DTX is absolutely very snobby, no doubt about it. However, Tampa and Providence bring on that list completely invalidates it. Tampa and Providence might be the the two worst cities in America. Providence is an absolute shithole, shocking how awful it is.

KK - you may wanna get w dobber & see if there's anyway at all to coordinate getting set up near each other, unless the plan is already one giant co-pak. I know most folks that are already in the loop are gonna want to be at both.

Also, the TCU parking sitch is one gigantic clusterfuck. So, good planning & super early arrival is of the essence. For those with tickets in the designated KSU sections, those seats are in the northwest corner of AGCS. So, potentially finding spots together to the northeast as close as possible would be most ideal.

I'm gonna need a rough estimate on food. Head count? If you want to PM me or just tell me how many in your group on here.

I will try to sort out our tailgating situation later this week. Would be great to be in the same lot. Who is responsible for the other space? We will likely try to reserve 2, but I'd like a PM on which number the other group has in that lot.

The lot where he is referring to is parking pass only.  And I would recommend getting there early because it won't be super hot anymore and people will be out tailgating early.

Why do you guys have no parking? It's pretty frustrating.

We have parking.  It's just snatched up by season ticket holders for tailgating.  The rebuild has pushed up prices pretty dramatically though.  We used to tailgate in the farthest north lot in your picture but they doubled the price so we tailgate by the baseball stadium now.

TCU has tried to get a parking garage built multiple times as well but the people in the neighborhoods around TCU have shot it down every time.

Also, we have the two shuttle lots (which work for a lot of people going).

I've always parked on the streets around the stadium because I'm not a fat ass and don't mind walking.  It gets me in/out quicker when I'm ready to leave.

It's not just TCU in this conference with crap parking tho. Also, nobody wants to tailgate in a parking garage anyways. KU sucks, Baylor sucked (not sure about the new layout), and Oklahoma State sucks at it.

I know no one wants to tailgate in a parking garage, but a parking garage would free up tailgating/good parking for those that are willing to pay for it.

Why do you guys have no parking? It's pretty frustrating.

We are small timey and are still trying to figure this thing out. For years we played in a conference whose opposing fans would not travel to games. Fan experience is not a priority to us at all.

I've been to Manhattan.  It's not hard to have adequate parking when your stadium was built in a field in the middle of no where.

No, we do not.

I actually started at TCU because of their pre-med program (one of the best at med school placements in the country).  On the first day of honors bio which was team taught, one of the professors said "We do not teach creationism.  It is not science.  If you do not believe in evolution as the unifying theory in biology or refuse to acknowledge this, you will not pass. We aren't going to waste time discussing this matter."  We then received a big red folder with papers explaining why creationism would not be mentioned, how it wasn't science, and not to mention it if we didn't want to be laughed out of the science departments.

I didn't finish pre-med (I didn't really want to be a doctor, just thought I did).  I graduated with a finance degree.

Well as their university name implies they are Texans before they are Christians so the creationism thing shouldn't be too surprising.  Typical Texas arrogance.

If they actually feel the need to explain to people in a biology course that creationism isn't worth discusding, TCU is way more backward than I would have guessed.  Enlightening.

So, this -> http://paschal.fwisd.org/pages/Paschal/Athletics/Booster_Club/TCU_Football_Game_Day_Parking_ says that the Paschal lots don't open until 3 hrs before kickoff (3:30pm).  Is that the case for reserved spots too?  Does anybody know?

75 percent chance of going down... If so, going to booze it up in downtown ft. Worth and take the 7 bus or uber there. It worked well 2 years ago.

May be a dumb question but is there a shuttle that runs from lot B to the actual game?

GF and I fly in Friday and are staying at our Friends house in BFE McKinney friday night, have a room at the Omni in Downtown Ft Worth on Saturday night. The plan right now is to pak at Frankies before the game then taking a cab to the stadium but I will try to convince everyone to come meet my IRL buds....GF has already met Wacky so she totally can't say it will be weird and she wont know anyone!!!

The bars on 7th street are better than downtown (well with the exception of the flying saucer).  They've really pushed to have the bar district be the 7th street corridor (just west of downtown) and have retail in downtown.

Yes.  It's the Trinity river.  It's more of a creek IMO but Texas loves to label big creeks as rivers.

Yea, it has exploded since then.  The Pour House has changed into a beer bar.  They had a couple scandals with police officers getting smashed there and then getting DUIs so they had to reinvent themselves.  There are bars across 7th (Abbey Pub, Poag Mahones) and Velvet Taco (which is good).  There are more bars a little further down off of Foch Street.

Turnover is still somewhat high because the real estate is a little over priced.

And if the Mexican place was Gloria's, that's more South American food than Mexican.  But Gloria's is good.  It started in one of the cities around here and now there are 5-6 of them.

I have no idea.  I never make it to that part of downtown anymore.  I have 4 places that I go to for the most part.  The Bearded Lady because the lady that runs it gets fantastic beer and the food is good. (this is off of Magnolia.  There are some cool bars of there.  It's pretty hipstery and yuppie-ish though).  The Flying Saucer bcuz good beer.  The Gingerman bcuz good beer.  The Royal Falcon because it is close to my house, the drinks are cheap by DFW standards, and occasionally I hang out after close with the bartenders.

If you've never been to a strip club in Texas, then you should check out one of the nicer ones.  Strip clubs are one of the few things that Texas is awesome at.

Also, carrying a flask inside Amon Carter is pretty easy.  As long as it isn't super obvious, security will not eff with you.  They check bags.  If I carry a bigger one, then I will slide it inside the waist on my jeans.  If I carry a smaller one, I just put it in my back pocket and make sure the top is covered by my shirt.

Just FYI.

That is correct.

Unless TCU figures out a way to pull Amon Carter's name off of the stadium they can't sell alcohol in the stadium.  Which is why we allow in and outs.

I either find a tailgate at halftime with friends close to the stadium or carry a flask in.

People go to chain restaurants/bars because of trust.  They can (mostly) assume that what they buy in Corpus Christi will be similar to what they buy in Kalamazoo.  Trust in ingesting external substances into the holy caverns of the body. The amazing process of transforming that which is outside oneself into oneself is a mystery that practically defines life.  Absorbing the environment to subsume it, and knowing one day we all shall be consumed ourselves.

I skipped over the supposed "Melvin" insult because I had no idea what you meant by it.  Also, I don't really care what you meant by it, so I just ignored it.  Feel free to explain it.  Is it some type of 1950's insult?

Dobs, it will be my usual group from the Texas game last year. We'll be stopping at a TCU admissions tailgate first (some friends work there from atchison), so don't go all out for us, but we'll have about 8-10 peeps roaming around Ft. Worth.

I know someone from Atchison who works at TCU  :sdeek:
hey me too. Same person I bet.

Alexander supertramp's food was so good.  The chicken and brisket was amazing.  The bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers were amazing.  The Mac and cheese was amazing.

It was the best BBQ chicken I've ever had by far and the brisket was in good company with Salt Lick and Frankljn's.

Can confirm.  Good to see you, albeit a bit brief due to our other obligations.  Safe travels back north today and we'll look forward to hopefully catching up with you in MHK before or after the KU game.

I was right against the fence on Gordon. Sent AST a text shortly after I got my fire going.  But apparently I put in the wrong phone # and the person I sent a text to had a little fun at my expense before telling me I had the wrong #.  Then, I got a text from AST after I was already on the bus to the stadium. :(

Had a good time tailgating, tho.
