I wish I knew cat fans...
It feels like the downslide, but I have been surprised before.
The ceiling for the foreseeable future seems to be hoping for a bowl game.
-
It feels like how the first Snyder era ended.
Good news though...coaching search! <3
-
2004 team without Sproles, 2005 team without Jordy, god that is not acceptable. Waters are calm, retirement please
-
Even if this is the downslide, we had a 4 year stretch with 38 wins and a Big XII title. That was pretty great, and worth it

Oh sure! I wouldn't argue hard against that. Bill II was a magical time.

Not similar at all really. This team is much better than 2004 and is (maybe) falling from much lower heights.

Ok
Good. Glad we agree.
-
Maybe has something to do with us down to our 5th choice at qb. I think we can be pretty good next year and going forward.
-
What concerns me is how important turning the program over to the right guy with a full cupboard is to Snyder.

This team would kick the crap out of that '04 team, they were so so so terrible.
-
I mean, it was only this spring/summer people on here were all juiced up about all of the great qb recruits and what was projected to be a stud defense.
-
do we have some defensive studs coming in to bolster our god awful defense?
-
I mean, it was only this spring/summer people on here were all juiced up about all of the great qb recruits and what was projected to be a stud defense.
and here we are knowing that
1) the QB recruits were obvs not very good
2) the defense is super shitty

They were complete ass. The Fresno State game was the first time I ever really became angry at the product on the field. The Kansas game was the worst experience I've ever had as a Cat fan watching a game in person.

Delton running Tom Herman's offense

You might very well be right, bit this team hasn't shown anything on the field to say this is true. We've only managed to beat a terrible FCS team, a very bad Conference USA team, and average Conference USA team at home in triple overtime. The only difference so far this season is a lucky FG in OT by a back up kicker
-

Hard to judge on the QBs imo. Defense has definitely been disappointing last two times out. Very disappointing. Nice to see the turnovers today tho. That should be the goal in this conference anyway, along with high pressure and forcing negative plays. The offense under Cook was a breath of fresh air I haven't seen in years from the Cats.

I felt like that first watching the Colorado game that season only to be topped by the Iowa State game. We won 2 damn conference games and in the mid aughts that was not good.

samesies. was in the band at the time, and we had to sit in Memorial Stadium for over an hour before getting on our buses. Was the absolute worst.
-
wait, changing my post based on MIR's memory. Watching the 04 KSU/Colorado game was the absolute worst experience watching KSU football in person
-
Today was mostly on the coaches and lack of adjustments. Oh, and the right side of the line. My favorite moment was Joe Bob giving a smile and hug to Kleinsorge as they walked off the field.

There is a huge difference in what you just described (plus today at OSU) and barely beating a 1AA team, getting your ass kicked at home by a fringe top-25 team (Fresno) to start the season.

The 04 game was at Boulder, the 05 game was another horrific loss to CU, that one was at home

I had already checked out by that point in the season.
-
The point is that this team has a severe lack of d-1 talent, but rah rah walkon
-
Seems more like the growing pains as we move from teams filled with JUCOs to 3 star high school kids we develop. Bill definitely wants a full cabinet before he retires again. A lot of young kids playing and a lot more getting ready to step in next year.

That wasn't even a good KU team, if we lose to ISU then we'll talk

Fair enough of course. Only time will tell. I would easily see us losing to a 4-7 ISU, Tech, or WVU

Pro-Tip: OSU ain't a Top 25 team. They are very average.
Don't moral victory this crap.

Not disagreeing with mismanagement of talent or lack of talent standpoints, btw. I'm also pretty furious at what our schemes have become.

Well they'll probably win eight or nine this year so that's probably top 25. Not a lot of good teams out there.

The only ranking that matters is at the end of the year. We were ranked #13 in 2004, so by that 2004 was a better team because this team ain't sniffing the top 25.

Yeah, they'll beat KU and have toss ups with ISU, Tech, and WVU; just like us. They are close to being the overrated dogshit I thought they'd be before the season started. They pulled horseshoes out of their asses to beat a shitty UT and whatever the hell we are.
Who would have thought that Tech would the fourth best team in the conference?

I'd be willing to bet they end the season in the top 25. I think you're melting down too hard.
-
I'm pretty frustrated. I was high on our d before todsy, but man that was brutàl.
The injuries are taking a toll; I'm now in the camp of "we are going to lose a bunch of close games this year."
Gd that was frustrating; osu is not good.

No freaking way they win 4 more games. 8 wins is their absolute ceiling.

I'm not sold on Tech. Their defense is abysmal and they're demoralized after these last two games. I think they're close to imploding.

OSU has a decent change to grab two non ISU/KU wins.

I want to see what Tech does against ISU next week. If they blow them out then maybe they've taken a step forward but I have a feeling ISU keeps it close.

While it's indisputable that our talent level is not where it should be, this is nowhere near comparable to how bad the end of Snyder I was. I'd also argue that the majority of the best talent on the roster right now is in the FR & SO classes. There's still holes that need filled and a lot of developing to do, but it sure seems talent and raw athletic ability wise the needle is moving upwards.

Snyder coming back and trying to recruit was embarrassing. We made adjustments 3 years ago and got to a reasonable level. But this staff probably needs 1 more recruiter.

So where will we be after 5 straight maybe 6 straight losses?
-
i was wrong about OSU
-
Maybe this shows you can't establish long term success in a P5 conference based on walk on who play the "right way" and supposed fundamental play. This is a nose dive that basically renders the previous 4 years of success as meaningless.
KSU, as a program, hasn't been in this bad of shape in a very long time.
-
People talk about the new facilities, but I can't help but wonder what kind of coach we will get. Absolutely no positive reason for anyone to coach here right now.

lol no. Tucks think this is a top tier job.

Success in cfb can be very fleeting. In the matter of one year we have essentially sunk to the level of KU football. Our programs are level at this point in time. Amazing.
-
All I hear from them is "no one else would come here anyway!". I think you're too far removed from the tucks.
-
the 26 million dollars we have sitting in that mahogany box is kind of a positive. having delton, banks, skylar thompson as your qb depth is a positive.
-

Not that I want to argue, but we have zero proof that any of those guys can play football. I'm starting to assume any player recruited by this staff sucks balls and taints.
-

Banks will never play QB at KSU, and I have no concrete facts on my side, but I don't think Delton is going to play QB at KSU either.
In any case, the talent level is even. We might luck out on snagging a good HC, but who knows.
-
All I hear from them is "no one else would come here anyway!". I think you're too far removed from the tucks.
I understand. But they want the staff to stay. I still want them to leave regardless of who we get. I'm just having a hard time seeing anyone worth a crap wanting to come here. Career suicide.

This is the most depressing thing about this year.
-
You can get good pretty quickly, too. I don't think our roster is that bad, we have a combination of poor management of the roster and poor coaching.
-
This is classic Iowa State right here!

classic 2015 kansas state

Why aren't we running it?! Fuuuuuuuuuuuu....

Near the end, as the dumpster fire was beginning to get out of hand. Proud Paul buzzed the benches (giant hallow plexiglass benches heated internally by propane burners, i might add) and just got in their faces and yelled "Finish strong! Finish strong!" then walked off. Grade B- pep talk iyam.

Pretty sure they're still solidly a top 25 team, can never be too sure we'll wait to see if they fall 20 spots though
