted there was “no additional connotation’’ to his last game with the Huskers.
i mean, L oh rough ridin' L
-
Am I reading this thing wrong, or do they miss Bo Pellini?
-
that article is amazing. grats on smoking the plucky 2010 pinstripe bowl runner up.
-
Used to be KU, but hatred has changed to profound pity. Thinking KU fans pity us in men's BB.
-
Baylor for the past few years. Texas when they're good.
Mizzou can choke on a meth pipe.
-
Baylor b/c of their fans and AD.
-
Oklahoma, mainly because of that ridiculous Boomer Sooner song.
-
Nebraska was the one I always hated the most, but now I smirk at their failure. They aren't relevant enough to care about any more.
I hate Missouri and A&M for how they left. Just the hypocrisy and lies at A&M, and the sheer cluster at how the Missouri one went down.
I guess from what's left in the Big 12, it's probably Oklahoma State and Iowa State. OSU because I don't care for Gundy or how they've seemingly targeted our players, and ISU for the reasons Chingon listed.

that is so hard to wrap my head around.............they were so dominant for such a long period of my childhood........I never thought I would see this :'bye cruel world:

it still can be! :sdeek:
-
could you imagine a poll in this thread? wow. is it baylor or nebraska? who's the weirdo that chose TT?
what if we integrated a map of the results? does anyone have 42's number? wow. wow wow wow.

Cornhole'rs and it isn't even close

Irrational hatred is just of sports.
For example, I think its more irrational to hate Iowa State, but that's JMHO.

I don't even notice isu
OU is worthy of hate

I agree libliblibliblibliblib, should they have just lost to us on purpose? I live here and I don't hate ISU, I pity them.
When Nebraska was here I hated them and pretty much only them. Now I hate everyone and I think it's because there's no Nebraska to be played by other conference teams every week.
I hate the TCU posters we have here but that school and program are largely insignificant.
-
I don't like Iowa State. And since the Royals were losing all night I made this for some reason.

I disagree. The only reason I hate any team is because they beat my favorite team. For example, all baseball season long I was indifferent about the Astros but now I hate them. And if they win this series I will probably hate them next year. What other reason is there to hate a team besides their impact on your team?

That internet beat down brought to you by the good people at glade©

All the players being super ugly is a good reason
