Who starts at QB?

Unfortunately, I think Ertz will probably start the opener.

Have you ever killed a cow and how long until delton starts?

I have not. I think we will have to wait until 2016. (I think he will redshirt)

Who is our fattest skill pos player?

Good question. I'll wait for 'clams and his All Burner Team but I would say that Barnes and Heath are probably the top two.

Who makes up TLBL's lost production?

Nobody stat wise. I think we will see a major shift to a more running oriented offensive game plan. But I think Kyle Klein is probably our best WR going into the year.

I'm really hopeful that Andre Davis can contribute.

What's the first meal bill eats in his office?

Cheesy Gordita Crunch.

How many games will Mac be hanging out on our sideline?

???

how close does ku come to winning a big 12 game this year?

Not very. I would bet they aren't within 10 points of winning a Big 12 game.

which head coach gets fired first in the big 12 this year?

Stoops if I had to say fired. But I think Gundy would be a decent bet to go take another job

How many blocked punts does our special teams get this year?

3

Who is the Most underrated team in all of D1 college football?

Good question. I'll throw Arizona State out there as my pick.

How do the assistant coaches feel about LHC Bill Snyder's desire to have Sean replace him when he retires?
Title: Re: College Football AMA with cas4ksu

How do the assistant coaches feel about LHC Bill Snyder's desire to have Sean replace him when he retires?

I would guess that Dana Dimel is less than thrilled that Bill is being vocal about Sean taking over. It has been reported that Dimel has had the opportunity to take HC jobs since he has been back as the OC but has turned them down because he is happy with his current job, likes MHK , etc..

I don't buy it.

I'm sure he sees the bigger picture and knows that he is the most attractive HC candidate currently on staff in terms of previous HC experience. He'll be a name that will be on the list whenever Bill decides to retire.

When do the alternate unis get in?

Another good question. I think it's safe to say that won't happen when Bill is coaching. I'll say by 2018 we have some new unis.

I also think is Sean were to take over down the line that he would make some changes to the current uniforms.

If Sean becomes head coach, will he let any of the present assistants go?

I would guess no. Usually when someone is promoted from within and the outgoing coach isn't going to another college program, the new HC tries to keep the status quo.

I don't think anyone on our staff other than Coleman and maybe Blake Seiler would get overtures from other schools. I would guess that Latimore and Del Miller will retire near or around when Bill does.

So in this scenario, Sean would have to make coaching hires but not because he gave the axe to anyone on the current staff.

Title: Re: College Football AMA with cas4ksu
Post by: cas4ksu on July 24, 2015, 10:23:43 PM
who wins the 'ship this year in the big 12?

Prediction: TCU. However, I think that everyone in the Big 12 will have 1 loss. It'll come down to the Baylor @ TCU game, and while I think Baylor is the better team with the game being at TCU I think the Frogs will benefit from the home field advantage.

Betting Pick: Oklahoma. I think they have decent value @ 5-1 or so.

Long Shot: Texas. Have a pretty managable conference schedule. Open up with vs. Okie St. Then @TCU and with OU at the Cotton Bowl. Get a bye. Then have vs. KSU, @ISU, vs. KU, and @WVU. (could be favored in all of these games) Then another bye. Home with Tech and then 9 days before going to Baylor.

I think that UT will probably be a 7-5/6-6 type team, but I think Strong is a good coach and their schedule sets up alright for them. As a long shot, that would be my pick.

Ok. So you can cross of Snyder, Kingsbury, Stoops, Gundy right away.

So that leaves GPat, Briles, Strong, Holgo, Rhodes and Beaty.

I think from that group of six, Strong and Rhodes are your two best bets.

I'll go with Rhodes.

there is a national coaches party, all the D1 coaches are there. after the party is over there is a meeting of just big 12 coaches. they are all sitting at a giant round table chatting it up, and sean walks in with Bills chalupa supreme and says that someone dropped their rubix cube on the floor during the convention and throws it on the table.

which coach is most likely to try and solve it, and which coach actually solves it?

I'm always hesitant to have high expectations for a new HC entering a P5 league with no head coaching experience, much less no offensive or defensive coordinating experience.

But I think you can make a case that his experience learning from Pops and his time at K-State is just as valuable as coaching experience at a higher level than ST coordinator.

Sean wouldn't be my first choice as a HC. But he might be second or third.

If Sean can keep the "old school" mentality, coach 'em up, #Family thing like Bill has done but sprinkle in some more modern aspects stuff (ie: uniforms, marketing type stuff) I think that would be a damn good option. And realistically, that option is the best we could hope for.

Ok. So problem solving skills are being put on display.

That eliminates: Holgo, Beaty, Rhodes, KK, Strong, Stoops.

I would bet that Gundy says he will give it the old college try, but I bet Art Briles is the one to solve it.

Hmm...

I guess it all depends. If Rhodes were the HC at TCU would they be the same 10-11 team. My guess. No.

I think Snyder would fare well in this scenario. Snyder with ISU's roster? Bowl team. Snyder with UT. Confy champ?

Bottom line: The best coaches would be fine. I think Snyder and Patterson would be best, however.

how would you rank our defense going into the fall?

I think it is definitely a top 4 defense in the Big 12.

But here's my issue with everyone talking about how our defense will be what carries us to 8+ wins. Does the experience returning really matter that much?

We play such a soft, bend but don't break scheme that all of our experience in the secondary goes to a bit of a waste.

Two senior CBs. Still playing soft 10 yd cushion at the line of scrimmage. Letting TCU and Baylor just pick up 7-10 yards whenever they want to.

If our secondary is as good as a lot are saying it is, I would like to see a change in philosophy from Hayes and start being more agressive on defense.

Tradition wise: Hard to argue with Alabama-Auburn. But give me Michigan-Ohio State. That's going to be a great rivalry for the next 10+ years. (I love Jim Harbaugh)

Viewing pleasure: TCU-Baylor. If you told me I could only watch one game this season (non KSU) then this would be my pick.

Great question. I'll say:

Jones, Leverett and Warmack.

In that order. I think Heath and Barnes will probably redshirt. Coincidentally, those are the two that I would most like to see what they can do but it's probably better to save the year of eligibility.

Hmm.

I think the Heisman went to the right person in each of the last 10 years.

Manziel over you know who?

Hmm. The only argument I can really get behind that CK deserved it more than JFF is that JFF didn't have great numbers against ranked teams. When JFF beat Alabama (@) and Klein had sluggish games to close out the season, the Heisman was pretty well decided.

I will say the CK should have finished second that year.

Do ypu think bill has at least one big 12 coach of the year type year in him?

Yes. No doubt.

Hi Scott City, friend. How many wins do we get this year? Also, how many carries will Warmack get this season? TIA

I'll hold off until the OFFICIAL season predictions thread, but I'll tease it a bit and guarantee that we will make a bowl game. How's that?

I think Warmack will get some time this season. I think there are about 3-4 RBs that will see carries, so if I had to pick a number for Warmack I'd pin it at 85.

I think he will probably be behind Jones and Levertte, so unless he moves past them it will be tough for him to get a ton of carries.

85 carries is a crap load for a third string running back.  :surprised:

We will almost certainly have a running back by committee this year.

It is, but with Leverette and Jones injury history I'm guessing they may miss some time.

Stoops, Snyder, Beaty, Gundy, and Holgorsen are going on a road trip. Who calls dibs on the aux cord and what does he play?

Do you think there was an appreciable increase in the on-field noise level after the WSC construction?  Do you think there will be any affect from Vanier 2.0?  How about Vanier 2.5?

At least 1. Probably 2.

Bros forgetting about Silmon?

I didn't forget about him. I just think that he will probably get passed up by the more experienced players on the roster. If he beats out Warmack than I would project he gets a decent amount of carries.

which big 12 coach has the best elevator speech?

Briles.

Stoops, Snyder, Beaty, Gundy, and Holgorsen are going on a road trip. Who calls dibs on the aux cord and what does he play?

Holgo. Van Halen. Bill bobs his head in approval.

I think Bill is a pretty nice guy. So I'll say Bill. Meanest- Gary Patterson.

I think it was a bit louder with the WSC than it was before. I just graduated in May of 2015 and the two loudest games that I can think of during my college career were '11 Baylor and '14 Auburn. Auburn was loud the whole game, whereas the Baylor game was loud at certain moments. I think the WSC helped keep sound in a bit better.

As for the additions to the north, I think it well help as well. I'm far from an acoustics expert but the less places the noise can escape the better.

Your nicest/meanest big 12 coach thing is completely backwards.  Bill might not be the meanest, but he's definitely in the bottom half of the big 12.

Patterson is the nicest.  Have you seen his twitter?

It's like no one even watched the spring game. I was more interested in starring into Gronk's dreamy eyes and crushing brews than paying attention and even my dumb ass could see he was by far the best RB on the field.
