I am cheering for these kids super hard. When was the last time a super blue blood went undefeated?
Also, Coach Calipari just seems to do it the right way.
-
They are a joy to watch. I will tune in from start to finish for each of their contests
-
I'm jealous of them and will be selfishly rooting for them to lose, but I probably won't watch the games because it will just make me mad.
-
UK is so fresh.
-
Hey Limestone, I went ahead and looked it up and apparently Indiana in 1976 was the last blue blood to go undefeated.

I will crunch the numbers but that's almost 40 years ago. It might be the most impressive feat in basketball.
Plus, Cal is just like a father to those kids. Wins with class.
-
Also showcases his guys so they can get paid, rather than trashing them and trying to keep them on the plantation for their massa for another year or two
-
I swoon for them super hard! Plus, it would probably piss off Bobby.
-
Coach Cal reminds me a great deal of Pope Francis.
-
One time KSU silent commit willie cauley stein plays for UK so I like them for that too
-
they are the definition of class in all the NCAA, so i will cheer for them very loudly
-
I am thinking of signing up for one of Coach Cal's mission trips to Central America. Buddy of mine went with Coach to Honduras, they did a lot of good work down there.

refreshing honesty
-
J-Dub bought a kentucky shirt today. dri fit. he looked great.
-
i got mine yesterday at wal-mart :driving:
-
They should make final four. Willie makes it a little easier not to put out the total hate banners. Notre Same and WV might give them hell. Sorry KU will never even get to smell UK. To think KCats did not make the tourney.

Thanks renocat, please don't muck up this thread though.
Did anyone hear coach Cal's presser yesterday? He loves his players so damn much. If I had a son who could play college basketball, I'd love for him to play for Coach Cal.

Or even just walk-on or be a student manager. Just such great life lessons.
-
These Hampton kids are gonna be telling folks for years they played against these Kentucky Cats. #jealous
-
Coach Cal should be in the HoF now. What an amazing coach. By far the best coach in college basketball. Kentucky also has a great basketball fans...and probably the best in the nation. I mean to fill 24k seats every game is just crazy.
-
Here in NC, the rumor is that Dean Smith was wearing an "I heart Coach Cal" shirt when he was buried.
Gonna win 'em all!

They also fill it for the HS bball tourney.

I guess the message was, "Born a Kansan, lived life as a Tarheel, but a Coach Cal fan for eternity. Quite the endorsement.
Gonna win 'em all!

watching the UK game, and this team is beautiful; its fun to appreciate good basketball. Willie is a stud deluxe.
-
Digging this Hampton squad. Moxie.
-
this is what it was like to watch UCLA in the 60 's probably.
-
Feels great to be sister schools with these stud muffins
-
Hampton scoring more points against UK in the first half than KSU did some games. Smh.
-

Yep. Nothing like watching a squad of 7+ ft future NBA lottery picks beat the crap out of Hampton to really highlight what good hoops is all about.

They are so rediculously good. This year's team seems way better than all of Cal's other teams

the front court is the best in the history of cbb but I don't love the guards. The depth is amazing but I think the 09 team Huggs beat in the e8 with Cousins, Wall, Bledsoe and Patrick Patterson might be a better 5

Wall and Cousins think so too.
-
the fact you can get this many kids to buy in and play team basketball just shows the quality of talent and person that Coach Cal gets. these kids want to play together and win together, not take money to get together, very refreshing.
-
Watching Coach Cal really teach and mentor the kids was my favorite part of the game last night.
-
Again, best defense ever. Probably.
That only comes from great coaching and mentoring and getting the absolute best from your players.
-
The size difference was very entertaining last night.
-
Watching their bigs rim protect and run the floor on breaks is a thing to behold. Harrison bro's are fun to watch too but watching their bigs is amazing.
-
Go Big Blue! Go Big Blue!
-
it would be weird to play on your rival's home floor. i bet louisville hates it.
-
Thisnisnthe best team I've ever seen. You just can't stop them. The defense is impenetrable.
-
they don't really drop off after the first five either. Foul trouble or injuries won't take them down.
-
Such good coaching

.78 points per possession allowed in their first two games while allowing only 33% on 2s. Crazy good.
-
WCS made probably the best decision of his life going to Kentucky and then probably the second best decision by coming back for this year.
-
Coach Cal is one of the top 10 best humans ever probably.

-
need an alley oop one too
-
they just continue to amaze
-

Can't help but like the guy. Easily the best coach in college today.
Question for the board: How are the Kentucky Wildcat fans? Classy? Knowledgable? Best in the country?
TIA.
-
Awesome team, top to bottom. Best ever whether they win the tourney or not?
-
every fanbase has their sour grapes, UK is no different. From the UK fans I have encountered, they are very knowledgable, intelligent, and generally embody the attitude of coach cal, grateful, appreciative, and have a great understanding of the history of the game. honestly its kind of refreshing when i interact with them.

Do they speak often about Adolph Rupp and Joe B. Hall?

Why would they need to? 4 of the last 5 years they have gone to the Final Four, like I said, they are very knowledgable and understand how CBB works.
-
Just wondering. Rupp and Hall were both implicated in, let's say, troublesome circumstances, especially Rupp. You can look it up. UK has a definitely checkered history.
That said, this UK team is simply amazing.
-
Rupp and Hall are not of the integrity that Coach Cal embodies, not even close.
-
Calipari is such a genuine mentor and class act, he is undoing a lot of the bad from Rupp.
-
Best ever whether they win the tourney or not?
yes and one of the best teams of all time regardless of sport. this is like the '27 yankees. i'll tell my grandkids about these wildcats.

This isn't even the best Kentucky team of all time. The 96 team had 11 NBA players and would beat this year's team.

Different era of college hoops. The teams they had to go up against were much better than the pud teams playing today.
-
that win/loss column doesn't lie. it's just incredible watching them make history with each game that passes.
-
Derek Anderson
-
This Kentucky team really demonstrating why the Wildcats will always have a seat at the table of Bluebloods alongside UCLA, North Carolina, Duke, and Indiana.
-
If by Indiana you mean Connecticut then yes I would have to agree.
-
i didnt
-
Kentucky is the premier Blue Blood.

Dumbass alert
The 20th best team of today would smoke the best team of 10 years ago. Athletes are bigger, stronger, and more talented.

I can't tell if you're serious or just gE'ing. The early 90s Duke and late 90s UK teams would destroy today's teams filled with 1 and done players. 21 or 22 year olds vs. freshmen is a huge difference.
-
I think it's hard to compare wins and losses of teams in college basketball. As an extreme example, if Kentucky actually plays better defense on the final possession, doesn't allow ND to cross half court, and ND throws up a prayer and it goes in, this Kentucky team doesn't go undefeated and doesn't go down in history. But since that obviously didn't happen, this team will probably go down as the best college team of all time. All it takes is small percentage shot going in to change history.

I generally agree, but the 96 UK denim Dans vs this UK team would be a great game. It would be a great seven-game series. This UK team does have some experience, and their sheer size would pose problems for any college team ever. It's just hard to match up with 7-0, 7-0, 6-11, 6-10 up front.
This UK team might also have 11 pros, and could easily have as many players that turn out solid pro careers. Lastly, the 96 UK team was well into the era of players jumping early or skipping college altogether.
This UK team is worthy of every bit of adoration that comes their way.
