Title: Starting 5 ...
Post by: Powercat Posse on November 07, 2014, 09:22:22 PM
I didn't see a topic thread about this. Apologies if I missed it.

oscar stated he may not settle on a true starting lineup til Maui trip.

I've been saying for some time now, here is my starting lineup....

G - Foster
G - Edwards
C - Hurt
F - Westicles
F - Gipson

Gut call but I think both "point guards"  don't start. I think they will come off the bench and play 23-27 minutes filling in for Foster Edwards Westicles.

Not sure right now how many minutes Bolden will play.  I think Malek Harris won't  play much in the beginning at the 4 ( still adapting to college ball). Niño will be first 4/5 off bench.  We can play small with Nino Gip, but I think we'd prefer to not do it for long stretches.

Nigel, Foster, Edwards, Westicles, Gip.

Hearing Nigel, Foster, Westicles, Gip, Hurt with Edwards coming off the bench in a similar role as Cartier in the 06-07 season.

First, thanks for this new thread.  I was tired hearing about Kung Fu Beasley smoking dope with chopsticks and scoring, or Bill Walker playing in runtsville, or even about the beard Pullin.  It is about now, Cat Fans.  We have talent to go far.  The real issue will be the rotations Weber sets, and that we play hard all of the time - no easy time for the opponent, the tornado of terror should stun any team who dares to play us.  My starting 5 are Nigel, Wes, Marcus, Gip, Nino. The best addition to Bramledge are banners.  A national title one, yes.

I think if we do start a PG, then Edwards will start at the 3 and Westicles will be the first guy off the bench.

Just watched the highlights and Hurt is a guy that at least to me has a chance to spend a lot of time in the league if he's smart about his approach.   He won't be a star, but he could stick for a good long while.

My son has us watching a ton of NBA.  Come on man, I see guys getting minutes in the NBA that having nothing close to the athletic upside that Hurt has.   Again, he's got play his cards right and improve.

Apparently Westicles and Malek didn't play because they got in a fight at a fraternity joint party last weekend. My favorite part is that Currie is nutting up and showing how not small time we are by filing a complaint with Greek Affairs to crack down on these shitty organizations putting our adoracats at risk. Being totally serious, not goemawing here, but it shows we are playing with the big dogs when we actively put our student athletes above regular pud students(of which I am one) Hint: One of the 2 fraternities is the goEMAW favorite

Nutz is right. He either needs to get more fit or more physical. He is a massive dude but has a finesse game. That still work in college, it won't work in the league. JO is much more of a prototype NBA big than Hurt right now. The bigger issue is that he is a young guy with bad knees, the guy wears 2 bionic knee braces.

The knees are a great reason why he should lose 30+ lbs.  Help his game and his longevity as a player.

Yeah, it was at PIKE. Wes was telling me that the fight started because the guys at PIKE didn't think Malek was on the basketball team told him to leave/started shoving him. After learning seeing Malek getting shoved around, the whole team jumped to his defense. Wes got tackled, injured his shoulder, etc. Apparently Marcus threw a pretty nice haymaker to some guy's face though. Needless to say, the basketball team is not a big fan of PIKE right now...

Yeah it was a joint party, but the DU's I've talked to didn't really have an issue with the team being there (of course it's not their house). After having a joint party with them last semester, they don't really seem to be the type to start a fight at a party. Just my opinion though.

Here's my frat house starting 5:

PG- Acacia. Smart guys, not going to score 20 points a game but they'll knock down some late game free throws and play good defense against fat chicks.
SG- Sig Ep. Could go off for 30 and win the game for you, or could creep out all the girls at the party and pass out in the front yard.
SF- Beta. This guy is gonna get the job done. He's your most disciplined defender and rebounder, and he's got a steady girlfriend so hes scoring every game.
PF- TKE. These guys are hungry. They wanna score every time they touch the ball but will probably foul out for being too aggessive with the ladies.
C- PIKE. Awkward, gangly weirdo who will run the floor hard but probably punch all of his teammates because he is "misunderstood." Gets no poon.

Marcus is probably the most humble guy on the team. So if the team is losing respect for their best player (which I highly doubt) it's not because he is arrogant.

I was with one of my friends at a frat party once and this sorority girl was all over me. She wanted to leave the party and go home. She then told me why are you hanging out with that :insertracistremarkhere:? I mushed her and walked out of the party with him. They really magnetize some interesting creatures.

A lot of you strangely ut "frat parties" on a pedestal. They're normal parties.

I'm just mostly gE'ing to get reaction out of my good buddies on here who went that route. I have no problem with them. Just seems like some of my more interesting experiences happened at their parties.

If some dimwit drunk frathole injured our players in a fight that will cost us games, he should have all of his pubs pulled out by pliers at the ag mech department.    Dumbass hurting my favorite studs Wes and Malek really steams my gonnies.  From an old Haymaker hellion and apartment ape, a big flip of a bird to the marvelous knothead that did this.  Just hope this ain't true, and these guys were stomped on by Gip or the Hurtdozer.

also if the DU guys were all at the pike house partying like rockstars then who was at the DU house guarding their blocks of cheese from fat message board owners?

As you guys may or may not know, I am a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha and I love cheese.

From what oscar has said about Malek it sounds like he is going to be a piece for us this year. We really need to get healthy/cleared and roles established. Head through coaching circles that he has some impressive speed.

A coordinated, level headed, tall person who can actually shoot and has a high talent ceiling. I could be wrong, but I don't see Hurt getting in his own head or worrying about his rep the way Bolden does. Watching him just feels like watching an elite player. He comes to work, gets the job done, and a w is what makes him happy. This is all based off of watching him play twice and is based on no personal interaction, but I truly believe he is something special.

Because he's young and still getting use to the system. I also think it has to do with oscar seeing which groups play the best on the floor together and giving everyone an equal shot. This might be the first time, since I've been watching KSU bball, that we have so much talent we can't get everybody the minutes they "deserve".

Yes.  He will reinvent the face of go purple cats hooping.  Cannot overstate his impact on this squad.  I mean just look at his role the last few years.  He does things on this team that no other players that are also on this team can do and he does them at an elite level.  Let that soak in.

Nino doesn't get beat on the block a ton, usually get good position and uses his quickness. He sneaky strong too, he blows at close outs.

I would expect him at approximately 87%, but hang on to your hat because within ten to thirteen days of his return you're going to see a jump to 112% output and then he's going to settle on in over the following one to two weeks at 103% and he will maintain at that level for the remainder of the season.  #dicksafloppin #output #data

Wow! oscar is really BITB is ass off at covering this up. He has some deal with gopow where they are his mouth piece. Also sounds like oscar is running the police department too, heard the word mob thrown around.
