The deciding factor for Selby was also coaching. He said Self can get him pro-ready.

"They run an NBA-type offense with pick and roll and pick and pop," Selby said.

"When I get to the next level I don't want to be looking around [thinking] this [system] is different. I'll already know it."

He won't even argue that.

We are better than ku in baseball too.

That depends on what you mean by solid pro.  More importantly what Self has done is cause kids draft stock to plummet.  By taking highly touted kids that should go pro at age 19, and turning them into burnout second round draft picks.  He costs them millions of dollars (opportunity costs for the years they waste in lowrents, and guaranteed money from 1st round selections).  Reprehensible behavior if you ask me.

The fact that Selby thinks Self will get him pro ready proves any of the following things:
1) he doesn't even remotely follow uk basketball,
2) he thinks Coach Cal coaches KU and not UK (would make sense considering the Car Battery IQ thingy and same letters),
3) he's a fool (for any myriad reasons beyond #2)

Either way, lets hope Turner prays for this kids sole, he's going to need all the help he can get.  It's just sad when kids make unfortunate life changing decisions that are obviously in the worst interest.  Like picking up a crack pipe and saying I'll try this once.

Gotta be a little bit fair to Bill Self on this one.  Selby sabotaged his own NBA dream right here:

Quote
At the N.B.A. Players Association Camp in Charlottesville, Va., Selby was approached by William Wesley, an influential power broker in college basketball circles, after a game. Wesley, who is known as Worldwide Wes and now represents coaches in the N.B.A. and college ranks as an agent, asked Selby, “Can you play?”

Selby said, “Didn’t you just watch the last game?”

Selby walked away, and Wesley, put off by the affront, was introduced to Selby’s mother after a later game and told her that her son needed to watch his mouth because he did not realize who he was talking to. He also advised her to hire a track coach to help improve Selby’s speed.

The deciding factor for Selby was also coaching. He said Self can get him pro-ready.

"They run an NBA-type offense with pick and roll and pick and pop," Selby said.

"When I get to the next level I don't want to be looking around [thinking] this [system] is different. I'll already know it."

Typical Ben mind trick.

Just a year ago K-State's athletic department was in a "Shambles" absolutely being left in the dust by ku's athletic program on every level according to Ben.   Rudderless, bankrupt, can't win anything.

A year later Mangino was canned and ku's football season was a complete disaster, firmly planting ku back as being the 2nd worst football program in the Big 12..  ku failed in the NCAA tourney.  All the other ku sports programs are mired in mediocrity.  The only coach Lew hired at ku until Gill has done nothing but bring up the bottom of the conference.   Lew's football coaching hire was the 3rd or 4th choice.   Lew admitted that expenses are out pacing revenues.   The huge facilities announcement was complete egg in the face for Lew Perkins.   The ku athletic department is under investigation by the FBI.

The athletic department in shambles went to the NCAA tourney in baseball and will likely go again this year.   The basketball program had it's deepest NCAA tourney run in years, the football program was 1 game away from playing in the conference championship game, and men's track team is nationally ranked.

Again, lets review.  K-State was in SHAMBLES one year ago according to you and Tardville.

Doesn't sound like he's buying into Seff's schemes of making guys stay longer than one year. But maybe Seff is better at Jedi Mind tricks than you are....

Not to mention I didn't attack Collins' ability on the court. Just his off court attitude, which did show up on court during games like, I don't know, UNI. Luckily it wasn't a game that really mattered or anything. So good job debating whether Selby is as cocky as Collins or not.

Give it a rest, hater.  K-State still owes Ron Prince over $6 million, and your program still can't even scrounge up enough money to build a new basketball facility.  Pat yourselves on the back for finally making it to the NCAA baseball tournament for the first time in school history.  KU became the first school to go to a College World Series, Final Four, and bowl game in the same season back in 1993.  Just two years ago, KU became the 2nd program in history to win a national title and BCS Bowl in the same season.  Just this year, KU completed over $55 million in upgrades to its athletic facilities in and around AFH.  To top it off, KU just inked an $86 million deal with IMG.

Let me know when K-State even comes close to doing any of those things.  Excuse me if I'm not impressed with an 11-5 2nd place tie in the Big 12, a three game sweep from KU, and an Elite Eight loss to Butler.

That's funny. You mention going to the Elite Eight even though you won the NC that year? So you think the E8 is a pretty big accomplishment, but make fun of us for "only" getting there this year?

Most accomplished player in K-State history, huh? Like tying for the most points in a game in Big 12 play? Or being #1 in rebounds and #3 in scoring in the nation through one season of play?

But if there was an award for "Most Penises Rubbed On A Girl In An Elevator" award at K-State, he would have certainly won that. Kudos.

I just looked at the Big 12 website, and I'd have to say that by and large the most underwhelming athletic program in the Big 12 during the 2009-2010 sports year would be ku.

There really isn't one sport outside of men's basketball where ku isn't at or near the bottom of the conference.  Yet again and again you tried to tell us how Lew was building an athletic super power over in Lawrence.

Again, K-State was in shambles, unable to to anything, and ku was going to destroy K-State in everything.  Now.  Expenses out run Revenues at ku, the ku athletic department is nearly $60 million in debt, the majority of ku sports are mired at the bottom of the conference, and the football team nearly went 0-8 in conference play finishing in last place in the North . . . again.   The ku athletic department is under federal investigation and just came off of NCAA probation.

You guys had to hire a new athletic director, new school president, new head football coach, etc, etc.  Quit acting like your program was the epitome of stable at the time.  No one is impressed with one bowl in six years, one NCAA baseball tournament appearance in program history, and a three-way tie for 2nd place in the Big 12.  Sorry.

You do realize that ku football has never even been to the conference title game, right?

I appreciate ku's success in baseball in 1993 (actually, no, I don't.  That was over 15 years ago) but in the past year, ku's athletic program is sucking KSU's dust.  Spin how you want but in the one, lone sport that ku was actually able to beat KSU head-to-head, the KSU program ultimately made it twice as far in the Tournament that is, for all objective fans, the true measure of success.

Sounds like he's Collins 2.0. Mouths off, needs to be faster, cocky. How many kids does Selby have?

Collins was the winningest player in KU history, won seven of eight possible Big 12 titles, went to two Elite Eights, a Sweet Sixteen, and won a national title.  Go f*ck yourself, hater.

Where did that second elite 8 come from? You forgot to mention his signature "Rock Choke" against UNI. Selby only has one year to do all of that for UK.

KU went to the Elite Eight in '07 and '08 (national championship).  Collins flat-out missed his shots against UNI... it had nothing to do with his effort or his attitude.  The guy is a winner, and would be the most accomplished player in K-State basketball history.  Also, Selby could be at KU for two years, especially if there's an NBA lockout in 2011 like many are expecting.

Kudos.

Sherron would give K-State its first ever national championship and seven out of eight Big 12 titles.  No one in the history of your program even comes close to having that much success.  Try again.

Again, you and Tardville said it was a "shambles" and that it would be YEARS before K-State recovered.  We tried to tell you how these things are cyclical, but you just kept parrotting the tardville line.

How many other Big 12 programs have won a national championship and BCS Bowl in the same season?  TIA.

The "Best Year Ever" you clowns printed up for the 2007-08 year was hilarious.  Remember when Florida won NC's in football and basketball? I might mention Florida won their division and Conference championship that year in football as well, something KU is yet to do.....ever.  I'd probably take 2 NC's in one season over an Orange Bowl victory over an ACC team playing w/an injured defense and w/o their starting RB, and a NC over a team in Memphis that gift wrapped and hand delivered the NC trophy to Self and his Merry Band of BeakTards

Even more Jedi mind tricks from Ben.

Let's review once again, about this time just last year you spewed on and on about how K-State was a "shambles" with no hope of ever being able to compete with the athletic super power that Lew Perkins was building in Lawrence.  You painted a picture that not only was ku set to dominate the Big 12, but dominate on a national level.

Just one year later all but one of ku's athletic teams sits at or near the bottom of the Big 12.   One major sport finished last in the Big 12 North, and was one slightly over thrown pass away from going 0-8 in conference play.   The rest of the ku athletic teams besides men's basketball already have or currently dredge up the bottom of the conference, and the men's basketball team bombed out of the NCAA tourney in the 2nd round.    The ku athletic department is currently under investigation by the FBI, a major facilities project that you bragged about incessantly can't get off the ground, and Perkins is on record saying that revenues are being outpaced by expenses.

How was Collins a huge part of the championship run in '08? In the NCAA tournament, he averaged a whopping 8 ppg, including 4 points against Villanova and 5 points against Davidson. That's not exactly playing a huge part.

That piece of rat filth spurned your degenerate university the second he was done using it, like it were a common whore.  He did the same to the mothers of his children and the mothers of his aborted children.  He'd be your friend all night, til you ran out of cash to buy him drinks, then he'd stand up and walk away from you laughing at what a chump you are.   You're nothing more than a means to an end for him, he doesn't care about you or your school, its all an act to bring him more of what he wants.

He doesn't hold a candle to some of the great basketball players uk has produced, and claiming that he does makes you look like a sensationalist fool.  The only reason you've been fed that lie is so Lew Perkins can sell some ridiculous shirts, which common white trash ignorantly wear while vomiting the same talking points you type on this board.  Worse yet, Sweet Lew makes a little extra coin by running his competition Joe College, the type of small business Lowrents people purport to love and faithfully support, straight into the ground, just like the lawrence oft demonized "evil corporation" would do.

It's time to look in the mirror young man, and face up to what you've become, a soulless pile of cowardice pleading for validation of your soulless university's one relevant athletic program on the internet.  Pathetic

But the K-State athletic department is in "shambles" . . .  remember??

Let's see... last season was the first time ever that K-State made it to the NCAA baseball tournament.  The football program has been to one bowl in six years.  The basketball program's best season in school history was a three-way tie for 2nd in the Big 12, along with an Elite Eight loss to a mid major.  Yeah, you guys are just tearing sh*t up.

We were better than KU in football, basketball and baseball this year :dunno:

How can you say K-State was better than KU in basketball when KU beat K-State three times and won the Big 12 by four games?  Football is debatable as well... KU just gave up on Mangino and that coaching staff after starting 5-0 and top 25.

KSU did better in basketball, baseball and football :dunno: pretty simple

No, you didn't.  STFU.

Well, according to everyone in the world that's not you....we did :dunno:

and that's why everyone in the world voted ku higher in the final poll after the tourney right?

Everyone just noticed that Seff left the gate unlocked

Quote
"Taylor won some early support this summer with his play for Team USA but quickly lost much of it after a very slow start to the season. He began playing better toward the end of the season. The question for Taylor is, with Sherron Collins now gone, would he be better off staying at KU one more year as the lead guard? With news that point guard Josh Selby, a potential top-10 pick in 2011, will play for KU next year, Taylor may feel compelled to go pro now."

shame on me for getting drawn into this thread

but no way bmw should u be hanging your hat on big 12 titles when every year they get 9 free wins from the nortards. and still they ended up the 2 seed half the time.  put ukans in any other major conf they have less than half the titles they have now.  the big 12 is not great at basketball, its proven out in the ncaa's,  where ukans leads the way in faceplants.

and any reasonable fan knows how badly lew had to electioneer his way into that orange bowl that mu deserved to go to.

the only thing ukans can hang their hat on with any level of legitimacy (probation issues aside) is the 08 title.  no doubt jaytards will be holding onto that the next 20+ yrs when anyone tries to call them out as an underachieving program, not unlike '88.

i'm sure selby will be decent, but history has shown that there has only been one 1&doner that took his team all the way.  most of the time they are stat hogs or just plain underachieve like many freshmen making the transition.

This is another good candidate for the KU recruing Master Thread.  These guys can have their own threads when they spurn KU.  No one cares about them independent of that.
